Or not taking in the context of those wins. Phillip Rivers on his death bed, Skyler Thompson, Mason Rudolph, Mac Jones, Bo Nix.....We got the two Baltimore wins as mother nature was in his corner. Otherwise we have beat vastly inferior teams, often too close for comfort then lost to anybody with a pulse.

Brady's system is signifgantly better for Josh along with our offense than Dorsey's. We are getting more with less. I know that's a complicated to understand. Our 3rd down defense by year 2019 9th 2020 19th 2021 1st 2022 6th 2023 18th 2024 30th I know having all the information probably isn't as good as cherry picking. This isn't hard, you're serving lay ups.

This is exactly what I said "One black mark on both of them, Beane and McD, is the roster itself. You look at the first rebuild and it’s beating the current one by a landslide. We had a better roster in 2019-2022. We are regressing. If you compare position by position it’s clear as day. Especially WR and DB" The offensive line is better, so is the RB positions. The DB's and WR's are signifgantly worse. Which are the two of the three most coveted positions in the NFL based on where teams select them in the NFL draft. The DB's are a downright liability. Which is probably why those old teams could perform on 3rd down. So to your point, will we still do well? Sure. Allen will basically guarantee that. But what does it matter in evaluating the trajectory or top end of this team? They're good enough to win 12-13 games. Can you imagine if they had the tools from the past? You will see all of this on full display week 1. Brady's system is better for Josh and the offense so much so that it makes up for the issues at WR, but the defense will remain a serious liability and needs a ton of + factors coming together for that to change.

Rest in peace, is it half of TBD or the 2025 Buffalo Bills?

I think some people are finally realizing that the path to a major defensive improvement is far from a given. Our secondary even when healthy is in rough shape if Max doesn’t contribute in a big way this year. God help us if Benford gets hurt. The DL is going to depend on rookies and Bosa. Which is a total crap shoot. We will still make a run either way. But ya, I’m concerned about the defense already. Wasn’t really from any new information. Just sinking in what this might look like.- 65 replies

The roster in 2020 is still unequivocally better. You can’t possibly make any direct argument against that statement. Which is why you didn’t.

If we are talking 10-13 million this needs to get done. If we are talking 14-15 million, you eat the million or two overspend for the greater good and get it done. If this is more than that it won’t get done. This isn’t that complicated of a contract. It’s crazy to me they can’t figure this out. Somebody has to be brutally stubborn here and I wouldn’t assume it’s Cook. Could be either. Will be interesting to learn what the numbers ended up being eventually.

Heading to Michigan next week! Hopefully I can avoid the Ick flying.... I don't think Josh is the type of player or person who would ever sign off on his HC being canned. Hopefully we can just bag one this year and be done with this conversation forever. The misconception a lot of have on this topic is the more "Pro Fire" posters not wanting McD to be successful. That is all they want. I don't see any reason why any posters would hold anything personal on this topic. We just want to get to a Super Bowl (and hopefully win one).

We need more fear of failure with a HOF QB. If we never leave our houses we can’t get hurt.

QB Comparisons to Josh, QB's from the Past and or the Present ?
Mikie2times replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with Elway and Favre, but Josh will never play like Brady. He’s not even close to playing like Burrow and Burrow is the most like Brady in the modern game. Brady was all on schedule. Josh is on schedule more now than he ever was, but considerably less than most NFL QB’s. -
I took it more as flowers to both. Burrow is so efficient at using his weapons teams game plan around the weapons. Josh is the weapon. You game plan around him.

It's not that simple. But the data shows QB's that perform at Allen's level win 6-7 out of every 10 games. Saying McD is the difference between a playoff birth or not is even more simplistic.

Since 2010 -Teams that finish a season with a QB who has a QBR of 65-69.99 are 475-288 = 62.25% -Teams that finish a season with a QB who has a QBR of 70+ are 582-208 = 73.67% Allen has three 70+ finishes since 2020 and two 65-70 finishes. So every year. That is a massive sample above. Teams with great QB's win and win a lot. The Bills/McD are 73.49% in this time. McD is the best in the league at turnover differential with a system and structure in place that leads to an unusual consistency. Two qualities which give him a leg up on at least 60-70% of NFL HC's. But you can also win a hell of a lot of games in this league with great QB play. So it's really hard to place a true value on what McD brings to team at this stage in the process. I think it's more clear what he brings to a rebuilding franchise. Which could be among the best in the league. Maybe he is also the guy you want now, but separating his value from Allen along with the postseason is not exactly easy. It never is with great HC and QB pairings, but at the very least those pairings usually have a Super Bowl attached to allow for for both to get the flowers.

We have been a lot closer to being booted in the wild card than people would like to admit. Every home game besides the Patriots we have been within a TD late in the 3rd quarter, 3 of the 4 late in the 4th quarter, half of them they had possession with a chance to win. These were not good teams, with bad QB's, at home.

Here is one for the masses. I don't care what side of the argument you're on. It's the start of 2025 playoffs. Do you feel more confident in a Super Bowl appearance if McD is the head coach? Somebody else is the head coach? To me, it's somebody else in a landslide. Now I assume we get to that place either way. Others don't. But once/if we do, I just can't possibly find a path to saying I trust McD more in that moment or have more hope if he's HC in that moment and yes, it's literally vs the field. I don't need to know who the HC is. When you feel like you know the outcome and the outcome is negative, not knowing the outcome is more positive than a negative outcome.

I don't think anybody wants drama. Perhaps a championship? Do you think Allen wouldn't have gotten to an AFC championship game by now or made multiple playoff appearances by now? The weight you give McD for that result is not the weight others give him. Good teams have moved on from success and won championships plenty of times. Assuming that is the wrong path and doing so in a sarcastic way is why this is such a turd conversation. You really have no idea, nor do I for that matter.

Sometimes I wonder if this team has an edge to it. That quote "change means movement, movement means friction". I have seen so many situations in life where a very contentious or nasty situation led to an extremely positive outcome longer term. I truly believe change and friction go hand and hand. Which is my concern with where we are at now. Our team is kumbaya, they know every second what to expect from McD. We are as processed as process can be. We are probably talking about winning the AFC East championship in camp. That's step one. Once we accomplish that, then we can move onto bigger goals. But at this stage we aren't a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in nearly 20 years. Which to me is who the "process" is meant for. The "process" is predictable. What isn't predictable is a guy walking in who the team doesn't know, hasn't seen. Saying you still don't have this ring and I'm not going to BS around. That's what this is about. We are going for this ring, this will be the year you win it, and anything short of that is not a success. Sure, that coach will burn out fast. But I think this team needs a lightning rod. It has no conflict, friction, and shockingly, comes up short in the most difficult moments. Failures which I think have set up camp in players minds. Playing not to lose in those moments and not playing to win. Like the Houston Oilers with Warren Moon. These are the reasons you make a coaching change. It's not about finding somebody who is better.

So if McD isn't here we can go to 3 Super Bowls in 12 years? Sign me up. Which is sort of the point of this entire conversation. This is about different, better isn't even part of the conversation. Even in the case of what most consider to be an all time HC in Andy Reid, different resulted in a Super Bowl. Sometimes you just have to move on from leadership roles. Plenty of Championship teams have come to this realization. I'm pretty sure Josh will keep the floor at a Wild Card. If so, what is the massive risk here? He's had a great run. If he can't get over the hump you need to eventually consider other options.

Coaches are going to play the biggest role in close outcomes.

Does the rest of the post matter when the first sentence misses this badly? Regardless of what side you're on with such an outcome, I would bet my life he will not get fired even if he loses in the wild card round.
