  1. I am having a hard time getting used to the media being down on a team as much as the ones who cover the Buffalo Bills. Franchises who have some pride in their organization would start freezing these negative people out in other teams I follow. Maybe you guys are used to it over so much time, I don't really have the answer. But then again there is a lot of negativity on this board anyway. I expect some from trolls and people who lean towards that type of demeanor anyway. But it seems like way more negativity than most boards I have been on. It is pretty easy to spot the negative posters on this board, they don't even try and disguise it. All I can guess is losing does take it's toll on a fanbase. I hope I never get that negative about a team I said I was a fan of.
  2. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23659740/rookie-quarterback-progress-reports-first-impressions-13-qbs-drafted-2018 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is it the media has a love /hate relationship with Josh Allen? I just got done reading an ESPN article on how all the quarterbacks drafted this year are doing. ESPN used Rodak and his insight on how Allen is doing. It was by far one of the more negative pieces done for the article. Mayfield and Darnold ended up sounding like they were having less struggles than Allen was even though more negative reports have been coming out of their camps. They had their home town media covering for them towards the end of the article . The Rodak did Allen no favors in my opinion other than commenting on his athleticism, arm, and running ability. I really don't think he is in Allens corner when it comes to his consistency with his passes. He nitpicks in most of his reporting about Allens miscues. Trying to convince his readers Allen is much worse than any of the Big 5 quarterbacks drafted. After taking in all of what the different Bills "media" are writing, I feel there is a misconception and agenda going on. I think a lot of the so called media are lazy and don't even attempt to do research for themselves. They repeat whatever they think will help get fans to log onto their tweets or articles, so that in some way it is justifying that they are actual media. Which in a lot of cases I feel it is a longshot. And then the fans get put into the position of arguing for , or against Allen. It is like the media gets a perverse feeling out of splitting the fanbase. Even though it can't be healthy for the organization. Sorry about the long post.
  3. Allen missing more games than Rosen is misleading and you know it. In his first game he got hurt and had pins and screws put in his shoulder, knocking him out for the year. Last year he got hurt in the Air Force game and missed the 2nd half and two more full games. He came back and played in his bowl game. Something Rosen could have done but he decided to protect his ass in the draft and didn't play. Most of the media says he was OK to play in the bowl game. And how did sitting out his bowl game help Rosen in the draft? So Allen didn't actually miss as many games as you allude to. He was granted a redshirt for his injury of playing half of a game 1 season, his first season at Wyoming.
  4. I am on another board, and someone was getting on another poster for his putting Josh Allen stories on the board. He was mad because he got tired of people bashing Josh Allen. As far as I am concerned the reader doesn't have to read the articles, they can skip over them. I myself like having the information at hand. I don't necessarily like what is written in them, but I am glad someone posted them. My biggest complaint is the quality of what some so-called reporters put out. You hardly ever see any originality . You do see a lot of laziness and agendas. Whatever happened to writing a piece and letting the reader come to their own conclusion? One of the biggest problems with media these days is not getting it correct or having quality, it is about who is first or who can get a following. Too many jock shock /shock jock guys out there these days in my opinion. It used to be a nice change to see that sort of thing out there, now it is overkill. This in not a rub on any poster, just a few thoughts.
  5. If one has ever played quarterback or been a pitcher in baseball, they understand that repetition is the cure. I played both positions and struggled with throws to first base or passes in the flats. I think it is safe to assume Allen can make short throws, but at times something holds him back. With me it was overthinking the process too much. The more thinking, the worse the results. This small phenomenon has ended careers. I had a catcher who had to switch positions because he couldn't throw the ball back to the mound. (See Major League 2 as poor mans sample.) He could throw out runners stealing second base just fine. I have seen this playing, and coaching. I don't feel Allen has that big of a problem with it as the media projects. It may have gotten into his mind a little bit, but not to the point where he does it more than one out of 8 short passes. One has to realize how many eyes are on Allen . Waiting for the smallest of screwups. Just like they are with Mayfield getting tipped passes, or Darnold fumbling. It is human nature, people wanting to be proven correct or see people fail. I managed to fix myself and others through repetition. Taking the thinking out of it and let muscle memory take over. That is how great shooters in basketball take themselves out of shooting slumps. They let muscle memory take back over. Same goes for golfers and other sports. (Edit: For those of you who are going to suggest I take my talents around the NFL, I am booked out for the next 10 years. ?).
