Reading the tea leaves. (Mostly Oline related)
Allen2Moulds replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a copy of Beanes quote below. Read it however you want to, but it seems clear enough to me that this is a top positional need. He didn't defend it like he did with the RBs. There was no excuse for scheme or anything else. (Beane's quote regarding TE production) "It was never where the opposing defense was like, ‘Man we’ve really got to stop their tight ends from going off,' " Beane said -

Thanks Gunner, what you're saying makes sense, and matches what I saw. It just doesn't seem like Beane thinks the problem is with the backs. I mean, he was responsible for drafting both of them, so there could be a little bias there, although he doesn't have a record of doing that. Which back do you like in the draft? And who would be your ideal starting 5? -

I'm hoping that this year was more of an anomaly for him due to injuries, and the dumpster fire that became the Eagles. If he's anything even close to what he was 2 or 3 years ago, than by all means go after him. He would look great in a Bills uniform. -
I'm just a regular fan and far from an expert, but here are my 2 cents, judging by what Brandon Beane said on WGR the other day, along with another guest analyst earlier today. They both mentioned that the running game woes werd more oline and scheme related, than RB related. Which means, don't expect pick 30 to be a RB, prob not until day 3 if any are even added. Our main focus will be 2 find a way to take the next step with the oline. Improve our run blocking without sacrificing too much in pass pro. Beane also mentioned that we practically got nothing out of our TE position. Also expect us to do all we can to improve our TE room. Until the AFC Championship game, our oline had a phenomenal year protecting Josh Allen. But.......we have a finesse line that couldn't create running lanes even against light boxes. That likely will be a major focus this off-season. Expect us to roll out a more physical group up the middle. This doesn't mean that we will suddenly become a running team, we just have to be able to keep teams honest and make them pay when they don't. Teams dared us too run in the playoffs and we failed miserably. This doesn't bode well for Morse, who not only doesn't fit the bill, but also has a large contract and is a concusion risk. I think they will resign Feliciano with the intention to move him to Center permanently. Love him or hate him, Cody Ford is likely still part of the plan at one of the guard spots. He still has a lot of refining to do, and will likely cost us a few pass pro reps, but the hope is that he gives us more of a boost in the running game, and he's cheap. I also think they resign Daryl Williams. He's relatively young and had an outstanding year at RT. That still leaves 1 of the guard spots up for grabs. Projected starting 5 Dion/Boetger or Rook/Feliciano/Ford/Williams As for TE, expect them to make 1 big splash via FA or trade to bring in a playmaking TE. TE's rarely make impacts as rookies, and I think we're ready to compete now.

Josh Norman investment in Buffalo
Allen2Moulds replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you Yolo, but he needs to be in on Hail Mary Plays. He's still the biggest and most Physical DB we have, and that seems to be the problem. -
Hear me out: We could very well win out
Allen2Moulds replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that we can run tbe table, but more likely go 4-2 or 5-1, if we stay healthy down the stretch. Here's how I rank our opponents, measured by concern. 1. NE (mauling oline, best secoundary we will face and of course BB). Regardless of record, worst matchup. 2. Pitt (Elite pass rushers, HOF QB) 3. Mia (humming right now on D, Brian Flores looks like the real deal.) 4. SF (elite running team, but too many injuries. Their Running game is more scheme based, and based on athletic lineman more so than the big maulers. I think we have more trouble with the maulers. 5.Chargers (Herbert) 6. Broncos (no concerns) -
Biggest reason we lost today.
Allen2Moulds replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the end that was true, but must of the game they gashed us on early downs, and rarely was it 3rd and long. -
People need to check themselves
Allen2Moulds replied to Watkins90's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for summing it up. It's exactly it. I think we underestimated the emotional charge that Shaq and Phillips added to our D. Except Norman who's far from the ball, we have a bunch of quiet nice guys on D. -
Biggest reason we lost today.
Allen2Moulds replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think he's Trubisky, but I am certainly concerned. The Tenn game was more about the def, Josh had a bad pass at the end, but overall had an at least solid game. Today was horrendous, and he looked like the scared guy from the 1st half of 2019. He's young and hopefully grows from this, but Frazier and McDermott are running out of excuses. Also questioning Beane. Besides Allen, who we are now a little concerned about, what impact player has he drafted? I was watching SF last night and they are loaded with young talent on both sides of the ball. I don't see that on the Bills. Most of the key pieces were FA signings. The entire offense except for Allen. Tre Day and Milano were drafted before Beane got here. Poyer and Hyde were FA signings. Where. Is Hyde by the way, he's been invisible thus far. -
I went into todays game with the expectation that we would lose, but how we lost is what bothers me most. I know that they rushed for over 200yds, and we can easily point to that, but the reason we lost is because we played scared. The champs were in town, and you can see how tight they were, and it started from the top down. Already down multiple scores they had plenty of time to run a play, and they let the 3rd quarter expire. That showed me all I needed to know about they're mentality going in. That trickled all the way down, starting with Josh Allen. This was 2018 Josh Allen. He was off all night, not even close on most of his incompletions. Obviously I blame coaching 1st. They played coverage all night which is what you have to do against Mahommes, and its probably the only smart thing they did today. But once again, they could not execute outside contain. It killed them both in the run, and with Mahommes extending plays outside the pocket. We had those same issues against Tannehill last week. Beyond frustrated. I think what's even more amazing about that, is that they equally gashed us up the middle. Again, its a timid, scared style of football that lost us the game. We only showed some bite, when it was too late. Where was that aggression the first 52 min of the game. Even still, we couldn't stop them due to stupid mental collapses. 2 personal fouls, and poor zone coverage multiple times on that last drive. It led to 2 key 3rd down conversions, game over. Now that we played the best, I hope they never played that scared again. Thanks for letting me vent, it does help.

