Any Ray Davis injury (concussion) updates?
Beck Water replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could be Step 3 or Step 4, on a day where practice was a walk-through https://static.www.nfl.com/image/upload/v1629471746/league/umfva5wnr32ozmukz5jd.pdf -
Any Ray Davis injury (concussion) updates?
Beck Water replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not necessarily. Friday is the last practice, but a player can be cleared based on working out on Saturday and being OK on Sunday But, Davis was listed as "limited" on Weds which is a good sign -
He's on the practice squad. It's not so much about "inside info"; he hasn't been on the Ravens since September of 2023 It's about the fact that he's an actual QB who can throw, while also being relatively fast and agile. His 40 time isn't blazing, but he has a good shuttle, and he's a lot faster than Mike White (5.06 40-time) He also quietly had a cup of coffee with the Bills in August, so they're familiar with him.

And I am OK with that

And that's pretty much what McDermott said about it. So a few years back in one of the Bills wins at KC, they did something like what YPP says as I recall. They used pressure to force Mahomes to roll out one way, where Milano was waiting.

My understanding of what I was told is that technique and contact balance are important (especially on OL) but that in the NFL, pretty much everyone who is starting has very good technique. So intensity and want-to make a difference. I'd like to see where that understanding is written in the NFL rule book, because I don't think it's right. At best, it would become a judgement call of "are they really acting like they still have the ball?" and "when did they stop acting like they still have the ball?"

"We'll see on Sunday" - Bobby Babich It's pretty interesting DaQuan said that. Goes right along with what I was told that playing OL or DL starts with your mind.

Say What? Did you actually watch McDermott's interview? You didn't, but you're all rev'd up to yap about it anyway amiright? 1. McDermott talked about Davis as part of the injury update he led off with. He said he's in concussion protocol. That's all he's allowed to say. 2. McDermott was asked about the fake punt. 50 seconds into the interview. Here you go. -
And yet, including this year so far, Allen is 6-5 in playoffs while Lamar is 3-4 - including losses to Cincy and KC, two of the teams that have beaten the Bills in playoffs Make it Make Sense

It's true that all of the successful teams improved during the season. But it's one thing to improve and learn to gel; it's another thing to just lack the personnel. The Bills were missing 3 key starters from the beginning of the game, with a 4th lost shortly afterwards. People don't want to believe it, but missing like 1/3 of your starting talent is a big drop off on any team facing another top team. On offense, the Bills You can be unsure if you like. There are other factors at play for sure. But on offense, the situation was different; we had all our starters, but in retrospect, we didn't have enough talent on offense. Samuel was working his way back from a turf toe and not effective; Keon was still learning. Then Shakir, our best WR, got injured and became less effective. The Bills FO recognized this. This and the Houston game are the reason the Bills traded for Cooper. Seems pretty clear one of those factors was that the 3-0 Bills didn't bring the same urgency to the game as the 1-2 Ravens. They had their backs against the wall and came out swinging.

DaQuan and Big Ed normally don't compete for snap count. 81% Eddie at the 3T (paired with 19% Jordan Phillips, looked like to me), Daquan 35% at the 1T paired with everyone and his cat (Austin Johnson, Quinton Jefferson) They may have done some creative stuff, folding a DE inside, as well. Does Smoot roll inside? I know Rousseau can...

I may have missed this upthread, but interesting presser from Bobby Babich on Monday He's wearing a hat that says S. F. P. Apparently stands for "Smart. Fast. Physical." and he agreed with Muki Hawkins could add a "D." for "Disciplined" He was asked by Matt Parrino at the start, "taking the temperature of the room after the game, it seemed like your defense was pretty pissed off at everything they'd heard all week long about not being able to stop the run" He was asked if he felt there were guys going out there with something to prove? Just kind of nods, says "that's an accurate..pretty accurate statement. Yup." then "They had a good demeanor all week, that's all I'll say". Muki Hawkins asked him "how do you see your chances with a fully healthy defense going into the matchup this week?" Babich says "We'll find out Sunday" and nods, then cracks a little smile and says again "We'll find out Sunday"

Thanks. The point is, he didn't go off in the 1st Q. Though, if that's when he was injured, he may not have been able to be effective.
-
I think the Bills have a number of fast guys on their actual scout team who can help the defense prepare. For example, KJ Hamler was reported to run a 4.27 sec 40-time during a pre-draft workout. Jalen Virgil ran a 4.4 Samuel needs to focus on offense - we aren't going to beat Baltimore by shutting their defense down.
-
Negative on Shakir going off injured in 1st Q. He played 59% of the snaps and had targets and receptions into the 3rd Q. However he was injured sometime in the 3Q or 4Q and missed the Houston game entirely. I could be mistaken but I do think that the Ravens game made it clear to the Bills brass that we had a gap in our skill set that teams who defended us a certain way could exploit. Then missing Shakir the following week was just awful. So Beane started looking to make a deal.

No, not that I've seen. I'm not a big Harbaugh fan. But he generally runs a tight ship and his players know better than to talk smack on opponents.
-
Not just Milano, who was still on IR that game. Bernard was out. Taron Johnson was out. Rapp went out in the 1st Q and didn't return. That game was the "open the rolodex, we need more on offense" game for Beane. (Houston was the "flip through it and speed dial" game)

Well....with 210 rush yards and a rush TD maybe he should have worried a bit? But I know what you mean. Cook - none of the Bills RBs really - have never "posterized" someone like Henry did to Josh Norman.

The Bills earned a new draft pick update after Vikings loss to Rams
Beck Water replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was actually my thought. How much of it was Darnold hesitating and not knowing where to go with the ball? And how much of it was an offense succeeding off screen plays and the deep ball (neither of which were working last night)? From the TV broadcast I find it hard to tell -
Milano was out. Bernard was out. Johnson was out. Rapp went out and Bishop played 3/4 of the game. Brown and Cook both played

Any Ray Davis injury (concussion) updates?
Beck Water replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott said he is in concussion protocol, yesterday. Per league policy that's all the update we'll get until he's out. They don't update on what stage he's in or anything like that. McDermott said he is in concussion protocol yesterday in his Monday presser. They normally don't give updates "getting better" blah blah but one can infer where he is in the protocol by what he's seen doing in practice and so forth.
