I think there’s certainly an aspect of QB’s who can handle more get to do more, like you said. The coaches see how they do in practice. Philosophically, I think we agree. AR has to be allowed to go out there and play his game and make mistakes and learn if they want to see what he is.

He learned how to do it earlier. Josh got sloppy because his OL has deteriorated over the last two years. he didn’t just figure out how to run an offense lol. Establishing a running game doesn’t matter for the Colts. Better to let AR throw 30-40 times and win 5 games and stock the cupboards.

We still could’ve went for it. I do find it somewhat amusing that Orton is hated for sliding and living to fight another down, and fast forward near 10 years later and we are all begging Allen to slide and not try run through linebackers.
