Name one time the Dems have held the country hostage with the debt ceiling? This a Republican issue that never used to be an issue. There is absolutely zero reason the debt ceiling should be raised through reconciliation other than Republicans wanting Dems to use up one their reconciliation bills. If Republicans want only Dems to pass the debt ceiling increase, they can do that by ending the filibuster. Not a single Republican has to vote yes on increasing the debt ceiling, but the Republicans can stop Dems on voting for it. Plain, simple facts.

A bunch of cells do not make a body. With the vaccine not just a second body is involved but the bodies of everyone you are around each day. Reconciliation bills can be used for anything budget related. So yea, the debt limit can be increased through reconciliation. However, it never has because prior to the tea party it’s been one of the easiest bills to pass. Usually reconciliation bills are done once per fiscal year. For example when the Republicans had Congress and the White House , they passed TCJA. The next fiscal year they tried to pass getting rid of ACA before McCain did his thumbs down. The three bills is something that Dems got from the Senate parliamentarian towards the beginning of Biden’s term. (side note on reconciliation bills, when the Republicans passed TCJA, they wanted it called TCJA. Bernie Sanders appealed to the Senate parliamentarian and said that provision didn’t affect the budget, so after TCJA passed, he got it struck from the record that it’s called TCJA)

I honestly don’t know if you’re an idiot or just play one on a message board. A debt limit increase has never been passed through reconciliation. It doesn’t need to be. It can be passed by Democrats easily if the Republicans would end the filibuster.
