Kapernick wasn't even the only guy on his team to kneel. It partially blew up because he sat on the bench during the anthem which was felt to be very disrespectful and not a protest. Then he reached out to some military vets who advised him kneeling in protest was more respectful than sitting on the bench.

Interesting Drew Bledsoe career recap
Ethan in Cleveland replied to ProcessAccepted's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People forget there is no SB win by Brady against the Rams without a come from behind come off the bench victory by Bledsoe on the road at Pittsburgh His coach was Greg Williams. Bledsoe was right he did know more than Greggo did. -
I wouldn't do it. My feelings on preseason are well documented. Makes no sense to risk injury in a meaningless game. They already know 48 or the 53 and honestly guy 49 to 59 are all interchangeable anyway. College plays no preseason games and the product on the field is fine from day one. Yes lots of college teams play patsies week 1 but many do not. These guys are professionals playing in the same offense and defense for the last three years. No need to play anyone but the scrubs.

The Final 53 and other musings
Ethan in Cleveland replied to gdabillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good job With Phillips injury he goes to IR for sure which allows Zimmer to stay on the roster. Obada should make it over Johnson though I am not certain McD will see it that way. Where does the legend of Tommy Sweeney come from? He can't block and he has no speed. I would prefer they go with Knox, Hollister, Gilliam, and and keep an extra OT. Doyle is just going to be cut - he is terrible I'm not sure Breida or Jones should make this roster. I don't think either are any good. That said I would keep Breida and let Jones go. Letting Jones go let's them keep 7 WR with Stevenson the 7th guy. I don't have a good feel for who the back-up safeties will be. As for ST's the only guy I would keep is Matakevich. For the other core guys, there is a better player on the roster worth keeping. Obada is better than Johnson, Brieda and Williams are both better than Jones, and I would rather keep Kumerow and Stevenson. Kumerow, Breida, Stevenson, Sweeney, and a new DB or LB can be the core ST's guys. -
Harrison Phillips knee injury
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's time to move on from Phillips. He is not big enough to play the1 tech and not athletic enough to play the #3. Next yest the first two picks need to be C and NT. -
We are in win now mode. Give Beane credit for upgrading the back-up QB position. Now jettison Fromm and take advantage of the open roster spot. And let's all hope he gets 25 snaps all year in blowouts. Bes case scenario is someone signs him to a contract next year and they get a comp pick out of it.

Doyle should injure himself because there is no way he makes the final 53. That's the only way he makes the team.

I've been beating the pass rush drum for years. They went with old slow veterans last year and it didn't work. Now they are going with a nice mix of experience and youth. People easily forget Addison led the DL with 5 sacks though it was Hughes that got more consistent pressure. Youth will cost them some missed containment yards or some screens given up due to the inexperience. But they will make up for it with more speed on the filed and a few strip sacks during the year.

PostGame Thread Bills @ Bears

No way they should carry 3 QBs this year. Use that spot for an extra linemen. -
Ouch.....thats gonna leave a mark

Wait until Allen gets hit like that and we will see this board go nuts -
Tell Me About Average Bills Fans
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if the average fan is more or less likely to live in WNY anymore? I moved away in 1988. I see more road games in person than I do home games. -
I voted no not because I think the offense can't do it but because the defense is too good. High scoring games often are because both teams are scoring. Our defense is good enough to hold the opponents in check. That means a lot of fourth quarter leads, running the ball killing the clock late in the game, and playing the backups.

I’ve posted many times Allen was my #1 but Rosen was my #2. If you look at 2018 stats both were very similar. Completion percentage 52, a little over 2000 yards and both with more interceptions than TDs. One stays put and gets better the other becomes a vagabond. Had Denver taken Allen I have no doubt Beane would have taken Rosen.

Just as Frazier did when speaking about Darryl Johnson who has little chance to make the final 53

Bobby Wagner Beane addressed the DL with a nice mix of youth and experience. And while the added pass rush of a Chase Young or TJ Watt would be great, the weak link on the defense is Edmunds even more so than CB#2. You can game plan to give extra help for a CB. You can't gameplan to fix a MLB that takes bad angles to the ball carrier and makes few plays in pass coverage. Wagner's experience and expert play would transform this defense. Maybe that will happen with Edmunds this year.

What does it say about the coach that drafted them and started them? Glass houses...

They don't need depth at DE. They have it now with the three draft picks the last two years and Obada. Johnson can't play DT like Basham probably will on some downs. The LB depth is much better this year and they can find a LB or WR to take his spot on special teams. Johnson is gone for sure. Frazier might be talking him up to see if Beane can trade him for a late round pick. Johnson has 2 sacks in two seasons. Obada had 5.5 last year alone.
