The Bills defense didn’t allow as stark of a difference of the Jags offensive output as the Jags defense did to the Bills. Period. It’s not as though the offense and the defense of the Bills are intricately linked variables. Points per drive is points per drive. It’s an efficiency metric. Even if you want to say you can’t compare these two variables, fine, whatever. I will say that the Jags defense holding the Bills offense to nearly HALF their normal offensive production on a points per drive basis is a CLEAR reason we lost the game when our two biggest cap hits are our two best weapons on offense.

Sutton doesn’t produce against top CB’s anymore. Can he get open against 3rd or 4th DB’s? I think so. No one in Trent Sherfields entire NFL career has been able to use him. Is every coach he has had bad? Or is he just an end of the roster bum?

It’s the talent. Trent and Harty have around 1700 yards and 8 receiving TD’s between the two of them in 11 NFL seasons combined. In 7 NFL season, Isaiah McKenzie has had 1300 yards and 11 receiving TD’s. These bums were the “upgraded receiving core?” Gabe Davis 2.0 means Sherfield and Harty don’t see the field again. Gabe aint perfect but he’s at least a good NFLer.

It’s actually crazy. I get that we like to have fun Madden moments and daydream about adding Davante Adams and Deandre Hopkins, but there are compelling and realistic reasons to not pursue those guys necessarily. But by the same token, Trent Sherfield has averaged 10 yards per game in his SEVEN year career. There are 100 guys like that waiting for a call. I said it before, we could call Emmanuel Sanders out of retirement TODAY, and he would be WR2/3 INSTANTLY. That means these bums ain’t it.

Look at points per drive. Bills offense in 2023 averages 2.83 points per drive. Against the Jags they averaged 1.6! That’s almost HALF their average (and obviously that includes the game we are talking about. Jags offense averages 1.64 per drive. Against the Bills they averaged 2.08 per drive. Not a great showing but not as nearly as stark a difference as the O. The Offense. Was. The. Problem.

Sherfield cannot play. Not sure Harty can play either. We need another guy who can get open and threaten defenses.

Would rather take Sutton. Would give a 2nd round pick in a second.

The bottom line is you wouldn’t trade Epenesa for less than a third because we may even net that as a comp pick if he walks next season. The only reason to trade him would be to upgrade at another position, which, to your point, would require a packaged deal in all likelihood. Counterpoint, that Bradley Chubb deal doesn’t look super great so far lol