  6. Only if I am sitting by the Riverside with you Big John. Are you one of those types that like to cuddle??
  7. And you also said to let him sit until the game slowed down for him. I am asking how you know if the game needs to be slowed down for any of the qbs? I am specifically implying Allen. You are assuming the game is too fast for him before he has a chance to prove otherwise. That is all I questioned. Next time try and comprehend the question before you go off half cocked.
  8. I haven't seen any good arguments to start anyone besides hypothetical what ifs. The reason for that is it is too damn early on. Let it go man. What signs of improvement is he showing? For that to happen he would have had to look bad at some point in camp. That hasn't happened. You don't go off of what he did in college, you go off of what he does while with the Bills.
  9. What if he doesn't need the game to slow down for him? What if McCarron does? Then what? I just think it is best to wait and see how it plays out. It is so early in the process. If Allen is ready and wins the job, why make him wait? Why delay his development for another year. It would only tell the team they have to wait to win. When I coach I always put my best team on the field or court. Why wouldn't this staff do the same? It is just another way of looking at it.
  10. It makes him someone with a twitter account who managed to get into the Bills practice. I used to be able to get in the Broncos practices. Big whup.
  11. Did you see Allen hit the receiver both times. McCarron threw it way over the head of the receiver. Maybe his shorts crawled up his butt, giving him a wedgie. Just joking about it. These are like warm up drills, I don't see why anyone would get exited one way or the other. For the money they are making they should be able to lay it in there 95% of the time. Until the pads are on I won't get too exited . I want the cream to rise to the top. If Allen or any of the others are not up to the task, then they shouldn't start. Whoever gives the Bills the best chance to win. A lot of people are saying Allen needs to sit because the line and blocking won't be good. I can see their point. But on the other hand he is definitely used to that. He mostly faced 8 man fronts, with teams challenging him to throw it deep to beat them. His OC ran the ball at the 8 man fronts. He honestly didn't know how to coach against them. And the receivers couldn't get separation on 1 on 1 coverage, so Allen is used to poor blocking and putting the ball into tight spaces. What he will see in the NFL will pretty much look the same. It was mind baffling that his OC couldn't figure out how to beat an 8 man front. Maybe Allen can't adapt to the NFL, but I will be suprised if he doesn't.
  12. And what about the two dropped passes in the end zone? Or the 5-7 and a touchdown drive? Inconsequential when reporting.
  13. If this helps I figure out what search engines I use and then type in the subject I want to read about. In this case type in Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills. Then whenever my search engine or sports site like Bleacher Report has an article come up, it shows on your preferred reading material. Others on here might have a better or easier way of doing it, but that is how I do it. I have seen a lot on Darnold, but not much on the rest of the quarterbacks drafted in the first round. Hope it works for you.
  14. Would you show me one quote or excuse that Allen personally made? The answer is no you can't. Simply because he hasn't done it. He has said his footwork is bad. He took blame for the tweets, where he could have tried to explain them away. He didn't explain them away, he took responsibility for them. He didn't say he was 15 years old when copied them off of a rap song or a TV show. I have never seen him blame his teammates or cuss them out . He has never blamed anyone else for his shortcoming in football. He got to play in the Senior Bowl as a junior because he had already graduated. The guy is practically a boy scout , but for some reason he has more than his share of haters. At least get it correct, Allen has not made one excuse that I have ever heard or read that could even begin to be taken seriously. Does he have people like me sticking up for him with facts and opinion, hell yes. I just don't understand why so many supposed Bills fans have it out for him? All he has done his whole life is overcome doubt and naysayers. I predict you will be the next in line to be proven wrong. Allen tends to do that to people who don't believe in him.
  15. I take it you still get your newspaper delivered in the afternoon?? The three podcasts I have seen he has always had Allen #1. I do kind of remember him having Jackson up there high at one point though.
  16. I agree , Cleveland sucks. But so does your reasoning. The Cavs won, so end of story. You can always hope the Vikings make the Super Bowl and lose.
