  1. I'm hesitant to evaluate DT's with stats and even in my worst critique I would never think a 1st round yet to be drafted player would be a replacement. Ed has worked out. To what level still remains to be seen. Any future draft pick has not accomplished that much.
  2. It's not like Oliver has been bad. He was drafted high. People expected him to be John Randle. At the end of the day you don't know his true value and I don't really expect Beane to know that a year or two after you draft a guy. Apparently he liked him. At the least, liked him enough to get further into the contract and evaluate how he might compare to other replacements. it doesn't appear from his point of view that replacements compare all that favorably.
  3. DT's and the names you read aren't just interchangeable in our system. Perhaps the Bills don't like what they see in the pipeline as far as 3 tech DT's. I will bet a shiny object either way that as a whole, this board and the common Bills fan has very little ability in determining what Ed Olivers impact is for this system and his league value. Not to say we can't make normal observations, but as was the case with Edmunds, it is very hard to leverage those observations against a system that we don't fully understand. I think we have to at least entertain the possibility we could be wrong in our evaluation, given what teams were willing to pay for Edmunds and in this instance, what I assume they would be willing to pay for Oliver. If I recall, we also hated Daboll which surely didn't age well. Let's see how it plays out. I will throw the pitch fork to the side for now.
  4. That was one of my first thoughts. Maybe freeing up space for Hopkins?
  5. I think it’s one cut, with an extremely talented drone flyer. I know a guy who can maneuver one like this. Hover the damn thing two feet from your face and take off like an air force pilot. Also does videos. He wears goggles with a camera so he’s basically in the drone with what he’s seeing. I thought this was great. Thanks for the share.
  6. I wonder what it would have taken for his wish to come true. I don’t think it’s as simple as just saying erase 13 seconds. Hell, I don’t know if it’s as simple as erasing 13 seconds and Cincinnati. To get recognized at his age as a defensive coach you need to be as good as he was in the regular season and then dominate for a full postseason with a SB win. which in turn likely gets you labeled as a “guru”. I don’t think he would have ever got another HC offer unless that happened.
  7. Don't lie, it was introduction to basic programming
  8. Speculation is his concern at this time is getting into the HOF. Which may or may not be believable, but given the way he gushed over BB's affirmation in Hard Knocks, I think he has some desire to make an impression beyond financials. If his goal truly is to get into the HOF he might not need a Super Bowl ring to do it, but it would surely help. I also think he would relish a chance to play against BB twice a year. I don't think it's ALL about the money. But some of it is. I really don't think either Buffalo or KC is presenting a deal that is very lucrative. Likely incentive laden. I don't think he likes that. Perhaps still shopping it against others. He has no reason to rush.
  9. Yup. I loved watching Toney and Pitts at Florida that year. What a fun offense. I knew Toney was legit. It didn't seem like he could get on the field with the Giants and the rumor was he was injured but the Giants felt he could play. Then he was a little bit made of glass in the stint with KC, although he did perform well at critical moments. In his career he's had 37 chances at starting, he ended up only starting 9 times. He was available to start 22 times. So even when he was available he started less than 50% of the time. He reminds me so much of Percy Harvin.
  10. No, he’s not coming off an injury
  11. I actually love Cincy.... Clean, fun city. Skyline chili is a must. J. Rubys has a decent steakhouse. Expensive but good food. Aquarium is in the top few in the country. Great area in general if you like Bourbon. Buffalo Trace distillery is only about 60 miles. Plenty of things to do, I think you will enjoy it.
  12. He is 1 1/2 years older than Stefon Diggs Prior to 2021 he started 126 of 128 regular season games His yards per game average last year was 10th best in the league He is not coming off any injury limitations nor does anybody have reason to believe his risk for injury is higher than any other player Prior to the only major injury in his career which occurred in 2021, he had 115 catches for 1,400 yards and 6 TD's The nature of his PED suspension seems to revolve around healing vs enhancement / it wouldn't seem he is at much greater risk for PED suspensions in the future, but we just don't know enough about the specifics Hopkins has had less wear on his body the last two years as a result of injury and suspension He has been a hall of fame talent his entire career. He just came off a year with a bad QB throwing him the ball, sometimes a 3rd teamer, and he was 10th in yards per game. It seems like a reach to think he doesn't have a couple elite years left. Get it done if you can. I don't understand how it's even a conversation.
