  1. I cannot believe you just called him a woman after the game he had.
  2. There's an element of natural ability too, both physical and mental. Having the physical capability to be that in control of your route and also the mental ability to make those decisions and adjustments in real time is unreal and something I think most folks don't appreciate.
  3. It's very rare, but we are starting to see some veteran guys who can make their own adjustments to these evolving DB adjustments by doing exactly that.
  4. A DB can't assume by default that every ball is going to be underthrown; he has to attack where he thinks the catch point is going to be, which would be at the end of the route. If it is underthrown, he probably has a better chance to avoid contact if he's watching the WR gear down than if he's spinning around off-balance trying to find the ball. The fact that the world's best coaches now coach it this way should be enough to settle the debate, imo.
  5. I have plans to head to Negril in March. Regardless of my schedule, I hope those folks come through this OK.
  6. They also compound the problem by letting the local city schools play their championship games on that field a few weeks from now. It's bad now, but sometime around mid-November it's essentially going to be painted mud until they get an opening for another resod.
  7. Exactly. I've played some corner as well and some of these guys think that turning your head and tracking a ball midflight while not losing any speed or balance is just something that any ballplayer should be able to do on any route. There's a reason these guys are now coached not to bother trying it outside of unique circumstances. Every single week I see multiple completions given up because a CB tried to turn his head instead of staying with his man and getting an arm/hands into the basket.
  8. I think they lost multiple OL to injury through the course of the game; they may have had a serious effect.
  9. On the remote chance that you get a little bit of extra leeway from a ref who wants to throw as many flags as he can, there is a far greater chance that you are just going to give up a catch because, again, all it does is slow you down, create separation and put you off balance.
  10. People are ragging on him, but he had no shot today. He had guys in his face all day long.
  11. He's one of the few players in the NFL that has learned how to successfully kick there over the years; it's part of the reason the Stillers keep him around. Justin Tucker is the only other one I can think of. If you're interested, do a little research on that field in the fall; it's kind of interesting and has been going on for decades.
  12. Yeah, because he didn't commit interference. If you interfere with an opportunity to make a catch, it doesn't matter what direction you're looking. And most coaches are not coaching guys to turn their heads late in a route any more; all it does is slow you down, create separation and put you off balance.
  13. Maybe. But that field traditionally becomes a complete mess right around this time of year; maybe the hardest field in the entire league to kick from. They tried to resod it "again" after the Pitt game yesterday but I don't know how things went for the crew.
  14. If you know where and when the ball is coming in, you can get an arm in there and either deflect it or start ripping at a guys arms while he's trying to secure it.
  15. A DB looking at the WR is less likely to run into him than a DB looking away from the WR, imo. It's easier to adjust to somebody else's adjustment when you can see them.
  16. He's a caveman; he can't help it.
  17. I think it was better to not give up on a 3rd down play
  18. I'm still afraid that he's going to break at some point, especially behind that OL.
  19. They did call one up on a 1st/20 after a holding call, but didn't get much out of it.
  20. Yeah, that's why it really sort of stuck out to me. They must have had a great battle going all day and he really respected the guy. Or maybe they're related
  21. I think you answered your own question.
  22. Not really related to anything but Spencer Brown accidentally hurt Derrick Brown on an assignment later in the game and immediately went over to check on him to see if he was OK. I thought that was very nice of him.
