Steelers @ Ravens 4:30pm Game Thread
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
They didn’t really beat THE ravens twice to be fair. Seattle is very mediocre also. They beat the jake browning bengals that weren’t very good twice is why they’re knocking on the door of the playoffs. you might want to check that Texans Steelers box score again 😂 Steelers are a fringe playoff team with watt…Its pretty fair to say based on the effort tonight they probably would not have beaten the ravens starters. They’re pretty much a 9-8 team with some surprising wins and terrible losses. With burrow starting all year they’re probably 8-9 at best. They dodged a ton of divisional bullets due to insane luck lol. 13-3 ravens without Lamar and cincy x2 without burrow is half their division games -

Completely unrelated to the bills I think giving Lamar two weeks off is a blunder honestly…if they couldn’t have gotten the bye and had the 2 seed clinched then I’m all for resting key starters and Lamar all game but there’s a pretty good chance ravens come out flat in their first playoff game I would’ve played him a half if it was up to me -

It’s makin the 2 seed play an extra game though which is giving a massive advantage to the 1 seed. Instead of playing nobody they’ve gotta play a pretty decent team so I don’t think it’s watering down the competition imo but I could see how somebody would -

I didn’t even remember Phillips 😁. Our pass rush absolutely fell off a cliff without von last year…we are exponentially better in the trenches without him this year than we were late last year -
Most playoff teams lose 1-2 head scratchers a year we lost one too many imo. Kc lost to Las Vegas, Green Bay, Denver but they’ve got no other good team in their division so it worked out. Eagles lost to jets and cardinals cowboys lost to cardinals also Miami blew a huge lead against ten Baltimore had the third worst division record in the afc north despite facing a bunch of teams with backup qbs but then they went out and smashed SF and Miami

The odds they’ll come out flat in a couple of weeks are much higher than the odds Lamar would’ve gotten hurt if he played a couple drives -

I agree…I’m scratching my head why Lamar didn’t play a drive or two -

I’m happy for the opposite reason haha I think there’s a good chance the ravens offense is flat in two weeks gettin a tj watt-less Steelers in the playoffs is a gift too -

I’m not sure it’s smart when you’ve got Lamar who is perpetually ice cold in the playoffs…I probably would’ve played him a half or a couple drives minimum -

He’s also above Josh Allen levels of turnovers lol I think he’s got 8 ints and 1 lost fumble in 5 games -

I have to commend him for keeping it going outside the gameday threads…most of the trolls show up there every week but don’t have the commitment to post throughout the week 😂 -

Does Tua Tagovailoa have a "Big Game" problem? (great article)
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Other teams don’t have 4.4 speed at like 4 positions at the same time…that quick release business isn’t going for 10-15 yard gains for other teams…they’ve gotta hold the ball longer. A lot of teams have one fast receiver but you really would need 2+ to put the defender in conflict as fast as possible tua is just taking a snap reading one conflict defender 10 yards down the middle of the field and throwing.. it’s a bit risky against clever defensive coordinators because they start baiting you into stuff and there’s just no time post snap for tua to adjust. They’re kind of destined to absolutely destroy bad defenses that can’t communicate in the secondary and struggle mightily against good defenses The bills rpo/option route heavy offense gives them a lot more opportunity to adapt based on what the defense is doing but there’s also a higher chance people aren’t on the same page -
Mcdaniel is good at disguising the few concepts tua likes behind a ton of different formations/presnap motion. They haven’t been fooling the better defenses in the league though…I think he’s a high floor low-ish ceiling kind of coach where he’s going to continue to beat up on bad teams and never pull off the winning streak against good teams needed to do anything in the playoffs

Congrats to Pro Bowlers James Cook and Dion Dawkins!

fan votes count for 1/3rd, coaches and players the other 2/3rds. So it’s likely he got snubbed by those other groups too -

Just saw a stat that Josh has the highest pff grade for offensive players against playoff teams which game me a chuckle since he’s a pro bowl alternate lol i do think some of it is coaches/players not voting for him since he has skipped the pro bowl to play golf 2 years in a row 😁 -
Elite QBs Win Super Bowls?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
The league feels like it took a big swing back in the defense’s direction to me this year... I’m not sure how relevant past superbowl winners are gonna be. I don’t think we’ve really seen any qbs play at the josh Allen 2021 playoff level at all this season. Seems to be making people think the bills are worse than they are. When you look at just buffalo yea the offense sputters at times but that’s happening to a lot of the good teams this year The defense being riddled with injuries between the jax game and the broncos game is as big or arguably bigger of a contributing factor to the shape we’re in record wise than the offensive concerns. When Rasul got acclimated the defense got a lot better and we started winning. you can look at the qbs that have won but look at the defenses too, it’s almost always a top 10 defense that gets it done -
Elite QBs Win Super Bowls?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
They’re kind of all chokers by definition outside of belichick lol winning a superbowl is nearly impossible even if you are the outright best team on paper. Look at John Harbaugh…16 years head coaching the ravens, one superbowl win 10 years ago, 2x mvp qb since and early playoff exits for like 10 years since. Will he win this year? Even as the best team in the afc the odds are very low look at Kyle Shanahan. Great regular season performances for years but blew that falcons superbowl as OC and blew the niners Super Bowl against KC look at McCarthy…1 Super Bowl win but has ‘choked’ constantly since. look at Andy Reid…sure he’s found some success now but it’s only after a previous franchise completely gave up on him for not being able to win a big game. 2 Super Bowl wins in 25 years and didn’t get his first until his 21st season look at Mike Tomlin…one superbowl win 15 years ago and now he’s praised for just going around .500 for whatever reason Pete Carroll…1 Super Bowl in 14 years. Choked hard against NE in his second superbowl and is barely relevant now LaFleur…LaChoker with one of the best statistical qbs of all time Todd Bowles has one Super Bowl in a fairly short coaching career but he was carried by Brady and no history of success with anybody else Doug Pederson…one superbowl win then fired now pretty average at best McDaniel…too early to tell but his team rarely shows up against a good opponent and the dolphins are firmly in win now territory so it’s doubtful he produces any championships the rest of the field is a bunch of young-ish guys that it’s too early to tell on and mcvay who deserves a lot of credit imo his front office completely sold out for that superbowl and I thought they’d be non competitive for years I can understand the reasons for thinking mcd can’t win it but under that same microscope, what coach in the league can? by the ‘fire mcd’ standards I feel like 30 coaches would be fired 😂 -
Need a capable backup quarterback next season.
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to margolbe's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think teams usually go the other way with this now…maybe the browns prove me wrong this year but if you lose your starting qb it’s nearly impossible to be competitive in the playoffs anyway so most teams save the cap space and get the better draft pick the following year -

Bills 30 Dolphins 20 no Xavien Howard no jaelan Phillips no Bradley Chubb Jalen Ramsey playing hurt is a preseason defense.. very one sided game in the trenches for Buffalo
