  1. I had that same thought, but then you just have to worry about the self-esteem issues a teenage girl would have to face if she was ordered to dress up as a Twinkie in front of all of her friends, no? The only safe path is to choose each girl carefully, to reflect the demographic exactly. So.. lets say there are 10 positions on the squad. They'll need to look at the local population. After that's done, they can plan the squad out to reflect the actual real-life breakdown. Lets say there are 1 black folks, 2 asians, 6 "cheerleader" style, and 1 over weight white girl. I went a bit low on the black population because in the time I spent out there, I don't think I saw any one that fit that description. However, you need representation - just in case - don't want to hurt any maybe feelings. It's important to take every precaution necessary to ensure every build, weight, and race is properly represented, regardless of pure athletic ability. Then, and only then, will everyone be happy. It works for us! -Jeff
  2. There's one big difference, though. They're asked to cover up because "officials" fear it might cause eating disorders in younger girls... pressure to fit into a tiny uniform and all that. Here, however, they're asked to cover up because it's indecent and sinful. Either way, you're right. A case of a gov't protecting it's citizens from themselves. -Jeff
  3. Unless they get 2 on 'em in 30 seconds, that's a record.
  4. Miller sounds right on tonight...
  5. Same here. I'd have to disagree as well. I don't hate my job, but it's not necessarily something I love to go do every day. On top of that, job security isn't necessarily the best.
  6. But you'll offend someone... and that's bad... right?
  7. Yeah, I've had this talk with folks at work (we all get along pretty good, if you can't tell). I haven't yet put my finger on why it's happening. The closest I can come up with is lack of religion. Now, I'm not a religious guy at all, but it did at the very least put us all on the same moral footing. Without that baseline, there's no real common ground. Screw the religion argument, people just aren't ready to live without it. Yes, I do believe it's all related. The next time you attempt to pass someone going 60 in a 65 and they speed up to 70 or the next time someone with one of those damn BlueTooth headsets on skirts in front of you in line and pretends not to notice because they're too busy talking to the electronics... I really believe it's the same problem. LIke I said, lack of humanity. Everyone else is just an obsticle along my way to finishing the day. Some I cut off, some I bump, some I shoot. I go out of my way not to project that same vibe. I still hold doors for women. I'll keep the elevator open for the guy with the borg-ear even though I just know he'll not thank me. Doesn't bother me, though, I don't do it for them! Break into my house, though, you'd better believe you're going to eat .357 for a midnight snack. -Jeff
  8. Yeah, but Comedy Central pussed out.
  9. I agree. There is a complete lack of humanity about it. In my opinion, it's the same line of "me first" thinking that cuts people off in traffic, pushes past in line, and skirts around on a double-yellow, just on a different level. You cut me off? I'll show you! You looked at my girlfriend's ass (even though her thongs are hanging out?) I'll show you! You pushed me accidentally? I'll show you! Take a deep breath, remember he has a family, and move on. -Jeff
  10. Yeah, I lean that way too and I have to turn him off. Honestly, what the hell gives him the right to classify people as "Great Americans?" He's a talk show host! I flip between him and Rhodes on 1690 on the way home just to see how different - yet oh how very alike - they both are. Ha, this is Jamie Dupree on News talk 750, dubbble yuuu esss beeeeeee. I hate that. I'd like to punch him in the jaw. Lots of people live what those guys preach. I remind the guys at work that they're just entertainers all the time. They kinda forget. When the Fair Tax book came out, one guy bought like 5 copies because Boortz said to give it to friends.. when he asked when I'm buying mine (as if NOT buying them made me a bad person) I simply said, "I'm not. I understand how it works. No reason to buy them." He tried to explain that if it makes it high on the NY Times list, it will draw more attention to the problem and it's not about money.
  11. I like Paris France =) Boortz is pretty good. Beats the hell out of that mouthpiece Sean. I put him on the same plane as Rhodes.
  12. You're an exception to the rule. I *wish* I could walk up to the "corner store" and buy stuff like I used to do back in Buff. It's an 8 mile ride past neighborhood after neighborhood here!
  13. Meanwhile, you haven't walked in years and you wonder why you're out of breath after climbing a set of stairs .
  14. Yes, it is. I honestly have no idea what people do on those trips. I applaud those that do that type of thing!
  15. I was thinking the same. What do people actually _do_ on these trips?
  16. Wow. I just had a very audible "instictive" WTF slip out at the office.
  17. Wow, that made me actually say "WTF" quite loud at the office. WTF? Ha.
  18. Hell, bump parking, beer, pop, and refreshments. It would do wonders to help the "violent raging drunk" problem, too. -Jeff
  19. I just can't help but picture LA fans heading into corporate luxury boxes asking questions like, "who did you say the quarterback was again?" if they're out in CA. In Toronto, you're getting all of the same Southern Ontario/WNY folks. Edit.. I'm probably not done, but boy, would it suck. I don't have any real "passion" for other teams. Ironically, I'd probably only go to pro games when I was given free tickets by salesmen. Edit Again... Thrashers games are like that. Big difference between Buff and Atl.
  20. Whoa whoa whoa! So you're saying WNY needs more municipal employees and that they need to make *more* money? I'll tell you, half the prob... I'm kidding. I agree with you 100% in theory, unfortunately. Raise prices. If the economy can't sustain the costs, find one that can. But the last thing you're going to get here is an unbiased opinion. In this case? Tax the hell out of Oregon to pay for OBD for all I care. -Jeff
  21. Right, but does the national following really matter? It's a problem of local market size and the ability to sustain the business without the revenue sharing, right? Everyone knows the Bills have a bit national following. That's the problem. The fan base isn't concentrated enough in the WNY for the team to be self-sustaining. Yes? No? Am I missing it completely? Jeff
  22. Or how about the LA WeHaveTriedThisAFewTimesBeforeButItWillWorkThisTimeWeAreSureOfIt's? They go, I'm done. At least I save the $200 something a year on Sunday ticket (minus the cost of Center Ice). Hijack Alert: What about Toronto? If they _had_ to go? NFL's been trying to poke into other countries (probably thinking El Footballo, though). Might work as a last resort...
  23. While I've never been partial to rallies and the like, I do think the whole situation does need to receive attention. Kraft et al. aren't going to feel sorry for Buffalo fans, but people may take notice of the economic impact on WNY. I personally see it as another part of WNY's slow death. I don't view it so much as an effort to save our team, but a possible turning point for the area. If the team goes, the area is as good as done; RWS will become yet another Bethlehem Steel/Buffalo Malting. Time for the suits to show us how much they really care for the area. If they move away, my quest to move back at some point will probably wilt quite a bit as that would remove a bit part of the "home" feeling for me. The Bills really do make up a very bit part of WNY's identity. It's like Miami without Ocean St, Los Angles without Hollywood, and NYC without the Statue of Liberty. Lastly, I'm not sure how much pull out-of-towners have on this one as that underscores the fact that the area is indeed *shrinking*. It wouldn't such a "small market" if the area had something monetary to offer it's residents to begin with. /rant off. -Jeff Edit.. if it does come down to it, I'll do what I can to help. As I'm not a constituent of the area I'm not sure how much help my efforts would be, unfortunately.
  24. At least we know what time the game is.