  17. All I can say is Allens old OC never had the "it" factor when it came to calling plays. There was no rythem or fluidity to his offense. It was always herky jerky. He never tried to get Allen into a rythem passing. Never managed to get his offense into a rythem where the other team didn't know what was coming at them. Or made the defense sit back on their heals undecided on how to defend a qb who had all this talent. It was almost like he was standing behind the offense while they were lined up telling the defense what play they were going to run next. Imagine one of the worst OC's the Bills ever had and times it by 2. How that offense won 3 national championships at North Dakota State with him calling the plays amazes me to this day. So when you watch what Allen had to persevere while he was qb at Wyoming, it is astonishing what he and Wentz accomplished despite Vigen and his horrible play calling. I was used to the Paul Roach and Joe Tiller eras at Wyoming. Providing wide open offenses and zero predictability other than high scoring games. Tiller went on and brought the West Coast offense to the Big Ten and Purdue. Giving Brees his shot at the NFL. A predominantly run first conference. Bohl is building a great base at Wyoming, but it would go a lot faster there if Vigen was not a part of it. So please understand that if Allen were under an offense like Texas Tech, or Oklahoma, his numbers would be crazy. It takes a lot for me to get up for a football game knowing Vigen will be calling the plays. Bohl is a loyal guy and keeps him. I understand loyalty. But how Vigen got to coach Wentz and Allen is mystifying. Probably the only reason he is still coaching. In our bowl game against Central Michigan, Allen had thrown for three touchdowns in the 1st quarter. So what did Vigen do after that? He went back to his usual and ran on 1st and 2nd down every series. Sometimes 3rd down depending on where the ball was. In Allens last game with Wyoming , Vigen smothered Allen one last time and didn't let him air it out. Made him hand it off even though it was a blowout. And some of you guys wonder why Allens numbers were what they were. You had to live it to believe it. I hate Vigen with a passion. If a good qb wanted to go to Wyoming to play to showcase his talents to the the NFL, I would tell them to take a pass. As much as it hurts me to say that. I love Bohl as the HC at Wyoming. He is a good man and learned under Tom Osborne at Nebraska as a player and coach. His defense is being lauded by some to be a top 10 defense this year. So Wyoming should be in most games this year just because of that. Wyoming defense might have 4 to 5 drafted players next year, they are that good and deep. The only question marks are at defensive backs. You never know about them until they are under fire.
  18. I get it to a point. Then it gets to be overkill. You guys are the vets. Lol.
  19. If you don't want people to guess at what you mean, maybe try being a little more specific. Toodles, Francis.
  20. Different quarterbacks, systems, and coaches. I am pretty sure this staff could care less what EJ Manuel did when he was here. Why do so many of you on here like to look at past failures on here? It is akin to waking up in Seattle everyday and realizing it is raining , again. But that you keep living there and do nothing to change the outcome. I understand it is Buffalo and is expected, the Browns are the same way. But I honestly don't know how you guys live with defeat , and the never ending negative thinking. Not a way to go through life, or even a week at a time. This draft brought you some good picks, be exited about that if nothing else. It looks like the defense will be solid, that is how championship teams get started. It is not like a college team where it takes a vast amount of time to change a program around. It is the NFL and free agency. A team can build through the draft and trades along with it. Give this GM and coaches a bit of time to turn this around. They have been a part of winning elsewhere, that is big.
  21. Oh shucks..... where do I pick up my award?
  22. Maybe, just maybe the new guys question things. We didn't know we were supposed to bend over and defer.
  23. Are you serious? I read the article and got little from it except to read more books they are selling. He threw in a part that he didn't draft Gasol because he had a nickname and man boobs. That Lin is Asian and should be small and slow. This article was trash and not sure why you would use it to get across a point. When the day is done you still have to do your homework using all the info. And to do that you would have to use all the different info by putting in the parameters to set your algorithm up correctly. And on top of this the article was written for marketers. Basically telling them to open their eyes and don't be biased with the information put in front of them. It had very little to do with a college qb becoming a pro qb. And the article didn't even bring up football. This is a reach at best. You just wasted precious time of anyone who read this because of you posting it.
  24. And he hasn't lost crap either. Darnold has a poor first few days and not a peep? Why is that? Doesn't fit your agenda? And you are and admitted Philly fan. Can you say Troll?