  13. Pretty sure it's slide
  14. I'm not saying anything regarding Harrison, or even if it's good or bad quality. People are just wired different. Peyton, by all accounts, did not have any issue getting in a players face. Josh isn't wired that way. That doesn't mean he is less or not capable of being a great leader. If he took a personality assessment many of us take for work, like the DISC assessment, his dominance score would be low and his influence score would be high. He will lead by inspiring, positive energy, etc. Not my way or the highway or with force. Diggs would be the opposite type. His dominance score would be very high. Possibly with a decent influence score as well. Diggs is more of what society considers to be an alpha type personality. I think all this nit picking with Diggs all offseason is way over the top. Maybe Diggs just understands life matters more than some OTA. Maybe he understands he will never get the time back he has right now again. It's a long offseason, so why not enjoy being a human being. All of which I could care less so long as he brings it on Sundays. I will say, I'm rather tired of Beane and teammates justifying is temper tantrums. The whole, he's so competitive stuff is just malarkey. Who isn't highly competitive at this level? It's not an excuse to be a crappy teammate and show your a$$. I hope that stuff stops and he learns to be more of a professional.
  15. He boxed all offseason. The Bills made a video to prove it. 🙂 Really looks like a guard
  16. Phase three is also known as the Peterman stage. Players can look good during Peterman but eventually throw more INT’s than completions.
  17. We blew the Houston game and KC game. We almost blew the Indy game and Dolphins game. We have maybe one legit playoff win against a serious contender? A pick six vs the Ravens and a few games that went our way compared to a few that didn't are not enough to make up for the complete eggs we have laid in bad weather home games with this offense. It doesn't matter and is not worth risking Von when even if we went at it hard for it, with our schedule, the odds are very low we get it.
  18. I never thought I would argue against home field being important for a Buffalo team, but Allen/Bills have a career 24-14 road record vs 28-11 at home. Allen has a passer rating that is 4 points better in road games. We are an excellent road team. We would benefit a great deal from a bye week, but I don't know how much we benefit from playing in Buffalo. We are more of a finesse team until proven otherwise and those type of teams don't do well in the high winds and snow.
  19. Brown would have been very good today. His size, speed, and power were well before his time. He accomplished what he did playing between 12 and 14 games. He had 7 season in which he averaged more than 100 yard per game. Walter Payton and OJ had less than half that total. He is one of the true legends.
  20. We will make the playoffs without him. Why not give him until the back half of the year? We only get one shot at this and we have already showed we can be a regular season champion without him. We don't need him until the playoffs.
  21. It's hard not to wonder what the game would look like if the world took it as seriously as we did. So many exceptional athletes exist that will never touch a football.
  22. I put my cat to sleep of 18 years a few weeks ago and it's just not normal right now. I'm 41, which means I have had her for basically every major moment in my adult life. It's not supposed to be normal. I have also lost a parent. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough expressing yourself on here. No normal way to deal with loss of somebody you love. Person or animal. Time is about it.
  23. Super interesting read. In general terms, regardless of blitzing, I think more teams will be looking to contain Josh in the pocket vs flat out rush him. The goal being don't let him run. Running helps his game so much. Helps him establish rhythm, gives him an out when he doesn't have a good read. It's sort of the dimension that made him a unicorn along with some of those insane broken plays. At the end of the day, teams are going to force Josh into being more of traditional NFL QB. To sit in the pocket and not scramble. To take the underneath routes and be patient. As several have mentioned, it's always punch and counter punch. This progression of teams removing what you do best, then getting back to the drawing board and understanding how to beat it. Repeating over and over. This progression is what makes the great ones truly unstoppable. I think Josh and his team are aware of what teams are doing. I think he trains in a way to combat the latest strategies being used. I certainly think we have upgraded our short attack heavily. This could be a really great year for him if he learns how to navigate these new twists teams are throwing at us. Looking forward to it!
