  1. Significant risk in a prolonged holdout. He would be effectively diminishing his value for his contract year. As you call out, Davis could perform, which further diminishes his value. Another person called out Bell for the Steelers in 2018 as an example from my post. Even so, we are talking about an event that happens maybe once a decade. The probability he practices and gets injured is far greater than a holdout creating a situation that is truly detrimental to our success. Everybody gets hurt in such a situation and likely for that reason it is extremely uncommon in the NFL.
  2. Cook is not on the same level as Taron Johnson or Christian Benford?
  3. Hell, has that team ever been ready in week 1?
  4. Can anybody name one season in NFL history that was derailed because of a hold out? By a RB no less? This is just SOP at this point. Players hold out. Players deals get done, they get traded, or they play for the payday the next year. The holding out part is just part of the business at this point.
  5. Yes, Edmunds is more talented. Better? Who knows. Open market, Bernard would make a couple stones rubbed together. Taron is an excellent player and he signed that deal off his best season. QB's have a bit more luxury to take smaller salaries, so sort of a poor example on your part. You have no basis to form the conclusions you're outside of your feels. That's the point.
  6. All Pro's its a different thing. But I imagine making things up is probably still preferable. Benford is top 3, Johnson is top 2, Dawkins is the best. See how good I am at this. I mean, nobody else thinks that, but it doesn't matter. If they don't think that I can just play the small market card.
  7. Spencer Brown signed when people weren't sure he would even be an effective starter. A whole thread exists on here of people cursing that decision out. Milano made top 10 LB money when he signed back in 2021. Benford isn't even pulling 20 million a year. He knows he's not a top 5 corner. He would have waited if he didn't know that. Taron's making what, 10 million a year? In what world do you come up with your rating system? You think these players will just take 5 million a year annual hits for the benefit of team and process? Even Dawkins signed before the accolades really started to come. These players got fair offers at the time, that rank pretty close to what the agents said they will which is top 15 positional rankings. Some flirting in the top 10. I will make it really simple. Out of all the players you mentioned does James Cook have a chance to have as many or more All Pro nods when his career ends? Currently Dawkins has 2, White has 2, and Milano has 1. The rest have zero. I would say the answer is probably. It's not that crazy of a stretch to see James Cook get two All Pro's over the next 4 years.
  8. Cook is on the same level or better than all of them besides Josh he just doesn't play a premium position.
  9. Because our talent level sucks, who exactly was going to hold out again?
  10. What happens if he gets hurt?
  11. It's a relative concept and it depends on what a person feels they're worth. All people should have the stones to pursue what they think they're worth. Most people don't. They shrivel and accept what they get. If Cook wants to go after more, as is the case with most premier NFL talent, then by all means go get it. It doesn't mean he's less of anything. Teammate, player, or otherwise. We need more players who think they're good enough to hold out. So many people on here applaud Beane for all these guys he signs to a 2nd contract. Newsflash, the Beane special is a reflection of a player who doesn't think he is worth more on the open market more than Team, Process, and City. That isn't a good thing. Cook is the only hold out we have had in the entire McD era. We need more of these situations, not less.
  12. This has nothing to do with Cook. This is just outdated fans with outdated logic and outdated notions of the NFL today.
  13. and he's not doing anything outside of his contract is he?
  14. Honor what? They're one sided contracts. A team doesn't have to honor anything.
  15. Based on what? It's his place of employment. Would the greater good exist for you if you felt you were drastically underpaid?
  16. In other news, water is in fact wet
  17. To me the worst possible position a franchise can be in is having a Dak or a Tua, where they're good enough to likely demand franchise money but they aren't in the Top 5 or so guys that can really change the outcome. Such a difficult spot for a team and so hard to handle it correctly. We saw Dak and Tua get the bag. Baker didn't, then Baker ends up doing what he did. To say we lucked out would be an understatement.
  18. I'm thrilled he's the Dolphins starting QB. Just enough to lock them into purgatory forever.
  19. You just watch him vs any team that doesn't suck
  20. Far greater chance it doesn’t matter. But sure, for week 1, it’s a big game.
  21. I don't think insulting somebody's mom after they passed is a foot in the mouth moment. You miss a 100% of the shots you don't take. We have people here striving for excellence.
  22. Hell, I say keep him out until he's 125%. He doesn't need to rush back for the Ravens. These injuries are very tricky. We need him most for the home stretch.
  23. Kalshi, which does contract wagers on all sorts of things has the Seahawks and Patriots after Cowboys as far as where he plays this year. Not sure why those two teams but it involves money so probably a bit more juice to the squeeze than other rumors.
  24. You keep arguing things that nobody is disagreeing with. I said bring him in if possible. Use your firsts, do whatever it takes. This was about Milano, you keep talking about other things. If you want to disagree then make a post about how Milano can be both worthless to us, and somehow valuable to them. How he can spare us cap hit and quality, yet move the needle in a trade. He’s barely played the last two years. No value, and what value he has would be best served with Buffalo his last year.
