I hear where you were coming from, and Beane may agree with you, but CB is a premium position that always goes a little earlier than expected. I know we went with Rosseau last year, who I was happy with, but Beane mentioned that they had their eyes on a couple of corners, but they all went before they're pick. It comes down to how they have these guys graded, and how big the gaps are between tiers. The one thing that we have sorely missed in the secondary, is both speed and length. I don't think we wait around this year, it may not be as high as 7 or 5 with NYG, but I don't think they'll settle for whoever drops.

I don't know if it was this week's mmqb by Peter King, but it was definitely something Peter King wrote, about the 4 teams most likely to trade with NYG, and Buffalo was number 1. It also could of been when he was a guest on the Herd, sorry I don't remember the specifics, but this got me thinking, that we might already have the framework of a trade to move up with NYG, to get the top corner of the draft (Sauce Gardner). I know it would cost us 25# this year, 32 next year, and maybe even a mid round pick somewhere, but this would be the time to do it.

Long corner with speed in the 1st Round, Guard or Center in the 2nd, WR in the 3rd.

Chandler Jones signing with Raiders - 3 years, $52.5 mill
Allen2Moulds replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, you're right and are being more sensible and less emotional than I am. However, I still believe we could of signed Jones, without blowing up the plan. 3 year deals are ideal for this, exactly the length that Beane typically strives for. It just made too much sense, but who knows, maybe we matched, and he took Vegas anyways. Can't pretend to know a players motivation. -

I'm usually not negative, I love my Bills, but I had to get this off my chest. We've done really well in some areas of this team, but have really whiffed on the DLine. In back to back years we invested a 2nd round pick on a guy, only for that guy to be mostly inactive. We've also blown a decent amount of money, as others point out, on some mediocre talent at best. We've spent about 10M on guys like Addison, and wasted about 7M more on guys like Butler and Murphy. Im not even talking about the initial contracts either. In both cases, these guys would be inactive the year before, and we would assume they we're obvious cut candidates, only to be brought back for another year. If you do the math, it's Chandler Jones money that we've wasted. We should of had money rolling over, not be in over the cap. Josh's figures haven't even kicked in yet. That concerns me. At the end of the season, I blamed McDermott, but now I'm beginning to think more and more, that it's the lack of talent on Defense. Hyde, Poyer, and Tre we're all signed/drafted before Beane came on. He hit a grand slam with Allen, no doubt there, but he needs to start connecting a bit more in the trenches. Epenesa, Basham, and Ford were all 2nd round picks, and the return investment there, is really concerning. Maybe Beane hands the keys to someone else, at least in the 2nd round. Josh Allen has made up for some of this team's deficiencies, but we need to improve a bit more around him. Mainly in the trenches. -
Couldn't agree more. Hard pressed to find another LB as good as Bobby Wagner. Legion of Boom, gets all the press, but he was the best player on that defense. He's what we were hoping Tremaine would become, unfortunately never happened.

This is a really fun topic and almost certainly needs to be divided. Rodgers is no doubt a top 5 talent, and a top 3 performer in the regular season. The year he won the Superbowl, he played some of the best football I've ever seen in the playoffs. However, that was before he was a known diva. Over the last however many years, je just hasn't been as special. I also tend to put more stock into playoff football. Tony Romo was a great reg season QB, Eli was just the opposite. I would've taken Eli, and would trust him over Rodgers in the playoffs. I almost think that Rodgers is very aware of his placement, and likely cares about his stats/rating. Maybe one of the reasons his pick totals are so low, is that he sometimes plays it safe, instead of pushing the envelope like a Josh, or Mahomes will do. I also have only been watching football for about 30 years, and I would have to say. Brady Montana Manning Young Kurt Warner

I think we all see now exactly where the breakdown was, if we didn't already know. -
Beach chairs are back! (Kromer hired as OL Coach)
Allen2Moulds replied to MWK's topic in The Stadium Wall
The one thing that sticks out to me, is that our oline struggled immensely for the first 6 games when he was suspended. It was a totally different line when he got back. Players also spoke very highly of him, primarily with how technical he was. Rams also had arguably the worst line before he got there, and he turned that unit around instantly. I'm even more pumped about this hire, than the Brady one. A++ coaching hires. -
I agree...100%. Touchback was a head scratcher

Dawson? Sorry man, but I Def didn't see it that way Early in the game on a 3rd and like 14, Josh threw a laser right into his numbers The 1st drop on the 1st drive, hit him in stride, both hands. Not to mention a costly redzone penalty. He did make a couple decent short grabs, but the misses outweighed it.

