He has interest. I thought you weren’t interested in arguing?

Believe that McD is either: 1. scouting every defensive player we could possibly draft in the first 100 picks 2. Has prescient knowledge about what players will be available when we pick and scouts ONLY them lol There’s conjecture then there’s conjecture lmao Also McD is such a control freak that he had Leslie Frazier call the defensive plays for 4 years and basically has no hand in the offense at all lol
-
Again, I will ask. When did McD have time to personally scout a third round DT prospect?

2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?
FireChans replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did those Cowboys do it in the NFCCG? Like @GoBills808 said, the running joke that whole season was “the worst 15-1 team ever.” Yet they demolished a 13-3 Cardinals team and then beat the two time defending NFC champion Seahawks. I wouldn’t categorize any team that made it to a SB and lost as “overrated.” I’d categorize them as one of the two teams that season that beat enough teams on their schedule to get to the Super Bowl. -
In hindsight, should we have traded for Diontae Johnson?

I get it. Lots of folks would rather have a soon to be 25 year old rookie running back over a 27 year old WR with more career receiving yards than our entire group put together. I am eager to see how Ray Davis is used when it’s do or die in the playoffs. My guess? He won’t be out there while Josh runs in circles begging for Mack Hollins to get open. Chalk me up in the, “yes we should’ve” camp. -

Are we living on the same TBD? The narrative was obviously that Mahomes would struggle and “let’s see him without 2 HoF targets” lol -

That may be true. Calling them overrated after dismantling the 13-3 Cards and the beating the back to back SB team Seahawks is kinda wild though -

Beane is wistfully remembering the Devin Funchess, Philly Brown, Ted Ginn Jr offense. -

Seattle, the back the back NFC champions and the 1st overall defense and 4th overall offense “wasn’t tough?” The Denver defense was elite. They also frazzled Brady. They made a lot of good teams look silly. -

Their schedule wasn’t easy in the playoffs. They absolutely annihilated the 13-3 Cards. -
Ray Ray needs to make an impact early. He’s gonna be 25 by mid season. He may only have 3 years left.

I didn’t bring up Kincaid. If he continues to get better, he will turn out a fine pick in a vacuum. Same with Torrence. The issue is we don’t live in a vacuum. The whole reason I believe in emphasis on highly paid and high impact positions in the draft is because you may think you are “set” at WR after 2022 and two years later coming into the draft, we didn’t have a quality boundary WR on the roster. The Niners, in a clear cut case, got ahead of that problem. Now, if they end up cutting/trading Deebo outright after a lackluster year, they already have the succession plan in place. And they have a young player they hope will be ready to perform in case he gets hurt again. The Cowboys did this two years ago. Tyron Smith is a HoF tackle. Has health concerns and is getting up there but a truly elite T in the NFL. They could EASILY make the argument, “we don’t need to draft a tackle, we are fine.” But since LT’s are very important and paid accordingly, they drafted one they liked in the first round. Smith got hurt (again) their new LT played quite well and they didn’t come in the draft NEEDING to take an LT. And they STILL took another one in the first this year. The bottom line is that you are one twisted ankle away from Mack Hollins starting in the postseason. Again. Just like we were one twisted ankle from Trent Sherfield starting in the postseason. Again. Just like we were one twisted ankle from Jake Kumerow starting in the postseason. Again. At a certain point, that same problem presenting itself over and over and over becomes harder to defend. Despite Kincaid/Torrence looking like a hit as their high picks.

Damien Harris had over 2300 yards from scrimmage and 20 TD’s. He signed with the Bills last year for $1.7M. Justin Shorter, a fifth round pick, has an average salary of $1M. Is a fourth round RB (who has a significant chance to not beat out Harris’ career numbers with the Bills) an economical decision when you can spend an extra 400-700k for probably a better player to fill the backup role and use the 4th rounder on a player that may end up dictating a $10-15M+contract? Imo, no.

I was just drawing the comparison of a productive tweener falling relative to their production. I haven’t watched a single snap of Solomon, I admit it lol

Former Bills UDFA Eric Striker was a very productive EDGE in college that didn’t have enough sand in his pants to stick in the NFL
-
No, I didn’t. Again, you’re assuming that McD also knows what players that AREN’T on his board WILL be drafted before the Bills pick. How have we not won a Super Bowl with this oracle running the show?
-
They are all on the same board! You do not understand how drafts work. At all. I’m not trying to be mean, but you really do not get it.
-
You didn’t answer my question. How would McD say “I think this third round grade safety should be higher than this third round grade WR (that I didn’t scout)?”
-
The board that Beane made without McD’s input at all? The one that has every other position on it? The one that may have a WR, RB, DT and a DE in between the first and second safety? How does McD move a safety prospect up or down without scouting the other players in between? Magic?
-
Yeah, he does. Because Beane does and that’s how they build their draft board? How else would you rank the prospects? Do you think Bishop was the best safety they scouted in the draft? Do you think Carter was the best DT? Do you think Coleman was the best WR? No. Of course not. They scouted guys that they thought were better and ranked higher and guys they thought were worse and ranked lower. So when they get a third rounder in a trade, they can look at the top of the board and see whose available. Because they already made a board with ALL THEIR SCOUTED DRAFTABLE PLAYERS ON IT. Thats what the GM DOES. You are just demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of how drafts work. Your contention is that McD: 1. Has prescient knowledge of what players will be available when the Bills pick and scouts ONLY THOSE PLAYERS 2. Has prescient knowledge about trades that haven’t happened yet and scouts ONLY THOSE PLAYERS that will be available when they are picking to borrow some British slang, that’s just complete rubbish.
-
The next fascist government should hire the Bills PR team. They are doing an incredible job editing out all the footage of McD reviewing his personal draft board and making the selections himself while Pegula and Beane get him coffee.
