  1. Too soon to pass judgment. If they hit on the biggest pieces they've spent draft capital on so far of Allen, TE, (analogous to Kelly, Talley or Smith) by way of us seeing marked improvement throughout the rest of 2018, then I'm good with letting them build up the supporting cast too through 2019.
  2. Whaley's gifts were to Bills success as this was to Ralphie's self-esteem Christmas morning:
  3. That's part of my point though--you and I could take a crack at this GM thing and have just as much (or little) success for how many college All-Americans = busts in the NFL. That said, I am happy we have Tre White--lockdown CB on his side of the field anyway. Nobody's even tried to really test him yet this year (or had to). Compared to the rest, Dion also seems to be more than holding his own when not hurt.
  4. Excerpt from: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000804541/article/2017-nfl-draft-quicksnap-grades-for-all-32-teams Buffalo Bills Draft picks: Tre'Davious White (No. 27 overall), Zay Jones (No. 37 overall), Dion Dawkins(No. 63 overall), Matt Milano (No. 163 overall), Nathan Peterman (No. 171 overall), Tanner Vallejo (No. 195 overall) Day 1 grade: A Day 2 grade: A Day 3 grade: A Overall grade: A The skinny: Instead of taking Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback of the future, they moved down 17 spots in the first round, allowing Kansas City to make the pick. They received a third-round pick this year and a future first-rounder for the move down. Buffalo selected a good corner in White with the 27th pick to take over for Stephon Gilmore, meeting a dire need. Well done. Buffalo certainly required help at the receiver position, and Zay Jones was the best value at the spot. In fact, they thought enough of Jones to swap a third- for a fifth-round pick in the process. They found excellent value in guard/tackle Dion Dawkins, who deserved to be picked higher. The Billsfound an excellent quarterback in round five, as Nathan Peterman should have gone a round or two earlier. Sixth-round pick Tanner Vallejo is a special teams ace and will find his way on the field on defense. ************************************************************************ Per the "expert" draftniks getting paid to voice an opinion in 2017, the McD Bills had a solid draft with all information known/available to them at that time, and plugged gaping holes spread throughout their roster. As other posters have rightly pointed out, still way too early to draw any real conclusions about either Mahomes (one hit wonder?) or Allen (JK boom or accuracy bust?), so why don't we come back to this sometime in 2019? And I would be remiss not to point out the Peterman shout out, lol
  5. 90's unis can't be beat. Miss the red helmet most of all though now.
  6. Which Starbucks are you going to? That seems way too cheap
  7. Have the greatest respect in the world for Frank, good guy, great player in his role, and I think would've made a good HC here too. Pederson also credits him for coming up with the offensive SB gameplan that stymied the Patsies D. But we have to roll with what we've got, and as mentioned before, the jury's still out. I will say McD can put a lot of naysayers to bed if he's able to build on the 2nd half of last week and keep play-calling responsibilities for the D--I just wish they weren't playing the Vikes in Minnesota this week.
  8. Impressive! I couldn't get past NJ Generals, the Express, and of course the Houston Gamblers (JK did always look good in their black unis) without looking it up
  9. One of the main points of this thread is when have we ever stared down worse odds coming into a game than this week? So it's more of identifying a correlation to games in our history than it is trying to predict an actual outcome. I for one am curious where this would rank in our history. If we can't talk about what interests us for every aspect of these games before and after, then what is the point of having a discussion board? I remember staying up late watching that one unbelievably slip away and feeling like it was worse than if the game had been a blowout--Bills had to dig deep into their bag of despair to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory that night
  10. Local sports radio down here in the Atl are usually pretty tame towards the Falcons, esp. compared to media in the northern markets, but that week they unloaded to my delight, as no one expected that egg from the defending NFC champs.
  11. I still regret taking sustained success/playoffs for granted, where every Sunday I just expected the Bills to come out and dominate, and it would be more of a surprise if they lost—the 17 years before last taught me appreciation if nothing else though. We deserve to hit the lotto with Allen, I’d say we’re due
  12. What about the home opener in 2003--beat Brady with the ugly stick 31-0, then of course in very Bills fashion, lost to them by the same score in Foxboro at the end of the same year. Not sure what the Vegas line was for that first game though.
  13. Really am having trouble remembering a regular season game since the Bills have been consistently mediocre post-1999, where the outcome was already so decided in everyone's minds, both nationally and amongst fellow Bills fans, than what is expected to be in store for us this Sunday facing a top-5 Minnie Defense and solid O. Does anyone have any votes for games during that stretch where the Bills pulled out an even more unlikely "W" and surprised the world?
  14. I know, I know. Sad to have to follow the herd mentality on this one, because it seems to be such a foregone conclusion--still gotta play the game though, and miracles do happen. I've got my fingers crossed
  15. Great point--why have Culley on the payroll at all if he can't fulfill this type of job description adequately? While I in principle would have liked a cagey old vet on the roster to help Allen out like Darnold has in Jersey, at the end of the day the burden is on this coaching staff (Daboll, Culley in particular) to bring this kid's development along at a reasonable pace
  16. What if the Bills shock the world? How many heads will explode nationally and in these boards? The survivor pools will be all but over. I ask because I wonder if this will be the ultimate trap game for the Vikes
  17. Ok, that was legit funny. Howevahhhhhhh...one of these guys wears a HOF gold jacket, and the other wears whatever this is: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/09/the-bills-quarterback-got-the-nickname-tyrod-tailored-thanks-to-his-postgame-outfit
  18. Brady: What, WHAT did you just say homey? Come at me bro! Hogan: Did I stutter? I said, testing for HGH is going to be fun around here
  19. They had a semi decent QB with Kenny O'Brien too
  20. My thinking too--if focus is on Mayfield future, have to give the interim to Haley, plus has Gregg Williams ever removed the bountygate stank from himself fully?
  21. Ugghh, the only thing worse than habitually losing to the Pats would be losing to the J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets...I don't think I can take anymore lopsided division beatings over the course of the next decade, and no franchise deserves it less then the Jets (except for Miami, lol).
  22. One can only hope, and at some point, it will be, Alex Guerrero voodoo notwithstanding
  23. Probably is a Pats fan worried what Allen will do to the power dynamics in the division with an aging Brady if Allen turns into something special
