What’s funny to me is, the same argument being used to attack TT when he was here regarding stats is now being used to defend Allen. They are very different QB’s with different strengths and weaknesses, but still funny.

Do with these what you will

Was he playing on the Franchise Tag?
-
Darby wasn't franchise tagged, he was simply traded on a light contract. That's the difference. Trading for a guy that you also have to immediately pay makes a difference in what you are willing to give up. It's happened this year and last, but wasn't the trend a few years back. They may have gotten a 3rd for him, but with his comments about not wanting to really be here, I think the other teams would've had all the leverage and the Bills weren't going to play the Cousins game
-
I think that’s a recent thing honestly. Trades weren’t going down like that a few years back. I doubt we would’ve gotten a first for him.
-
Well, that’s assuming someone would give something up for him, knowing they also have to sign him. It would have taken the Pats out of the equation immediately, as I doubt we were trading him within our division. But I agree with your point. He was the first player to sign in FA, if I remember correctly. We pry could have gotten something for him.

15 mil a year was hardly nothing

During the Monday Night game between the Seahawks and 49ers, the Seahawks had multiple drives at the end of the game where the were in 3rd and less than 5. They’d bring our 3-4 receivers and had decent runs on each drive. Moreso, they gave Wilson who can scramble well. On one of the plays, they ran the same fade route play that we did at the end of our game. Another one, they took a shot to DK deep. Basically, the Seahawks ran the same type of plays that the Bills were calling that had many of us, myself included, flipping out. Maybe this is analytics or just the modern NFL, I don’t know. But I just don’t understand these low percentage plays when the game is on the line and you have other things that are working for you. Wilson is an MVP candidate right now, so his passes were at least contested on the throws, but still. They convert on either of those 3rd downs and maybe the game ends sooner. Either way, it leads me to agree with some of you on here that Daboll does call a modern offense, but it’s not one that fits our talent. Last night was just interesting to see and gave me flashbacks to Sunday

Preston was the weaker of the two browns. We didn’t even try to match their one year offer of 4 mil, if that tells you what we thought of him

Daboll as an OC - Rankings for last 10 years
Virgil replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both were great until the second half of the season. The league adjusted to us and we were absolutely shut down -
Our offense stalled out bad under Roman. He’s done that multiple times before and time will tell if it happens again. He got shut down in the playoffs last year. But maybe it does work out for him. Our offense got better when we promoted Lynn who runs a similar style offense. He may very well become available after this season. Personally, I would want someone who gives us the least transition possible with basic terminology

And you could equally argue Daboll hasn’t proven anything at any level -
Daboll as an OC - Rankings for last 10 years

How is it cherry picking when I’m showing his overall ranking as an OC? Cherry picking would be situational. This is his actual resume. Second of all, do your homework someone before you accuse me of scapegoating. I’ve been very critical of Allen in the past and even recently. I think Daboll is the bigger issue of the two. But nice post -

I get where you're coming from, but he was also only given 1-2 years at each role for a reason. If the QB's were bad, but his system was good, he would have earned more time. Unless every owner decided together to simply make him a scapegoat. -

I knew there was a thread posting Daboll's stats before, but I couldn't find it. If you want to merge this somewhere, go for it. -

Doesn't make me feel great about Allen or Daboll honestly -

These are his career stats as an NFL OC. The overall is based upon the entire team, which includes defensive points scored. Out of all the categories, he only finished a season top ten on four occasions, all within the rushing category. Allen's ability to run is the main reason he's green or yellow these past two seasons. For those saying Allen is the problem, which he does have his problems, I look at the person running the show and see that the man's resume is crap. I don't know how he got the job then or how he has the job now. His ties to Saban and the Hoodie mean nothing to me. With the Hoodie, all he did was coach TE's. College stats are tough to rank, but he was

The End of McDermott’s Defensive Line Rotation

I’m scared that McD’s solution is retooling and adding. Soon, our entire roster will be all defensive lineman -

I don’t think they are idiots. I think Daboll is partially stubborn but overall not a good enough coordinator to beat it. His prior performance is would back that up
