  1. I'll admit I started to get nervous after the Davis pick. Like, no way we're going into this season with McGovern+Edwards combo as our only viable option. As long as VPG can start our line makes sense again. Also, we need maulers so we can run the ball a lot because we don't have any receivers.
  2. Yeah maybe. The fact we traded out of 144 is a bit of a tell about what we think of the rest. The trade was good value but it's not like we can't use more talent this year. My larger point was just that I'm not sure we got the best player with our picks due to heavy emphasis on need this year, and maybe this was the year we had to do that. Next year we'll be able to go BPA with more high value picks and the cupboard replenished a bit.
  3. Rest will be depth and camp fodder. However this finishes up, we got a starting WR, S, and C which were arguably our three biggest needs. Plus we got rotational depth at DT and RB which were also needs. Beane went need early and often but this was a year where we needed to do that.
  4. It’s crazy how Beane seems to have gone most pressing need with each pick. Some will say but what about WR? We went there first. We have other needs. We’ll take another WR before the day is done. We needed a C. End of story.
  5. You seem to be forgetting the part that a big reason why we got to those games vs. Chiefs is because of the foundation McD built in the first place. It's not an accident that we've had a bunch of top 5 scoring defenses since he took over. I'm not trying to make excuses for him either because Reid clearly has McD's number, but claiming that he's a "burden" we need to overcome or battle "apologist propaganda" seems like gross hyperbole. Anyway, we clearly needed another DT to fill out the rotation. Hopefully, Carter is up to the challenge because he's going to play.
  6. One of pre-draft videos compared him to Kenny Golladay (Lions version). It's not that far off imo.
  7. I know next to nothing about him but going safety then DT is hardly a surprise. We needed help there. I'm sure we'll take another WR tomorrow. I'd have preferred we draft a C though this draft seems light on them. Carter will play snaps because we need him to. McD rotates. We need another end as well.
  8. I assume we're just going BPA here. We already went for need. Best guy left among WR, S, DL, C.
  9. Not sure who's still out there but I think it's definitely needed. McD likes to rotate so you know guys who aren't our starting four will be playing meaningful snaps.
  10. We could really use another guy along the line (edge or inside). Have to wonder how long we'll wait to address that.
  11. I will say that although it's easy to be down on the pick for all the reasons mentioned and make jokes about Allen picking his wr Ken Dorsey, it does make me feel better than this was one of the guys Josh wanted. Maybe that's a relationship that will help make the team dynamic better.
  12. Unless there's another huge run on WRs, I don't understand why we picked Coleman here. At least trade back. Also, we have six years worth of data telling us that Josh needs receivers who can gain separation. He waits for guys to get open instead of throwing them open. Maybe Coleman is a better blocker than I'm giving him credit for, but this just doesn't seem like an ideal fit.
  13. We really going to use the whole ten mins after discussing it for 20 hours?
  14. It was definitely the head scratcher moment of the draft, but even though Penix is old with a very checkered injury history he could become the best player in the draft, and so from that perspective I sort of get it. Falcons better be right to justify doing this.
  15. Main thing is we just have to get one who can play on the outside right away. Maybe that's #28 or maybe we move up to the top of the 2nd for a guy using the Vikings pick. I continue to think that trading up in rd1 is reckless. We just went through a team overhaul where we lost a number of starters and severely thinned our depth. There are still too many holes to fill on this roster to be going all in like that.
  16. Yeah I wouldn't trust any of that from Beane. None of those guys are good enough to get it done on the outside against top coverage. We need someone that isn't on the roster. Also, to whatever degree he was trying to tell us something, I do think they believe Kinkaid and Shakir will make leaps. I also think they will. Cook will hopefully improve in the passing game too. But we still need another wide out.
  17. With so much lost depth and holes to fill on both sides of the ball, it’d be reckless to trade up. That’s what makes this trade so perplexing. We NEEDED Diiggs this year. Instead we’re basically paying top dollar (via cap) to play against us. Next year we’ll have more options. In no particular order, we need to address: 1. both outside WR spots 2. Interior OL starters (C maybe LG) and depth 3. Starting Safety 4. Edge depth 5. DT depth 6. LB depth We don’t know what Milano will look like when he returns. He’s pushing 30. Daquan is re-signed but is entering his mid-30s. We could use a third RB. Trading multiple picks to move up into the teens to take a wideout who will likely take a year or two to figure things out is bad planning. I’d rather see us trade a lower pick for a proven stopgap and pick away at the problem over time. BPA in the meantime. We have too many needs to get hyper focused. This is now a re-tool year.
  18. Diggs had the same amount of drops as last year and 2020 when he made all pro. The real issue was no one else could get open vs. single coverage and so defenses just kept on bracketing Stef which kept him close to the LOS. We haven't done anything to set up life without him. Who are the starting outside WRs?
  19. Diggs was getting bracket coverage in the second half of the season, and we still couldn't get open on the other side of the field. I just don't see how this isn't a major setback. 30M in dead cap this year is just devastating. Plus, while Shakir can play outside but Samuel is more of a slot. This trade leaves a gaping hole in the WR room. We can draft someone who will eventually become that guy but as for 2024 things just got a whole lot more difficult.
  20. I briefly lost faith part way through last season but McD has been a steadying presence his entire Bills tenure. We have a culture of accountability and winning that starts with him. McD definitely has his faults. He's too conservative. He meddles with the offense, putting guys in bad positions (e.g. forcing a pass blocking line to run more than they're suited) because he wants complimentary football. Reid owns him. With all that said, until we have a roster so unequivocally talented as to only be held back by their coach, McD still has value here. Besides, I get the impression that McBeane are an item, and that combo has proven capable across multilple seasons now. The grass isn't always greener, and we had a lot of years of some *****-brown grass in Buffalo.
  21. With more releases (so far) than restructures, I wonder if that means Beane will be aggressive trading futures for more picks this year. We need players.
  22. This is super interesting on a number of fronts, but the main thing is Morse was perhaps the last thing holding McD back from turning this offense into run first so he can play more complimentary football. We need a big RB and to replace Gabe with another blocking WR, but now we can run 11 personnel with more of a bruising interior. BTW I hate this development. Morse was still good and I liked the Daboll version of our offense better.
