I think we moved down last year with the plan of moving up this year. The only issue I’m having is next year is supposed to be a better crop of talent so the strategy may fail. We’ll see, I’m sure whatever they do will be enough to sell tickets.

So you think that a player unknowingly took a banned substance once and got a six game ban? That really doesn’t pass the smell test. I don’t really care what players take, my argument is: what’s banned is not as confusing as caught players try to make it. They say these things publicly because it helps them save face. I get it, I just don’t buy it. they used banned substances, they got caught. That’s it. I’m not judging them or even care. The nonsense “I had no idea” line is all I’m commenting on.

I’ve heard this line before. I could be naive but I’m having a hard time believing it’s this nebulous. It sounds more like a plausible deniability angle a junky might take. It’s more likely that the testing found the presence of a masking agent rather than an actual substance and rather than get into a drawn out process both sides just say minimal things. Not to mention a 6 game ban means this is not the first or second time for either of these players.

He’s probably getting hit with a dose of reality this offseason. He’s been overpaid most of his career, for one reason or another, and teams are no longer going to give him top dollar. he’s probably going to get 10-15 million per for 1-2 years somewhere.
