I agree with this. Lamar Jackson is so unconventional as an NFL QB operating out of a unique offensive scheme that you have to put him on an island when evaluating QB's. He has been incredibly productive running this offense and his passing, while unconventional, has been spectacular at times. That what the ravens are doing has been successful - to a point - is indisputable. But the bigger questions looming for the Ravens can not be ignored here: * How long can Jackson go before the body takes a beating that slows him down? Sure he is magical at avoiding hits but last night he did take shots to the legs. Does anyone believe he's on course to last 5 more years? * The Ravens failures in the playoffs can not be brushed over. Jackson has been bad to average in these games. Baltimore is 1 - 3 despite having two home games (both they lost). * Because of the way he plays Jackson can be careless with the ball. The only reason his goal line fumble didn't spell doom last night was that the Colts lost their entire starting defensive backfield. Going pack to the pick 6 against Buffalo, two fumbles against the Raiders that cost the Ravens that game; a pick six against the chiefs and last nights fumble Jackson plays the game like a high wire act. Baltimore faces a daunting challenge in how to structure Jackson's next deal. If hey don't give him an Allen type deal he might walk. If they sign him to the big bucks are we sure he will last 6 more years playing at this elite level? And given the uniqueness of the Ravens offense does an Allen like contract for Jackson mean that the Ravens are locked into Harbaugh & Roman for 6 more years? My guess is that the Ravens will follow the Cowboys example and string Jackson along with Franchise designations. It will cost them more but they will avoid a long term deal for the next couple of years. And Jackson will make his money which only seems fair given his play.

But last second wins against Detroit and Indy, two teams with a combined record of 1 - 9, also says something. The fact is that the Ravens are 1 - 3 in the playoffs with Jackson and they haven't played well on offense in any of those playoff games.

I agree. Funny how the two guys who had the most doubters coming out of college turned out to be the best QB's in that class.
-
I was specifically referring to the Ravens defense. The Colts are not exactly an offensive juggernaut and playing at home I would have expected a better showing by their D. IMO the Bills, Chargers and Browns are the top AFC teams. It will be interesting to see how the Ravens stack up against the Browns twice.
-
With all the injuries, I get the Colts defense playing like crap but what the hell is the Ravens excuse? Win or lose this game, Baltimore is not an elite team in the AFC at this time.
-
I don't agree. Tonight is not the first time he's made major tactical mistakes in a game. How could he be standing on that sideline and believe that his defense could stop Baltimore? Another first down and a short FG and the game is over. A TD and the game is over. The FG was an iffy option for the Colts.

Frank Reich is a very overrated coach. They needed to be more aggressive down there and go for the TD.

Quality depth is critical. The Bills are blessed in this regard. The Colts, not so much.

The "lucky" pick six even if caught by Hill would have been for no gain and the Chiefs would have been punting from their own 25. The roughing the passer was no more questionable then the one called on Oliver. Both were the right call under the new rules. You can't pile drive a QB. And for the record, we should have had a first down on the previous play after Allen's run. But that play was canceled by a phantom holding call on Morse. As for the fumble on the kickoff, a pretty tricky tack holding call on Dawkins cancelled a great Moss run that should have had us at 1st & goal. My point in the post you responded to was that in their 2 previous losses the Chiefs were unlucky to lose both games. Luck had nothing to do with our thumping of KC last night.
-
Baltimore was a bit lucky to beat the Chiefs getting a RB fumble when KC was in position to kick the winning FG. And LA only beat the Chiefs by 6 points in a back & forth game. What I saw last night was a beat down, in the Chiefs house, by the Bills.

10/10/21 Gameday SNF Bills @ Chiefs Postgame Thread

Guys like Collinsworth are so damn lazy it makes me crazy. Last night was Allen's SECOND best game this season at QB. He put up even better numbers versus Washington in a wind storm. I mean did Collinsworth forget he was AFC offensive player of the week after that game? As an aside, this was the 3rd straight games where Allen has shined during bad weather conditions. -

How about the phantom hold on Morse that robbed the Bills of a first down on the previous play. That was a worse call then the late hit on Allen. Screw all these people. -

What about the bogus holding call on Morse that robbed Allen of a first down run? -

It would help if they would call a pass on first down. The play calling this half has been abysmal. -

McD and DaBold are playing way to conservatively on offense. -

The offense never really got in a rhythm hitting on a bunch of big plays including 40 yards rushing by Allen on the 1st drive and then long passes for the other 17 points. Not sure there is much they can do to stop those kind of big plays. If they sit back like we are on D I suspect the Bills will try to ram the ball down KC's throat on the ground. -
The Chiefs ran a lot of plays in the first half. They had twice as much TOP as Buffalo. The delay helps the D rest.

A short delay would have hurt us but a long delay helps the Bills. KC had twice as much TOP then we did in the first half so a long break can only help the D get much needed rest. -
Why not take a knee? How dumb are these coaches? The RB makes a heads up play and the head coach has a brain cramp. Kudos to the Browns for carrying him across the goal line. Wow!
-
I guess if you count the ones that Allen has to throw the ball at the feet of the covered RB. Bottom line is we're terrible at running effective screen passes.
-
That Chargers screen pass TD reminded me of the one thing the Bills don't do well on offense. We so rarely even attempt to execute a screen pass.
-
Good point. Some Bills fans and Nick Wright are irrationally hard on Allen. They grade every pass. It's weird.
-
Makeup call maybe?

Aikman is a total putz. He's blabbering about the blow to the head and then when the reply clearly shows it was a blow to the SHOULDER PADS he just says "oh well". Is there a worst color commentator in the NFL?