My top 5 keys to winning on SNF
Allen2Moulds replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agreed with all of this. -
(Just my 2 cents as a fan, not an expert by any means.) 1. Do a better job against Chris Jones, and the interior pass rush. Chris Jones absolutely harrased Josh last year.. Josh was never comfortable in either game. I know they have him at DE this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them kick him back inside for this game. Fingers crossed that Darryl Williams holds up at G. Very confident in rookie Spencer Brown, and relieved to see Cody Ford on the bench. 2. Be and stay aggressive on offense. We played very timid on offense in the AFCCG last year,, it was almost like we were watching a different team. Unless it's the end of half, we need to go for it. No 27yd fgs. Same applies for 4th and short. Josh is unstoppable on QB sneaks, don't get too cute on offense and outsmart yourself in those situations. Field position game means nothing against Mahomes. We'll need to score at least 30 to win, maybe even closer to 40. 3. Daboll has to call one of his better games. Besides opening drives, I've been disappointed in Daboll, and how he has called our playoff games and against KC last year. As terrible as KC has been on D this year, Spagnuola is still a top notch DC and is great at divising game plans and confusing QBs. Remember he's the same DC that shutdown the 18-0 (correction) 18-1 Patriots. Best version of Brady and Moss in there Prime. 4. Moving on to defense. I'll start with the obvious. We have to find a way to pressure Mahomes. I know Mahomes kills the blitz, but we'll have to try and disguise who we send. Only send 4...ok, but which 4. Occasionally send 5, but pick your spots wisely. I know that Groot has dropped back in coverage a few times for example. Also need dline to use their length to get their hands on a ball or 2. Maybe on a key 3rd/4th down. 5. We won't be able to Stop Hill and Kelce, so we kind of have to pick our poison there. I'd say don't let Hill kill you over the top, and live with what Kelce does to you. Bend but don't break, maybe we can force them into a couple of FGs. That's part of what Tampa did in the SB. In the 1st match-up, Hill tourched Tampa, and it was over by halftime. In the SB rematch, they limited Hill, and allowed a bunch of underneath catches to Kelce that didn't hurt them nearly as bad. Of course they also chased him up and down Dale Mabry (main rd behind stadium). Would love to hear anyone else's opinion.

Devin Singletary got swoll
Allen2Moulds replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to disagree here. Rbs adding muscle mass, rarely works out for the better. Your frame has to be able to support it, without losing any speed or quickness. Devin should be more focused on speed and quickness, than power. -
Bills players you disliked

Great list. Dareus was great until he got paid. Than he became fat and lazy. I hate McGahee the most for talking *hit about the City, even after us taking a huge gamble on him. Showed the exact kind of person that he is. -
Hey man, not saying your wrong. But your argument says the opposite. Look at that list of SB winners. Brady a bunch of times, Mahomes, Manning, Wilson. Yes you have Flacco and Foles on the list, but those are your 2 exceptions. If you add up all the SB titles to HOF qbs, I bet you'll get more yellow jackets than not.

Reading the tea leaves. (Mostly Oline related)
Allen2Moulds replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a copy of Beanes quote below. Read it however you want to, but it seems clear enough to me that this is a top positional need. He didn't defend it like he did with the RBs. There was no excuse for scheme or anything else. (Beane's quote regarding TE production) "It was never where the opposing defense was like, ‘Man we’ve really got to stop their tight ends from going off,' " Beane said -

Thanks Gunner, what you're saying makes sense, and matches what I saw. It just doesn't seem like Beane thinks the problem is with the backs. I mean, he was responsible for drafting both of them, so there could be a little bias there, although he doesn't have a record of doing that. Which back do you like in the draft? And who would be your ideal starting 5? -

I'm hoping that this year was more of an anomaly for him due to injuries, and the dumpster fire that became the Eagles. If he's anything even close to what he was 2 or 3 years ago, than by all means go after him. He would look great in a Bills uniform. -
I'm just a regular fan and far from an expert, but here are my 2 cents, judging by what Brandon Beane said on WGR the other day, along with another guest analyst earlier today. They both mentioned that the running game woes werd more oline and scheme related, than RB related. Which means, don't expect pick 30 to be a RB, prob not until day 3 if any are even added. Our main focus will be 2 find a way to take the next step with the oline. Improve our run blocking without sacrificing too much in pass pro. Beane also mentioned that we practically got nothing out of our TE position. Also expect us to do all we can to improve our TE room. Until the AFC Championship game, our oline had a phenomenal year protecting Josh Allen. But.......we have a finesse line that couldn't create running lanes even against light boxes. That likely will be a major focus this off-season. Expect us to roll out a more physical group up the middle. This doesn't mean that we will suddenly become a running team, we just have to be able to keep teams honest and make them pay when they don't. Teams dared us too run in the playoffs and we failed miserably. This doesn't bode well for Morse, who not only doesn't fit the bill, but also has a large contract and is a concusion risk. I think they will resign Feliciano with the intention to move him to Center permanently. Love him or hate him, Cody Ford is likely still part of the plan at one of the guard spots. He still has a lot of refining to do, and will likely cost us a few pass pro reps, but the hope is that he gives us more of a boost in the running game, and he's cheap. I also think they resign Daryl Williams. He's relatively young and had an outstanding year at RT. That still leaves 1 of the guard spots up for grabs. Projected starting 5 Dion/Boetger or Rook/Feliciano/Ford/Williams As for TE, expect them to make 1 big splash via FA or trade to bring in a playmaking TE. TE's rarely make impacts as rookies, and I think we're ready to compete now.

Josh Norman investment in Buffalo

I agree with you Yolo, but he needs to be in on Hail Mary Plays. He's still the biggest and most Physical DB we have, and that seems to be the problem. -
Hear me out: We could very well win out
Allen2Moulds replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that we can run tbe table, but more likely go 4-2 or 5-1, if we stay healthy down the stretch. Here's how I rank our opponents, measured by concern. 1. NE (mauling oline, best secoundary we will face and of course BB). Regardless of record, worst matchup. 2. Pitt (Elite pass rushers, HOF QB) 3. Mia (humming right now on D, Brian Flores looks like the real deal.) 4. SF (elite running team, but too many injuries. Their Running game is more scheme based, and based on athletic lineman more so than the big maulers. I think we have more trouble with the maulers. 5.Chargers (Herbert) 6. Broncos (no concerns)
