  1. Reid, Spags, Mahomes McDermott, Brady, Allen Allen is the closest in that comparison but still. Being slightly worse with our coaching on both sides. Then Mahomes is a tick better than everybody else. Chiefs are going to win more of the coin flips than they lose and certainly when it counts.
  2. And I will say this @Success I'm happy we have some people to drowned out the Nancie's like myself. It would be pretty miserable if that wasn't the case. But part of the pain of this era is knowing that things can appear a certain way but not actually happen and with remarkable consistency to boot. We can appear like we are the best or that we are ready and then it doesn't work out that way. No amount of success in the regular season or speculation on what we could be will make me feel like this team is ready. They will be ready when they beat the Chiefs and same goes for the Bengals as they seem to be more difficult for us to match up with.
  3. It's a dumb question. It doesn't matter. I could have made a similar hypothetical after 13 seconds and the following year we got blown out at home vs the Bengals. Further, why do you think the "better" team always wins? That's not how this works. What is even the definition of the better team? The one that can beat up on average teams in the regular season more consistently. Ok, then we probably are the better team.
  4. I remember when I used to play a close friend of mine in basketball. It was always fairly close. Depending on the score you might even say we were just about even. But he rarely won. Somehow I always seemed to win. Always. So you could argue it was close, but it really wasn't. Those couple of points might as well been five times as many for as hard as it was for him to overcome. If this thread is your version of logical I'm thrilled you don't think I am.
  5. No team is light years ahead of anybody but I think you're underestimating how far ahead the Chiefs are. They have never failed to reach an AFC championship game since 2018. Patriots also won by small margins. That didn't mean anybody was close. We might as well be on another planet until we beat them in the playoffs. Same goes for the Bengals.
  6. If Josh's fumble is recovered by Kansas City he doesn't even get the throw to Shakir. If Kansas City doesn't fumble in our end zone that drive doesn't matter. If Toney isn't Offside we don't make the playoffs. It's funny how these what if's only seem to work in our favor.
  7. I don't sit here and say what if Valdes-Scantling caught that long throw vs Green Bay at the end? What if KC had a defense in 2018 when Brady came back against them in the AFC Championship? What if Toney wasn't Offside? The rather hilarious thing about this forum of late as it relates to Josh and McD is people only want to play the revisionist history for things that didn't go our way. So the things that went our way are apparently earned but the things that didn't are unlucky. Toney isn't Offside and we don't even make the playoffs. Josh's fumble on the last drive is recovered by KC as it should have been and the game is over. He had 3 downs and 2 passing downs. If he completes one pass he might earn another. He didn't make it happen. I don't micro analyze every successful or unsuccessful game winning drive absolving the participants for things that occurred on singular plays. Nobody remembers these things about other players, just our fans and our players and really, just Josh and McD. The list would go on forever about the would of should of could have beens if you really want to play this game.
  8. This one is close to the Stevie catch, if not better considering the entire outcome. This is among my all time favorite plays. Always was a huge Moulds fan. Wait for the replay. Pretty sick.
  9. We did or didn't. Tired of the hypotheticals on why we didn't. Our entire forum is hypotheticals on why we didn't. Meanwhile Mahomes and KC had it's own 13 seconds in 2018 vs the Patriots we never heard about it again. Go figure.
  10. This thread is about game winning drives. Which was ironic to me because the Bills were sent home on a failed game winning drive. I do not feel particularly great as it relates to Allen on game winning drives in the playoffs. He had chances vs Houston before regulation and in OT, a TD wins. He had chances against KC, a TD wins. In fact name one time in Allen's career the game ended with us scoring a TD? How many times has it even happened under 2 minutes? A few sure, but this is far from a sure thing given he's the "best" at it. Field goals have been different but we didn't just watch Mahomes win on a FG did we? He ties it in such fashion but still needed to do what Allen has never done in his career to win it. I used his 3rd down data to discuss one of the reasons why I feel that way. When you have one singular drive against an elite team I don't think being off schedule benefits you. You can't run like you can in other spots so that process you talk about that works in the regular season gets taken away. We see the same thing with Josh and OT. He is not the guy you want if you need a TD and have one drive to do it.
  11. You're right. This is why people can't have a conversations on this topic. People will steer things how they must to fit whatever narrative they have. My post was talking about his throwing on third down and game winning drives in the playoffs. You were the one that diverted away from what I discussed with something totally different. Historically Allen is not a good passer on 3rd downs. You want to debate that? Historically Allen is good on 3rd downs when you include his running. Not debating that. PFR under career splits. They don't separate success rate for that but it's not hard taking first downs / total attempts. Below is this year.
