  1. Looks like a divide and conquer mindset here. If there was ever a way to magnify NY City and Albany's control over a state it would be divide it into the littlest bits possible. I mean how dumb is it to refer to the Rochester metro area, which gets within what 30 miles of the CANADIAN border, as the "Finger Lakes" and not Western NY? I like to keep things simple and split the State right down the middle (north to south) and if you do that Syracuse is on the Eastern border of Western NY and Rochester is the center of WNY. If you split the State three ways - West, Central & East - Syracuse falls out of WNY but Rochester is clearly still in the middle of WNY. As an aside, I've always thought the larger geographical definition of WNY should break away from NY State and form it's own state. The money coming in off oil/Natural Gas exploitation alone would dwarf whatever funds from Albany you would lose. Heck it's sort of happening in Oregon right now.
  2. I agree with you on the Garbage Plate but your geography needs a little work. Even a casual glance at a NY State map would show that Rochester is a part of "Western NY". I would also include Syracuse as the Eastern border of Western NY.
  3. So your advice would be to low ball Allen? Or franchise his butt like the Cowboys did? The contract you're reacting to would almost certainly be extended and reworked in the 4th & 5th years as Allen ages like a fine wine and the Bills are yearly Super Bowl contenders. I guess we can always trade Allen for a boatload of draft picks and hope we land another elite QB we can have on a rookie contract. I don't get folks worried about what Allen's contract might do to the Bills future competitiveness after enduring n 18 year playoff drought while we desperately looked for the right guy at QB? Now that was what a crippled small market team looks like.
  4. Millions of dollars and a one dollar ownership lease on Niagara Falls for 99 years.
  5. I love that Montoya put out a thread like this because it gives us something to argue about. And May is boring from an NFL standpoint. But that being said IMO the ranking in the AFC is Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, Browns/Colts. Buffalo had two quality playoff wins against the Colts & Ravens before running out of steam against the Chiefs. The Browns, who lost to the Ravens twice last season, got past Pitt in the playoffs with what could only be described as the Steelers playing one of the worst quarters of playoff football in NFL history. The Chiefs were clearly looking past the Browns and had Mahomes stayed in that game they would have won it by 17 plus points. Buffalo added a couple of guys who I think will show up big time next season (Hollister, Sanders & Breida) and the Bills have a number of young players entering their 2nd - 4th years who stand to improve (Allen, Davis, Singleterry, Moss, Knox, Edmunds, Oliver, Espinoza to name a few). This is a team that won 13 regular season games and 2 playoff games. They clearly are the #2 AFC seed going into next season.
  6. Agree 100%. In two of the three playoff games our D line didn't put any pressure on the opponents QB. And this was against highly effective QB's in Rivers & Mahomes. The only reason we escaped with a win against Indy was that Allen took the team on his shoulders and had a phenomenal game. He couldn't replicate that against KC minus the Bills best RB and a beat-up WR group. As for the Baltimore win, pass rush doesn't really matter against Jackson & company. In fact a D-line that doesn't get much penetration is probably a good strategy against the Ravens. The bottom line is that pass rush was by far the Bills biggest weakness. RB & TE were not great just average, but our offense still scored over 30 points per game. And adding Hollister and Breida did upgrade both positions. It's also not unreasonable to expect Knox to improve this year particularly after he played a lot better at the end of the season and in the playoffs. Ditto for Moss who was decent.
  7. They pegged that as a 4.85 on he Richter Scale at the US earthquake center.
  8. Also the espn guys are saying he's likley to play inside and not be an edge rusher in the NFL.
  9. Do we know that this is true though? Oliver was solid last season and a lot of folks are saying he could take the next step and be a dominating D-lineman next season. Espenesa was playing a lot better at the end of this last season. He was on the field more and I noticed that he was around the QB a lot. We could see a big jump in this guy next season. Rousseau looks like your classic high upside risk at a position of need. This is exactly what you draft when you're picking at #30.
  10. Think about this. If Mac Jones beats out Newton, which I think is likely, then Josh Allen will be the old man QB in the AFC East!
  11. After watching college football defenses the last couple of years this isn't surprising to me.
  12. I like this pick for the Bengals. They can get a solid offensive lineman early in the 2nd round. Burrow to Chase is going to be a nightmare for defenses.