I know a lot of people are complaining about our pass rush, but I believe our back 7 isn't holding up long enough to get there. I'd like to see Norman back into his #2 role before trashing him. Also thought Cam Lewis made some plays. Biggest hole to fill next year, is a nice young long athletic corner to play alongside Tre. I also want to see more of Epenesa, he had a great play for a loss yesterday. I know he also had a bad Offside foul, but I'm sure he'll clean that up.
-
I went back and took a 2nd look at that play and have to say that your right. It looks like it was Tremaine's job to be where he was, which left another player with a clean shot in the hole at Henry. He was unblocked and went into Tremaines hole, which created a big hole for Henry. I think it was Klein, but couldn't tell. Makes me feel better, but the run fits as a hole, are a serious problem right now.

As much as I like Edmunds, he is playing replacement level football. Rarely does he make a play, which is rare when your a MLB. Amd routinely misses things. On Henry's first TD last night, he was in position on 2nd and goal to blow the play up for a big loss, but was turned sideways with his back to Henry. He was completely lost, hard to even understand what he was doing. If he's the QB of the defense, we better be looking for a new one next year. I believed the he is young excuse for awhile, but time has run out on that. This is year 3, and he's making year one mistakes. He routinely picks the wrong hole. He has terrible instincts, at a position that they're needed most and I don't know how you improve that.

3rd and 19.......Haven't learned yet!
Allen2Moulds replied to Houston's #1 Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that the middle of the field was way to open. Where was Edmunds? Where were both of our safeties? But what bothered me most about that play is that the receiver caught it about 5 yds from the line of scrimmage and Taron Johnson was already trailing by 2 yds. Wouldnt you want to play off in that situation and keep him in front of you? That's both coaching and Taron Johnson has no business being out there. Teams figured it out and are specifically targeting him wherever he is. I saw enough from Cam Lewis to give him a shot there. He seemed to be flying around and made a couple nice tackles. -

Milano and Edmunds OUT against Miami
Allen2Moulds replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It sucks to have them both out, but we know McD likes to play it safe with injuries. I commend his conservative approach. We'll still handle the Phins this week, and hopefully they'll be ready for the Rams. -
My wife and brother inlaw are both Penn State Alumns, and over the last 5-6 years, I've watched a lot of Penn State Football. The number one guy that stuck out the most was obviously Barkley. After that it was Robinson and then Godwin a few years ago. I was hoping for Godwin when we went with Zay. Even on a porous penn state D, Matos has always stood out. Even as a freshman...I would always ask, who's 99, because he was the only one making plays. He's still a young kid but has the most upside of the guys that are left. He has prototypical size, super athletic, and has been productive. For anyone that knocks him, I don't know what else you would want from a second rounder. But it won't matter because he'll be gone within the 1st couple of picks today.

Jordan Palmer's QB work story
Allen2Moulds replied to Seasons1992's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for sharing. the thing that caught my attention the most, was that Aiyuk, Higgins, and Pittman are there with the QBs. Maybe Josh falls in love throwing to one of them and says....Brandon we have to try and get this guy. -

AMEN! i will say that now when people hear that I'm a Bills fan, they react a lot different than in years past. In years past, the first words out of my mouth were....yeah I know my team sucks....yadayadayada. Now even Pats fans are starting to show respect.