  12. It's the % of throws that resulted in a 1st down on 3rd down.
  13. Career success rate passing, not running Mahomes 48.8% Burrow 45.0% Allen 43.2% We do a lot of things really well in the regular season
  14. I guess I don't feel overwhelmed with confidence late in a playoff game that Allen will score that final TD. Not like I feel with Mahomes or Brady. Regular season sure. He seems to deliver more consistently in that spot. He also did in 13 seconds but I pause because that was one of the worst defenses in the league. So can he? Sure. But I don't think it's near a level of those two guys I mentioned. I also attribute that mostly to his ability to play within structure with consistency. Look at the below clip at 3:08. Is Mahomes or Brady considering running in that spot? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6UzerC7LC8&t=245s You could say well maybe he didn't have anybody open. Maybe...But the reality is he isn't a top 10 QB throwing the ball on 3rd down in his career (not an opinion). His career rating on 3rd down is 84.9, Mahomes has a rating of 110.3 on 3rd down, Burrow a rating of 101. Now include his legs and he is a top 5 QB on 3rd down with EPA. But that's the issue with Josh. Going off script does not deliver the consistency of delivering on script. It produces some incredible moments but isn't as repeatable. You create repeatable actions by throwing on schedule. That is the area of his game I want him to get better in as he ages.
  15. McMarty's defense allowed 19 second half points to Houston. But we did post a 1st half shut out. Plus that was against Pre Touchy Watson who was much better than post touchy Watson so we need to factor that in. Against the Colts the next year McMarty's defense gave up 472 yards and 27 first downs. But we can't really focus on that performance given the placement of the sun. Plus it was Rivers last game so you know he was going to ball out. I understand we allowed 439 yards and 29 first downs to the Chiefs in the AFC championship, but we made it. When was the last time we made it that far? Then we take 13 seconds and we say "I get it". We have to say that. It's like getting caught in bed with a stripper, powder on her chest, and your nose looking dusty. You can't exactly call it flour at that point. Which paves the way for the next two years of failure. We were sleepy. We were injured. McMarty Apologists live in alternate universe where the claps don't make a sound, the gingers don't get burned from the sun, and the losses are wins.
  16. In the Houston game we got the ball on the 50 yard line with a little over a minute down 3. We kicked a 47 yard field goal to go to OT. We then failed to score on our first OT drive. In the most recent KC game we were down 3 and we attempted a 44 yard field goal and missed. In 13 seconds we had multiple drives that should have ended the game. Are we front runners? Sure. We are built to defend the pass. It can be an avalanche when teams can no longer be balanced against us. We have no victories in the playoffs in which we were down more than a TD. Our defensive system + lack of diversity in it has performed very poorly against the better QB's in the playoffs. I guess my question would be we are currently 0-3 in winning close games late so why should we believe we can do so if it occurs again in the playoffs? That is with the assumption the defense can even put us in such a position which hasn't always been the case. Various reasons why we are 0-3 but the fact remains that is the record and nearly every element of our team has had some level of influence in why that is.
  17. I’m not talking about 13 seconds. He most certainly did anything a player could do in that game. I’m talking about the playoff game against KC. Any hall of fame QB in history will take the ball in that situation. So when you say he did all he could do, sorry but he needs to score on that drive. He had the chances. In addition to nearly not having a chance with the fumble. I don’t expect you to agree. That’s fine.
  18. I mean, I don’t put things on Josh. But at the end of the day we had the ball last against a team and player that is viewed as the best and we didn’t score a TD. We can go on all day about how others haven’t scored TD’s, others had FG kickers hit the FG, but we needed that drive. You expect the best in NFL history to get that drive. So I don’t think I’m going to say he can’t do any better. I would hope most on here would want and expect him to close that one out. If we say in future we have the ball last, down 3, vs the very best, most teams will say sure and will acknowledge they have to score or they just aren’t the team.
  19. Same concept. Kincaid cleared out. 359 mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6UzerC7LC8
  20. McDermott will be here long past the point in which no wants him here. It doesn't matter if he misses the playoffs next year. I hate everything I just said but it's how I see Terry managing this.
  21. Something tells me she has a vibrating Josh Allen bobblehead
  22. I actually like this one and have some hope it could happen. His year 1 was adjusting from a predominantly man system and joining the NFL. His year two he was largely banged up. If he can start the year healthy next season I see him as a guy that has the potential to really outplay his current spot on the depth chart.