  13. If Chase is gone I figure the Bengals would take Sewel based on everything they're saying down here in Cincinnati. Those in the know claim Mikey Brown won't ever take a TE this high. But if he falls asleep (a very real possibility) on Thursday before the pick Katy Brown may step in and grab Pitts if he's available. I like taking Ettiene. The explosive nature of this guy compliments the Bills offense well. Moss would be the "power" back and Travis the big play guy.
  14. As someone who has watched Fields play a lot the one thing he's missing compared to Jackson is that he takes some huge hits. It's freaky how rarely Jackson ever takes a decent hit. I seriously doubt Fields would last a season running the Ravens offense.
  15. Why wait. He probably still is the best RB in the AFC East.
  16. I was at the Cincinnati Bengals game. It was a beautiful day and the place was crawling with Bills fans. The parking lot tailgate was cool as Bills & Bengals fans mixed and had fun. One of my friends from North Buffalo came down to watch the game and while we tailgated he went up to other tailgating Bills fans to ask them where in Buffalo they came from. He was amazed at the answers he got - Cincinnati, Louisville, Indianapolis, Columbus, Dayton, Memphis, Atlanta, Knoxville, etc. It really showed the national following the Bills enjoy since the great diaspora from Western NY in the late 20th century. As for the game what a huge disappointment. After racing out to a 17 - 3 halftime lead just one week after beating NE to go 3 - 0 the Bills blew the game. That was the game where rookie AJ Green was an absolute beast.
  17. No big deal. Didn't Julius Caesar have epilepsy? And he did alright conquering France, invading Britain and then bedding Cleopatra. As long as fields avoids Senators with knives he'll be fine.
  18. Assuming Arizona would have fired their coach and hired Kingsbury (KB) no matter who was their QB in 2018 I believe KB would have seen Allen's mobility as a huge plus in his offense. He also would have loved Allen's arm talent and size. And I suspect he would have felt he could correct any accuracy issues. Murray running the ball is a big part of the KB offense. Allen demonstrated beyond a doubt in 2018 that he was an elite running QB. KB would have been thrilled to have Allen behind center. So if Arizona had Allen, KB would have stuck with him and traded out of the first pick gaining a whole lot of draft capital to upgrade the offensive talent.
  19. Which is exactly what Allen did his rookie year. Allen stepped into an offense every bit as bad and maybe even worse then the offense Rosen stepped into. On top of that Allen's training camp and preseason were not handled well as he took very few first team reps. Yet in spite of this you can fill a 20 minute highlight video of amazing plays Allen made as a rookie. Sure you can match that with a video showing his bone head plays and hero ball. But under the circumstances it was the highlights that mattered and a lot of us knew we had the right guy after that rookie season.
  20. My guess is the ones they didn't show involved fans dropping throw away passes into the stands. As I said earlier, this stat however poorly measured, is likely a sign that Allen is an elite QB. What distinguishes exceptional NFL QB's from great college QB's is putting the ball in very tight places. They look like they could be picked off but they seldom are. And a lot of them are completed resulting in highlight reel plays.
  21. Allen's company here is very good. And I seem to remember on more then one occasion QB evaluators talking about the single biggest difference between great college and pro QB's is the willingness to throw the ball when the WR doesn't look open. College QB's wait to see separation. Elite NFL QB's put the ball in very tight places. Like "almost" interception tight spaces. I suspect that this stat actually demonstrates just how elite Allen really is.
  22. There are bad takes and then there are straight out stupidly insane takes.
  23. The key to these types of discussions isn't the leap from year 2 to 3 it's the leap from year 1 to 2. Going from 10 TD/12 INT to 20 TD/9 INT and 53% completion to 59% completion was amazing. The year 3 jump makes a lot of sense in the context of the year 2 jump. And for the record to much is made of the Championship game. The Bills lost on the road to the defending Super Bowl champions. Allen didn't have the perfect game like he did a couple of times during the season but he still accounted for nearly 400 total yards of offense. The idea that Allen is at any risk to fall back to his 2019 play or the lunatic idea he could regress back to 2018 is just passive/aggressive anti-Allen BS. It's hard to take this stuff seriously.
  24. That's not how a lot of them see it down here. There are questions with Sewell and the sense is that Chase may be the safer pick. The Bengal's have upgraded the O-line and Chase/Burrow already have a connection.
