  1. No, Republicans are holding it hostage. Reconciliation isn’t a normal way to pass legislation. Mitch just has to say we will end the filibuster and no Republicans will vote for it and it will pass easy. Dems are the ones waiting to pass it. They can pass it at any time but Republicans are saying no. And that’s not a scare tactic. That’s how the US fiscal situation works.
  2. You do know the Dems can pass a debt ceiling increase if the Republican Senators wouldn’t filibuster. Republicans are the only ones holding it up and they’re holding it up because they’re filibustering it in the Senate. Not a single Republican has to vote for it. Yes it’s an op Ed but it has factual quotes in there like: During the recent debate, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen highlighted some of the potential consequences of a failure to raise the debt ceiling. If Treasury could no longer borrow and its cash balance were insufficient for the government to pay its bills, Yellen testified that: “Nearly 50 million seniors could stop receiving Social Security payments or receive them delayed.”
  3. Yes? It’s government spending it’s not some new concept that. It makes it even worse the domestic terrorists try holding the debt ceiling hostage: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-debt-limit-could-delay-social-security-benefits-11633972853
  4. Why do Republicans scream “it’s my body, my choice” when it comes to vaccine mandates and not abortion. Hypocrites. What A Mess
  5. How was it self inflicted and deliberate? Medicare increases can eat that up. Plus Republicans don’t want to increase the debt ceiling which can lead to SS recipients not getting their checks.
  6. @SoCal Deekis the best poster on the right here. They have well formed arguments, willing to change positions and stick to sound positions. I really wish more people on the left and right would be more like him. They also pointed out what has become a cesspool on this board “Why, so you can continue to flood this message board with every nonsensical piece of garbage you harvest out of the Twitter sphere? You don’t think people can go on Twitter and read this crap for themselves? Copying and pasting is NOT the purpose of a message board. Try offering something of value, or a slightly well reasoned adult worthy opinion once in a while and you’ll watch my standard bored to deathresponse change. Ready, set, go!” Would love to get less spam here and more real discussion from posters vs bots.
  7. Knock it off. You’re acting like a 2 year old. You said: “Meanwhile Joey is actually instituting communism...“ Youve replied several times to me and you haven’t show a single Biden policy, proposal, dumb ass comment he’s said that shows he’s actually instituting communism. If you’re going to reply to this, leave it to one of two comments: 1) you back up your comment and show actual proof of Biden instituting communism through bills passed, agenda items, etc or 2) you say you’re full of **** and you’re spreading fake news.
  8. Yet none of you provided any. No one here has shown an actual policy from Biden that is communist. If he’s such a communist, shouldn’t it be easy to say, hey here’s a bill he supports that communist. He’s an executive order he signed that makes us more communist. My opinion is there is none. The only thing you two have said is there are some but I can’t tell you them. Which policy encouraged class warfare? Many non-communist counties have mask mandates. Does that make every country that has a mask mama date communist now? I assume you’re speaking of the town halls. No one in the Biden admin is saying throw people in jail if they have a different opinion. They’re saying people who are doing terrorist stuff towards school boards should be labeled as such. Here you can read the School Boards Associations letter and examples of people doing really bad things that are in fact criminal at school boards: https://nsba.org/-/media/NSBA/File/nsba-letter-to-president-biden-concerning-threats-to-public-schools-and-school-board-members-92921.pdf oh hey! See that, I found a primary source document that points at a policy adopted by the school board association that they conveyed to the Biden Admin. Really not hard to do things like that. Don’t know why you can’t find an actual Biden policy that makes us communists now.
  9. Ive just yet to see any policies that reflect communism and you have not pointed out any either.
  10. Stop defending a criminal. He’s a criminal, you don’t need anything else. Dude broke the law. @SoCal Deek said it best about posts like yours, “Why, so you can continue to flood this message board with every nonsensical piece of garbage you harvest out of the Twitter sphere? You don’t think people can go on Twitter and read this crap for themselves? Copying and pasting is NOT the purpose of a message board. Try offering something of value, or a slightly well reasoned adult worthy opinion once in a while and you’ll watch my standard bored to death response change. Ready, set, go! “
  11. Source? Plus 2 of the 3 stimulus were passed while Trump was President. I doubt the $1,400 stimulus passes while Biden was President had much effect on wages.
  12. Threads been going on for a bit. Don’t know about rehashing it all, but just the last page sure does seem like a ton of people defending criminals.
  13. 1) You generally say all of the policies without naming any and then go on a rant. 2) You generally say all of the policies without naming any and then go on a rant. 3) The Biden admin has not instituted any minimum wage hikes. Labor shortages though have caused places to increase prices. So yet again, you haven’t pointed to any specific Biden policy.
  14. The only stupid comment I read was : MeanwhileJoey is actually instituting communism... That was your comment. You feel Biden is instituting communism. Which of his policies are communist?
  15. Don’t know why you posted all that. You could have ended it here: On Wednesday, October 6, Walk Away founder Brandon Straka pled guilty to a Class B Misdemeanor for the crime of disorderly conduct inside the US Capitol Grounds on January 6th. ——- Another guilty person.
