  1. Albertson's used to own ACME in the Philly area. Mgt (wy wife works at ACME corporate) was soooo glad when they got sold to Supervalu of Minnesota. Everything is getting better. Albertson's management was a mess.
  2. I think the more interesting question is what will the league do when Belicheck gets caught doing something else? he, even now, admits no guilt and calls his shenanigans a misunderstanding of the rules. i think even the most ardent Patriots supporter can read a memo and realize that Bill, at least post-NFL memo, knew that he was breaking the rules. What will happen when they get caught with too many helmets with receivers? What will happen when the Pats get caught stealing the audio frequencies of their opponents? What will happen when they get caught bugging the locker room? is there a specific rule about having listening devices, or even web cams, in the opposing locker room? if there isn't a specific rule you can bet that the Pats will have those things installed and then claim that there was some sort of misinterpretation and that what they were doing was completely legitimate. What will happen when it is discovered that the Patriots made a deal with the management of the hotel that opponents use whe in Boston to monitor their meeting facilities or have housekeeping "borrow" playbooks? If I were a HC I'd bring my own security team in and do a sweep of every room I was going to use when in Boston. every single one. if the Pats bar the private security team from the grounds of the stadium (because it's private property) call in the league. These things may not occur now, but a person who refuses to acknowledge his wrongdoing is a prime target for recidivism. Mark my words, there will be a SpyGate II at some point.
  3. I can't say that I particularly care how much oil we either save or don't save in that process. I would support recycling plastics simply because they will be around forever. "proper disposal" as someone else called for is throwing it into a sanctioned hole. You can go back to that hole in thousands of years and find your water bottle from yesterday. Why shouldn't we try to keep the bottle out of that hole given that we know it will never biodegrade? It's not the same with paper or even metals. Those are biodegradable and will, in time, return to the soil. If we choose to throw those away and make new ones because there is less opportunity cost that's fine. Why, when the have the means not to, would we want to just make mountains and mountains of plastic? I'd rather burn the oil to keep the plastic out of the landfill than use the oil to make more plastic to go into the hole of "proper disposal". What's funny is, eventually, there will be no more oil. Maybe not today maybe not for awhile, but eventually it will happen. how much do you want to bet that we then start harvesting landfills for plastics to recycle since, even if it takes 1,000 years to use all the oil, the plastic will still be there.
  4. Just long enough to serve his suspension
  5. To be fair many large cities ar elike that so if we're just going to include the downtown area Philly is great. Center City has a very low crime rate, beautiful buildings and nice infrastructure. When you include North and West Philly it gets a lot less nice in a hurry. I'm not saying Balitmore doesn't have nice areas. I'm saying that it's bad areas are comparable to the bad areas of much larger cities in depth of poverty and frequency of violence. When you get to the biggest cities there are even layers of the 'hood. In Buffalo you maybe get to level 3 of hell. In B-More you can get to 5 or 6 which when you talk about other cities of similar size is pretty bad. For example, North Philly is pretty bad, but the South Bronx are worse. Just my opinions. As as we all know opinions are like a-holes. Everyone has one and they all stink...
  6. I see that you moonlight for the Baltimore Chamber of Commerce as well. :-) Although I have to agree. In other cities you seem to be better able to avoid the problems. For example, I've never had any issues in DC, NY, Philly, LA, and I worked in Camden (another super violent place per capita) for 4 years. No problems at all. I've been to the Inner Harbor twice as an adult and my car was broken into both times by crack heads looking for loose change and small items they can sell. Needless to say I'm not terribly enthused to return. I suspect that many of those who contend that the bad areas of Baltimore are just like other cities have never been to the bad parts to compare. There are bad parts of NY and then there are BAD parts of NY. Buffalo really doesn't have any BAD parts and if it does they are small by comparison. This doesn't mean I want to hang around on East Delavan and Fillmore at night but I'll go there in the daytime. Baltimore has places I won't go in the daytime, ever. That's what seems to distinguish it from other mid sized cities. It has those uber-nasty neighborhoods of the NYs and LAs but is much smaller in size and population so the effect is greatly magnified. The gang issues in Baltimore seem to be more serious than other cities right now. I'm not sure if NY (or DC)gangs are moving in and they are fighting with locals over corners or whatever but I know that's happening in NJ and causing some problems. I'm not the po po though so i can only go by what I hear.
