  1. If he slides right, the throw is late. Trusting his All-Pro tackle to hold his backside block, which he does 99% of the time, was perfectly acceptable.
  2. Actually they didn't. They ran a route combo looking to get somebody open for the first down, but all three guys ran their routes short of the sticks and the design did little to create stress or confusion in the secondary and the Chiefs had everybody covered easily.
  3. Yeah, I believe that is now the second time I have mentioned it in regards to a play that hasn't been discussed much. The first time was right after the game. "On third down they had three guys running crossers short of the sticks so Allen held it rolling out and ran out of real estate." Sorry about that; hope you can forgive my relentless crusade of two posts in one week. Despite your assumption of my stupidity, I'm well aware of what the Bills would have done on 4th and short. I'm also well aware of the exceedingly large volume of plays Allen has made outside the pocket in critical situations, particularly moving to his right, and am glad he made an effort to extend the play and not just get rid of it and put the Bills in a 4th down situation. A situation that would have been anywhere between 4th/2 and 4th/9.
  4. Total book nerd here. Just finished Rick Atkinson's The Guns at Last Light, the third in a three book series that starts in N Africa, continues through Italy and finishes in Western Europe. An outstanding and even-handed work if anybody is interested in the subject. Now starting a re-read of Neal Stephenson's Termination Shock. While not necessarily his very best work, it's still rock solid. For my money he is the best fiction writer on the planet so even his "not my best" is far superior to almost everyone else.
  5. You can get over it because nobody was open for a first down on that play.
  6. My buddy let his kids have a party at the house which ended up in massive hot dog fight around the bonfire that night(probably 50-100 hot dogs). In the morning there were no hot dogs left in the yard but there were at least a half dozen large piles of regurgitated whole unchewed hot dogs scattered throughout the house, courtesy of a big fat yellow Lab.
  7. I just think that position group is so important (and prone to injury) that you need multiple guys you can count on there.
  8. He's one of the 2-3 greatest coaches I've ever seen, but if anybody gives him what he is asking for I think they are doing both him and themselves a disservice.
  9. At no point in the history of football has S ever been more important than DT. If the Bills don't find a way to retain Daquan Jones, they have seriously ***** up, imo.
  10. While I do think the Bills were a bit too aggressive coming out of the 2:00 warning, this is simply not true. KC was defending the sticks at that point, which is part of the reason that Shakir was coming free on the post.
  11. He was one of my childhood heroes. That was heartbreaking to watch.
  12. That was an overwhelming defense with an outstanding veteran offensive line on the other side of the ball. Even I could have coached that group to .500 piss drunk in a lawn chair, and I'm dumber than a chicken.
  13. Squid: In the Navy, they taught us to wash our hands after we pee. Jar Head: In the Marines, they taught us not to piss on our hands.
  14. Has anybody happened to see what Mahomes average time to throw was in that game, or how that might have compared to how fast he was getting the ball out during the regular season? I know the DE's (aside from Rousseau) were not good that day, but I get the sense that the Bills corners and LBs couldn't have covered a corpse with a circus tent and that was the primary issue.
  15. I was referring to Michigan. And I don't put a lot of stock in his time at Stanford. He was 29-21. In the Pac-10. Not exactly setting the world on fire. I already mentioned that I think he rode superior talent and good coaches at SF until they fired him at the first opportunity. They were absolutely loaded and being driven into the ground by Mike Singletary, Who was 8-8 the season before he got fired and who is sooooo bad that not only is he no longer welcome in the NFL, he was last seen coaching a HS team to a 1-21 record in his last two years.
  16. I think he's like Nick Sirianni's even dumber older brother.
  17. In alphabetical order: 1- Josh Allen 1- Patrick Mahomes 2 - Everybody else
  18. "Led them" to a Super Bowl is inaccurate, imo. That was one of the most talent-loaded teams in the last decade and the majority of their success was a result of the work of Greg Roman and Vic Fangio. The instant that talent began to thin out and Harbaugh could only get them to 8-8, they got him out of their organization as fast as they possibly could. I think it's only a matter of time before this blows up in the Chargers' face.
  19. I think there's a big difference between coaching a bunch of kids who are bigger, faster and stronger than everybody they play against vs. coaching a bunch of grown-assed millionaires in a parity driven league. My expectation is a lot of turnover that will somewhat hamper the Chargers early, a year or two of contention with a really good roster and then the inevitable flameout when the players and a big chunk of the organization become sick of his idiocy.
  20. Just creating this so that, going forward I can put all the repetitive Belichik threads in one place instead of folks having to see them all over the board.
  21. Between Shakir and KJ Hamler, we're probably set in the slot.
  22. The solution is Brandon Jones(that guy in the #29 you saw all over the field in the regular season finale), because it doesn't break the bank and also screws the Dolphins.
  23. There are still hicks north of the Mason/Dixon. Y'all should recognize.....
  24. I think that resilience probably is healthy, as long as it's not taken to the extremes of an obsessive disorder. The fact that we're even here probably points up that we are indeed obsessed to some degree; I just appreciate the fact that for the most part, this group manages that obsession with wisdom, humor and self-awareness. That's not a common thing when it comes to large groups of humans and I respect the hell out of it when I see it. Stay golden, PB. 🤙 I also appreciate the fact that two people in one thread posting simultaneously can spell yeoman properly.
