  1. what????? On Brady... but yeah despite what the announcers are saying that was intentional grounding by any other QB.
  2. and that is what you do when things break down in the pocket.
  3. There have been numerous plays where they are getting zero separation and a few where they have and Josh has missed them. Why I said they both have to elevate their games - I would put more of the onus on Allen to get rid of the ball and not create negative plays where the receiving option is not there. That being said we could use an upgrade at one receiver position. I like Brown and the rest I feel are good complimentary assets, but not game changers.
  4. Never understood the defensive linemen pushing a guy across the line from behind when a player is stopped by a team mate.
  5. Outside of the offense - Josh and the receivers not getting the job done. The rest of the team outside the one ST gaff has been solid. My concern with Josh is what it has always been, his ability to grow and apply what he has learned. I need to see him find the deep weak safety, I need to see his mechanics stay solid and I need to see him take what the defenses give him.
  6. I honestly think that Josh is so confident in his physical abilities he NEEDS to have moments like this for Daboll to get through to him. Receivers are not getting open and Josh is not going to trust himself to drop it into a window with the picks. But he needs to settle down and throw some more away even if it runs counter to his mental makeup
  7. Daboll is giving him the business. Rightfully so. Allen needs to hear that and see that side of Daboll and the business. They have invested a ton of training not to have him just go out there and play like he did in his first few games.
  8. And then that.... Allen at his worst and his mechanics are just out the window.
  9. See Allen wrapping up that football like he hasn't before.... learns the hard, hard way.
  10. Its all a learning curve for a lot of these young players and even the new coaches. New ST coach will be able to get the rooms attention regarding taking the punt blocking assignments seriously. Should not have to have negative plays to do that, but for a new coach better that this happened earlier this year rather than later to drive the corrections home. My glass half full take of something negative.
  11. Been preaching that Josh needs to learn the basics of ball protection if he is going to scramble or on the designed runs. And now special teams asleep at the wheel and Belichick sees that they are not solid in their blocking assignments.
  12. When he played for the Bills he injured his wrist and groin, and when playing in Marrone and Swartz defenses he was asked to come up and play the run a lot and he would shy away from tackles. It was a thing. Perhaps he has shed that label in NE, but I do not mind testing that against TEs and RBs.
  13. From what I have seen, the Patriots are bringing 5 or 6 guys on the rush. We have to catch that rush in over pursuit and make them pay; so this means designed roll outs to move the pocket, the misdirection and fake misdirection plays, some draws to Gore and Singletary, and some slants by our TEs or WRs in motion. Enough to force them to hesitate and read before they react. Our o-line is going to have to play its best game yet, and Allen is going to need to take care of the ball - more so than they have done in games to date. Dawkins has fallen asleep a few times on late blitzing CBs and Safeties coming up into the slot and Belichick will not miss the success those corner blitzes have had getting to Josh's blind side cleanly. Dawkins needs to play disciplined and before he turns to help his interior line mates, needs to make sure his pass-pro responsibilities on the outside are taken care of. Bill plays the tendencies and he is going to do everything he can to force Allen into his hot read, but make sure he takes that hot read away. Perhaps I would start the game with the I formation with Gore in the backfield - completely predictably safe. Gore flea-flicker to Knox on the jet sweep and just let him plow Gilmore. This sets up the flea-flicker later for Josh to throw to a releasing Knox or Brown whomever is open later when Josh is not so amped up that he throws it over the cross bars. Just a twist on that sweep to Knox last week. Defensively, it is all about disrupting the timing. D-line has to get their hands up, and our secondary has to jam hard at the line and play press to take the short stuff away. Many defenses get caught by NEs rub plays as they try to follow the late motion that NE employs. We have to do something different like stick with our man coverage, but use man assignments in a shallow zone so our d-backs and safeties are not caught trying to follow receivers East/West across the field as that is where Edelmen and others will post up and create the interference needed to buy those late motion receivers the space they need to take those 4-5 yard hits 10 or more yards. They execute - these will be our toughest games this year....as expected. Score up or down our team has to stay level and keep executing their game for 70 minutes. I know games are 60 minutes long, but if you think about it being a 70 minute effort you have a bit left in the tank for that last drive or defensive stand. No lulls, no sitting on leads, just like a pack of dogs keep after them and keep the pedal to the metal till the fat lady is done singing and NE is sent packing with a "L". Go Bills!
  14. That would suck from what I understand of color blind perception in regards to reds and greens - believe it is the most common manifestation. Honestly never really considered that.
  15. That first drive could play out that way as Leslie Frazier is not the quickest with in-game adjustments. That being said, he did do a good job of shutting down what the Giants were doing after they went down the field like a hot knife thru butter on their first possession. We will see, would love it if we defended well to start the game, but sure ol' Bill will have that whole first drive scripted out pretty well. Will watch and root for my Bills either way.
  16. Sort've yes, but last year they led the league in rushing. Belichick can adapt, and knows teams have been loading up on their nickel, big nickel, and dime packages to counter their short throws....so his solution was to scheme ways to get his RB to the 2nd level where it is Sony with a head of steam vs DB's and Safeties. It is a mismatch he exploited quite a bit.
  17. Even if Singletary could give it a go, I really think he would be limited and would like reaggrevate his hammy. Not as adept at the rules regarding PUP lists and such, but at this point McBean should just put Kroft on the PUP, and activate a PS RB. Just hoping that Gore holds up and Yeldon does not cough up the ball again is worrisome as a strategy.
  18. I don't like Edelman at all, so there is that. Was not going for scientifically established and peer reviewed.
  19. Was my take on Lamar as well. Mobility is important and there have been QBs who have excellent mobility and ability to throw on the run, but they usually have a short run at success in the league. Roman will get the most out of him, and maybe he does shed the "gimmick" label and over time can pickup more than a read option play book. Time will tell, but he has played well for the Ravens and I will not take that from him. I did not want Mayfield, but was on the fence regarding other top 3. Each had some positives and some things to worry about.
  20. I will take this. Not too shabby indeed. We have a QB who did not start a full season last year, raw as they come, who's performance some said would never be on par with typical NFL QBs, who's stats are now comparable with typical NFL QBs. Jury is still out, but that is a trend in the right direction. We just have to take the long view and see where this goes.
