  1. You're changing the argument from whether a wall would be effective to a critique of President Trump's rhetoric. The point is that if you're trying to prevent migration across the southern border, with all other things being equal, it would be easier to accomplish that with a physical barrier than without one. I don't really think there's a reasonable argument to the contrary.
  2. You never know. 2 years into the Bush presidency he looked unbeatable. Then he barely squeaked out a victory against what was then (and arguably still is) the worst Presidential ticket in the modern era. A large segment of neo-cons who had warmed to him are turning against him again, and if the wall doesn't get built a lot of the hardcore MAGA crowd sours on him. Plus, the Dems could run someone like Kamala Harris to turn out the black & virtue-signaler vote, and the "get out the vote" peer pressure is turning out a lot of apolitical people who vote & vote Dem to avoid the wrath of their aggressively liberal friends. I hope he wins, but even if not he's accomplished what I wanted, which was a rebuild of the Republican party. And he exposed the Dems, leftist media, & SJWs for what they are. They can't put the mask back on.
  3. 9-7 may not be what fans are hoping for, but it would be a huge success for a young team in the midst of a rebuild who will likely have several rookies and 2nd year players playing significant roles.
  4. All the Senate Dems have to do is allow a vote on the bill the House already passed. They're forcing a shutdown solely for the purpose of preventing a political victory for Donald Trump. There is absolutely nothing principled about what they're doing.
  5. Not only that, Steve Jobs was the driving force behind Apple. Once he kicked Apple's decline was inevitable. Apple without Steve Jobs is like the Patriots without Bellichick.
  6. The political stunt is shutting down the government to block an expenditure that accounts for roughly 0.1% of the Federal budget.
  7. Neither did the French army. By your logic armies don't work and there's no reason to have one.
  8. Isn't it self-evident that a border is easier to secure when there is a barrier?
  9. His record over the last 7 months? Is Creepy Porn Lawyer trolling himself?
  10. This is a move you make if you're in win now mode, your window is closing, and you want to make a run. When you're going into year 3 of a rebuild it makes more sense to use those resources to build for the future to have sustained success rather than compromise that for someone who isn't likely to be much of a factor in 3-4 years. Not to mention the risk that he bounces when his contract is up.
  11. We're making a record of President Trump's worst acts in office. Your participation is appreciated.
  12. They could send a message to any other potential malcontents by shipping him to Buffalo.
  13. So far we've got tariffs, the farm bill, and something about Russia, and getting us out of the Iran deal. Not exactly the nightmare I'm told we're living through. Is that it? Surely there must be more? (Please, no Airplane lines).
  14. So far this thread has gone close to what I expected. I did think some of the resident leftists would at least try to chime in, but I didn't expect much substance. Looks like they have even less than I gave them credit for.
  15. That's the idea. I do not intend to argue, but rather to listen.
  16. With a sizeable portion of the public and media in a seemingly constant state of panic, it seems appropriate that we catalog the misdeeds and missteps of the Trump administration so we can evaluate it on the merits. The purpose of this thread is not to argue whether the administration or its actions are positive or negative, but rather to catalog the negative. Your participation is appreciated.
  17. Rosen's garbage. It wouldn't surprise me if he's out of the league in 5 years.
  18. For as long as I can remember (which is about 20 years +/-) we've lived in "critical times." Every election is the most important election of our lifetimes, until the next one, as if the difference between Bush/Kerry or McCain/Obama is the difference between glory and ruin. At the moment, there are fewer serious & eminent concerns facing us than at possibly any time in our history. Whoever is President may be less important now than ever. But many many people are miserable and feel like they're living through a nightmare because they're upset about who the President is. Not so much for what he's doing, but who he is. We're both viewers of and participants in a bizarre cultural soap opera where the viewing public is thrown to passions over relatively trivial matters. Stories about visiting a war memorial or signing memorabilia for soldiers has led the national news in recent weeks. The issues don't really matter all that much, the drama does. We're now at a point where Republicans are pushing for trade tariffs and Democrats are pushing for war in the middle east to protect oil markets. Exactly opposite of where they stood during the 2004 election when those were the key issues upon which the fate of the world hinged. There is no objective reasoning at the heart of any of this. It's all based on learned moralism. The state of the culture is far more concerning at this point than who is the President. That will be far more consequential in the long run.
  19. Who the f#ck is this guy? His troll game is weak as fuuuck, which is especially sad when you consider the lack of substance or humor in his posts.
  20. Almost never. Occasionally the wife & kids will drag me to the theater, but no more than once or twice a year, if that.
  21. I've always suspected you of being a Mongol sympathizer. Now we see your true colors.
