I'm not getting into your last comment, but there is "influence" and agree with that part in the concussion protocol. Not saying Buffalo pushed himself through it, there are many factors including what a player documents that can influence the decision to. You're not understanding, if you are making blanket statements that put Elam in Sauce/Joey Porter Jr playing level. Let's see what happens when Elam is gone and with another scheme. You act like it's a simple fact of letting Elam play aggressive/be himself ---- please call Coach's hotline immediately, we have a poster who thinks he has fixed Elam
-
By neuter, you mean they taught him that he can't pull/tug/grab on the WR and hold him throughout the route. Elam just doesn't have "it", to play NFL CB. Define "it" as many things with Elam -- confidence, footwork, technique, eye discipline, etc. He's a better true athlete, but looks lost on the field more often than not for a reason (and hint hint it's not because the coaching staff neutered his brain).

Joe Brady and Aaron Kromer had a rough night
MasterStrategist replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
And this is why context matters --- Josh slid protection to his "left". He was fooled, credit to KC not showing it pre-snap/early, but that's why a free rusher came through. -
For a coaching staff that has developed far less "pure talent", coaching isn't the problem. Elam has a slew of others problems, but on the field primarily it's his "handyiness". If anything, he needed those neutered.

If it was Keon Coleman or another draft pick, making those catches, except Mack Hollins would you be upset? Not saying Mack is the answer. But not sure how anyone comes away from this game saying that's the top need right now. I'll give Coleman a chance to grow. And add another couple playmakers for sure. But how do we need to "completely steamroll" competition to win? We have missed on too many defensive investments, got snake bitten by injuries that likely won't make the player the same (ie: Von, Milano now, Tre before). Again, we're sitting here needing a "solid" corner, and either Bishop becomes a very good S, or we are searching there too. Not to mention DL. We just lack in many spots. Wide receiver sure. But then we're back with what just happened. Eventually we need talent on defense to keep KC down. Everyone wants to say coaching, but it's mainly that we are aging out premier talent there and need to replace.
-
But not sure i call it outcoached. Outplayed? Yes. We have three players that you listed in the secondary: Hamlin, Elam, Douglas. Just not what beats a Patrick Mahomes led offense. Sounds like excuses to some, and we can point blame at why those are our options, but I still don't call it coaching. Outplayed, by better talent. This is a raw take, but it's so difficult with a great group of players/coaches, just thr talent gap is missing on defense. Razor thin difference between winning and losing, I think speed is something they'll evaluate on defense, likely offense too, and realize that we do need more.

Outcoached? Benford went down and killed us. This is a slow secondary. I see a massive change in general, we started with Bishop...gonna be more speed added next offseason. Coaching kept us in a season of $30m+ in dead cap. Our defensive coaching came out and stopped KC to 11 in 2nd half. Offense under Brady, plays were there. Josh missed a few. And when Mahomes misses literally zero, there was little wiggle room for error. Josh to Samuel, Josh 1st drive. I say Josh, not blaming him. But he came out jittery hence the 1st down designed run to him to calm his nerves. He played lights out, except the Samuel miss. Cook played possessed. OL played great. Sometimes you just lose to a team that is truly that good.

Main thing from the last time we played them: We converted, either due to yardage or defensive penalty, 5 of 10 3rd and 6+. 50% is unheard of and way above our season avg, most of these being in the 3rd and 8 or 9 range. Point is we need to do a better job getting into more manageable 3rd down situations this game. We played behind the sticks against Bmore and managed too, especially that 1st drive. But I'm hoping to see us get better on early downs this game. Hopefully can get the run game and quick passing executed early and often. -
I know this is a while ago, won't help now. But in future, if you can afford it, do what the pros do. Find a mobile IV provider, they'll come to your house and hook you up/monitor you for about 45 minutes. Fluids, Vitamin C, Zinc, B vitamins, etc. Its not cheap, around 200-300 near me, but it drastically cuts down the severity and duration.

I don't know this for certain, but I think he has a hip pointer. The way he was injured, amount of pain, etc. Pain can be intense, my guess is they carted him for that reason and to rule out a fracture. Again a guess. Injecting a hip pointer with a steroid to reduce swelling/ pain mgt is definitely a possibility. We shall see, i think Coach is being honest with the day to day designation, and it's all about getting rest/therapy to see if he's good to go. If he's limited tomorrow, that'd be a good sign -
This is definitely the top post in this thread... This is the most balanced Bills offense we've seen, in a long time. What every fan of Joe Brady was hoping for coming into the year, while pessimistic fans continued to harp on our lack of WR talent. We can beat every scheme, its all about execution as you said. Joe Brady should be OC of the year, but I don't expect he'll get it. 1 offseason and he's fixed a lot of fundamental issues that were holding us back, just a bit (redzone, turnovers is amazing, etc), and set team records in the process.

9 blue chip players to win a SuperBowl
MasterStrategist replied to pennstate10's topic in The Stadium Wall
Without listening to what the Coach said in context, I'd disagree about needing 9 blue chip players. The entire concept of need X number of blue chip players, is just wrong IMO. You can win in many ways. Football is the ultimate team sport, unlike basketball where 1 blue chip player changes everything. It's more difficult to win a SB without having an elite or borderline elite player. But we've seen it done, if you have a dominant defense/supporting cast. To me, it starts with QB then OL and DL. Usually if you have those components figured out, you're going to be difficult to beat. We don't have the top DL, but we make up for it in our "middle" (Taron, Bernard, Milano) and having a stud corner in Benford. One of these days, if we actually land a "blur chip DE", or can get better consistent pass rush collectively, that will level the field with KC. Until then, we need Ed Von Groot etc to play their best, and generate turnovers. -

People overreacting over the injuries. I agree with your take above. Rapp is the only one. Milano and Taron are dealing with soreness, Benford will clear. Maybe Milano/Taron will be less than 100%, everyone is this time of year though. Chris Jones is still dealing with his calf, he might be practicing, but he's not 100% over that injury yet. I have faith in Bishop, if he indeed starts. He has the physical talent and had alot of reps down the stretch...and a great player/coach in Hyde to help him. This isn't last year, when we were rolling with Aj Klein and a mash group. Or 2022 when our dline and secondary were hobbled, or 2021 when Tre was out. We're about as healthy as you can hope for this time of year. -

They have access to readily available recovery care/IVs of vitamin C electrolytes etc. They'll be fine, alot of time between now and Sunday for "preventative care". Bills have a top tier training staff and facility, im sure they're prepared. -

Agree, front 4 needs to play their A-game. Simulated pressures, to help get some of our guys into 1-1s, or mixing in some zone blitzes/forcing Mahomes a direction in pocket with a spy, is what I expect. McD has seemed to of found something with our 3-2-6 looks on 3rd down and obvious pass. -
Christian Benford in concussion protocol
MasterStrategist replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again I'm not attacking you. My point is that I don't believe 1 extra day of rest is that much of a benefit, minimal IMO. More impactful if Buffalo has to deviate from their normal schedule, 7 days, which they don't. Is it unfair to Philly that they're the 2 seed vs the 6 seed Commanders, and Washington has 1 extra day of rest? Too many people making it a big deal IMO.
