  1. Mistake free solid game where we pull far enough ahead that we can give the Jets a steady dose of Singletary to close it out. I want to see a defense that can shut down Bell, and special teams play that is an asset rather than what we had last year. A good team win, that is not a flag fest.
  2. Not that there is any shame in moving on from players - just part of football. I am just surprised the Buffalo Bills news site still has so much legacy content that comes up as related articles when you hit their current news links. Articles about how Peterman has grown from adversity year one to two, or the special bond between Dion Dawkins and McCoy. Prob should tag those as "archive" rather than related content. Just my take , but IMO they are a bit awkward at this stage.
  3. Perhaps it just reminds me of the success the team had in the 90's, but I still like the blue and white with the red helmets. Just thought it was one of our more balanced uni's. Not a fan of buffalo slugs ala Sabres of yore, and though I tip my cap to the legacy standing buffalo, it is pretty boring charging is a better look. Now if they wanted to go A bit metalic with those base colors I would not be opposed.
  4. With the investment they make in players, giving time for injuries to fully heal is the smart move. That being said, the games are not on the line yet. Players will play through more dings during the regular season, and there is likely more pressure to do so.
  5. Not sure what folks are expecting if we are down to our 3rd stringer. Will be handoff, handoff, jet sweep, handoff... You get the picture.
  6. He is pretty good at beating the jam, boxing out DBs and Safeties, has good hands, and can highpoint the ball. Will be interesting to see how those new PI rules affect players with his skill set.
  7. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article234601137.html Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, I did not see it. But if so, mods feel free to merge. Miami is stocking up on 2021 draft picks - is Lawrence in their cross-hairs? Either way, it is going to be a rough ride for anyone behind center down there this year.
  8. Nope. I did not like the kid as a prospect after digging behind the numbers and reviewing his predraft interviews and his approach to those that tried to prepare him. I was not surprised by the combine results and combine interview results. I loved that the Jests wasted a pick on him, and am not surprised he couldn't stick. Raw attitude and skills are great when they are coachable. We have enough guys on the bubble working their tails off getting cut I would take any day over this headache. If he could not make it under Greggo what chance would he have in the accountability culture that McDermott is so keen to maintain?
  9. It is hard to protect your kids if they play any kind of contact sport - just the way it is. You can't wrap them in bubble wrap, but folks can approach it sensibly. Let the kids play the contact sports if they want, and if your kid gets a concussion even HS level staff are better about following protocols to allow for recovery. That being said, if they get a second one I would not fault a parent for pulling their kid and directing them away from contact sports. Kids have lots of energy and sports are a great way to keep them out of trouble and giving that energy an outlet so I would still make sure they were involved in something - just a sport with minimal contact - there are options.
  10. There's a thing that is somewhat pervasive in our culture; where it is right/wrong, left/right, polar choices with nothing in between. Not saying eball is doing that as I generally like his posts, just that it is a thing. Maybe there was a minority saying the kid would never make it, but all I can remember is folks seeing how talented he was covering the field, how fast, but he was lost reading his gap fits stopping the run and needed to improve. There was some talk that with his height, bend, and speed he could be an impact DE...he probably could pull that off if that is what the coaches wanted from him - he is that physically gifted. Folks that say a first year rookie will never learn this or that, I generally think are a bit foolish or impatient or both - that goes for Allen too. Wondering last year if that was the right way to use his skill set should be something we can bat around. Same with saying a player has to improve in areas of their game at the position they are in.
  11. I kind of like how organic the conversations get when they were just structured around pre, 1st half, 2nd half, post game. The only thing that I think is annoying is when 2 posters just get locked into several pages of exhaustive circular arguments... Almost always devolves into pointless mud slinging. As long as there is a way to encourage folks to take those offline. Although it can be entertaining at times ?
  12. Daboll said in his presser last week that they do not game plan for preseason, rather they pick areas to work on against live competition... Missed the game (was on the road), but it sounds like there is more work to do on the things they were working on.
  13. No one hates Zay - they hate the way the ball bounces off his hands; the inconsistencies where he comes up big in some games and is a drive-killer in others. There is a difference.
  14. Kind of where I am at - For a QB to take on all the bad karma of a Cleveland franchise you probably have to find a guy like Mayfield who has moxy and is oblivious to outside opinions. I think he is the right guy for that team, not like I have to hang out with him or anything - but taking in a ball game with a chick....not sure if there is anything less normal.
  15. the ghost of Marty past? Schottenheimer always had a very competitive Chief's team during the regular season, but just could not get over the hump and win the big games. I don't think this prediction is too far off, but I agree with Happy Gilmore regarding the Saints and Chicago. The Bills and Jets could easily split, but I think we had them last year in both games barring a complete meltdown on Special Teams. I do like Darnold and felt he was more NFL ready than Allen last year, but I still feel that Allen has the higher ceiling - only time will tell. I would love to say this is the year we topple NE off its AFC East throne, but I wont say it till we do it. I do think all three AFC East teams loaded up on guys who can penetrate and push the pocket Brady likes to step into.... will be interesting to see how it goes. I do not wish him injury, but if he gets knocked silly and decides it is time to hang up the cleats I will not be too broken up over it.
  16. Better than my answer. ESPN head quarters 3rd floor, down the hall and to the left of the ladies room.
  17. Well if analytics was involved it has to be true right?
  18. Well if "Rumblings" is correctly quoting the Bills Communication office then: "Wade CAN make the initial 53-man roster outright according to the Buffalo Bills’ communications department. If he is released by the Bills during their roster cutdown, he can be claimed by another team and placed on their 53-man active roster. If he passes through waivers, Buffalo gets that extra spot on their practice squad where he will stay all season. They can use that 11th spot for free but he can’t be called up to the active roster. They can also choose to place him on the regular practice squad, costing them one of their ten spots. If he’s on the 10-man roster, he can be signed by other teams or the Bills to the active roster. What’s more unclear is if he makes an NFL team’s 53-man roster, what would happen if he is released during the season. He’d likely find a home on a practice squad somewhere but no one seems to know if he would still be eligible for the Bills to add to their practice squad at the later point with the exemption." But yeah, there are a lot of versions of this truth.
  19. Every time I read a post like this my inner fan who is very superstitious screams "no!" I know it is irrational, but it is not like the fickle gods of football fate have ever been kind to the Bills. They have carried us older fans to the mountain top a few times only to chuck us off the other side. Yet here we go, waiving flags of hope in open defiance that are certain to get their attention....again. Everyone just needs to shush this optimistic nonsense and channel their inner-Sully.
  20. I think they are rushing him back a bit too fast. If he is this far off from fully planting on that leg, but hey it is the 49ers problem. Its not like their fans were sweating it out as we Bills fans got to watch EJ launch passes into the bench, media tents, well all over the place. Pulled up an old sports article on Manuel and just busted out laughing at how bad it was.... "Manuel also got hit hard, but he was eventually just yanked because he was not good at football. Manuel would finish the day 9-of-20 for 86 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions."
  21. Garoppolo was throwing pick 6's like a machine during the 49ers training camp. He has definitely not recovered his form from his ACL surgery. If half of that happened with Allen during training camp this board would be broken for most of a week.
  22. There was a thread on this Gunner and it looks like if he is cut he would have to clear waivers to be placed on the PS. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2019/8/18/20810950/clarifying-the-buffalo-bills-roster-status-with-running-back-christian-wade