  7. We don't exactly have a stable of HoF fullbacks on the roster so it's either pulling for the kid or the journeyman "veteran" who is working for his 6th NFL team since 2002 and who was also started off as a UDFA. So I'd rather see the UDFA with the good story make the team over the UDFA who wasn't good enough for the Giants, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Dolphins or Jets. Sue me.
  8. To be fair to Jauron, his Chicago teams got ravaged by injuries. Say what you will baout him the BIlls had multiple opportunities to pack it in last year and they played hard all year. I've never cared for his choics at OC and I'm hoping Schonert is an improvement. DJ WILL keep the players motivated though and they've done a good job of bringin in a lot of leaders and self starters. I'd rather have a less talented team that's going balls out than a better team that turns it on and off. The on and off teams break your heart.
  9. For rookies I honestly believe that Viti is going to start and be great as a lead blocker. I like Steve Johnson as well but he's not going to get as much PT this year barring calamity. For vets, I agree with Roscoe Parrish because I think that Schoenert is going to do a better job of getting him involved. Jon Wendling has a chance to since the safety situation is up in the air. In order to surprise you have to get on the field.
  10. Well, as big a problem is not running it every time you have certain personnel on the field. We've been terrible with that recently. For example, every single time that Josh Reed came in motion toward the formation last year we ran the ball. Every, single, time. I'm not kidding, go back and look. And we wonder why good defense were able to kill us. I'm sure every team picked that up on film and just ignored whatever the QB was doing and keyed on the RB on that play. We have been absolutely brutal in terms of running counters off plays. Every play should be run with a counter in mind. If you want to run with Reed blocking after motioning toward the line that's fine, but you've got to mix in some PA passes, maybe a flea flicker or a reverse to take advantage of the over pursuit that is coming. Fairchild's offense was sub high school in complexity at times. He got so obsessed with formations and personell that he failed to design effective plans for each of those formations and packages. After awhile all you had to do was look at who was on the field and where they were liend up to know what was going on. Another example. Anytime an H-Back didn't motion out of the backfield before the snap the play was a pass. Everytime. It defeats the purpose of all the "deception" crap if the defense, before the ball is even in play, knows with reasonably certainly that you are either running or passing. Good offenses can run or pass effectively out of any formation.
  11. Honestly, I don't want to throw to a FB ever, not even once. Use him for what he's for...annihilating LBs and pass protection. Lorenzo Neal is probably the prototypical blocking FB of this generation. He's had 192 catches over a 15 year period for a whopping 5.5 average and 12 total TDs, never more than 2 in any given year. I'd rather have a Neal than Larry Centers right now. Lorenzo Neal is probably the antithesis of fast and or shifty but it doesn't matter. His job is to clear a hole and he gets that done really well. Neal is 5'11" 255lbs. Viti is 5'9" 245lbs. They are both rolling balls of thorns coming through the hole and both outweigh a good number of modern LBs and have lower centers of gravity which develop tremendous leverage For comparison, the last FB we did draft highly was Carwell Gardner (round 2, 1990). he was 6'2" 240lbs and I don't think anyone woudl ever refer to him as a punishing blocker and part of the reason is pad level. FWIW, Sam Gash was 6'0" 242lbs. Viti at 5'9" 245 is more compact than Gash or Neal. He who gets low wins. Gash was drafted it was in round 8. Today he would have been a UDFA
  12. Yes because clearly we need to work on the good ol' 888. Better known as the you3 runs down past the Buick and I'll throw it up there. 5 yd out is a good way to work on timing and crisp route running
  13. 1.1 billion US. Thanks Ben, keep cheaping the currency...
  14. That pisses me off beyond belief BTW. Their whole arrangement with the NFL to have "sell-outs" is a sham.
  15. Where's Tedy Bruschi when you need him. C'mon Tedy, stop being so stingy with the healing...
  16. That it is, Eddie. I love that movie...[/i]
  17. Finally, Toronto in the only role it's good for...Sugar Daddy...
  18. Agreed but given that we are only bringing in one rookie Fb and that the FB we have on the roster isn't established here in any kind of way at worst he's got a 50/50 shot at making the club.
  19. Gene Bradley #37 overall 2nd round QB from Arkansas State. Does not show up on the 1980 roster. I was 2. Help anyone?
  20. How about Bernard Ford WR 3rd round 1988 from Central Florida
  21. Patulski made the team, Cousineau never signed
  22. Unless he gets hurt this kid's on the team...