  16. Which policies led to your made up inflated cost?
  17. Definition of a terrorist, per the dictionary: “a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.” Further, we get a definition in George Bushes Patriot act (Note Patriot Act is federal): A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act "dangerous to human life" that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism. The hissy fits Republicans are throwing at school boards are using unlawful violence and intimidation. The hissy hits fall directly under the Patriot Acts definition of domestic terrorism. Your articles is just a bunch of right wing whining that you’re always persecuted when you’re not. These domestic terrorists have gotten so bad the National School Board Association is asking for Federal help. https://nsba.org/-/media/NSBA/File/nsba-letter-to-president-biden-concerning-threats-to-public-schools-and-school-board-members-92921.pdf In New Jersey10, Ohio11, and other states12, anti-mask proponents are inciting chaos during board meetings. In Virginia13, an individual was arrested, another man was ticketed for trespassing, and a third person was hurt during a school board meeting discussion distinguishing current curricula from critical race theory and regarding equity issues. In other states including Washington14, Texas15, Wisconsin16, Wyoming17, and Tennessee18, school boards have been confronted by angry mobs and forced to end meetings abruptly. A resident in Alabama, who proclaimed himself as “vaccine police,” has called school administrators while filming himself on Facebook Live. In Ohio, an individual mailed a letter to a school board member labeling the return address on the envelope from a local neighborhood association and then enclosing threatening hate mail from another entity.21 This correspondence states that, “We are coming after you and all the members on the ... BoE [Board of Education].” This hate mail continues by stating, “You are forcing them to wear mask—for no reason in this world other than control. And for that you will pay dearly.” Among other incendiaries, this same threat also calls the school board member a “filthy traitor,” implies loss of pension funds, and labels the school board as Marxist. Earlier this month, a student in Tennessee was mocked during a board meeting for advocating masks in schools after testifying that his grandmother, who was an educator, died because of COVID-19.22 These threats and acts of violence are affecting our nation’s democracy at the very foundational levels, causing school board members – many who are not paid – to resign immediately and/or discontinue their service after their respective terms.23 Further, this increasing violence is a clear and present danger to civic participation, in which other citizens who have been contemplating service as either an elected or appointed school board member have reconsidered their decision.
  18. Well no. I’ve read things from House Ways and Means and the JTC summary on provisions along with some (not all) of some hearings on this bill. Ive interjected my opinions in a letter from a large lobby group to Congress on the subject. I’ve spoken on the proposals to thousands of tax professionals. You’ve read a partisan article that gets a ton wrong. This has the potential to target the black market. This has the potential to target people who are trying purposefully to evade the tax laws. Again, I’m against it. But because the cost for banks will be too great compared to revenues. We should be funding the IRS. We should be giving them every dollar they can get. We should be passing laws better written than this to help the IRS.
  19. Y’all know we have decent data that the Republican states that ended the enhanced unemployment early are still seeing massive labor shortages right? For labor, this isn’t a Biden thing. This isn’t a Trump thing. This is a fundamental shift in the US labor market that’s going on right now. It was something that was going on as we saw boomers starting to transition out of the labor market and the newer generations with different values come up. Instead of a slow process on the change, COVID threw gas on a fire to speed it up.
  20. Ummmmmmm……. I’m guessing you’re not a doctor but if your nuts are united together, go to a doctor. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2021/10/05/garland-educators-threats-masks-fbi/ Merrick Garland on Monday ordered the FBI to work with local leaders nationwide to help address what he called a “disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence” against educators and school board members over highly politicized issues such as mask mandates and interpretations of critical race theory. “While spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution, that protection does not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views,” he wrote. “Threats against public servants are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation’s core values. Those who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring that our children receive a proper education in a safe environment deserve to be able to do their work without fear for their safety.” Mask disputes have regularly made headlines in recent months. A Northern California father was banned from his daughter’s school after he allegedly struck a teacher in the face while arguing about masks. In Austin’s Eanes Independent School District, the superintendent said one parent ripped a teacher’s mask off her face, while others yelled at another teacher to remove her mask because they claimed it made it difficult to understand what she was saying. After Texas parent rips mask off teacher’s face, school official warns: ‘Do not fight mask wars in our schools’ A school meeting in Michigan was disrupted when a man performed a Nazi salute to protest masks in the classroom. A letter mailed to an Ohio school board member called the official “a filthy traitor” for instituting a mask mandate. ——- For the so called party of personal responsibility, Republicans don’t want to take responsibility for their own actions.
  21. Don’t worry, he thought Trump was going to be President in 2021 too.
  22. Dont think you get how the proposal would work. Plus the recent negotiations would push it to $10,000 vs $600 which favors the wealthy. Under the proposal, no specific bank transactions would be posted but if more than $600 came out or into an account, it would go to Treasury. Bank Secrecy Act has something kind of similar. It would help the IRS catch tax cheats. Most Americans have their income reported with W-2s and 1099s. There are some that do not. This would allow the IRS to say hey, this person has $400,000 coming out of a bank account where the transaction is $600 or more, but wait he’s only reporting $100,000 of income. How is that? I think though we should be mad at this policy but not because of your reason. The reason is the cost of compliance will most likely not justify the recaptured revenues.
