  1. He was shocking … he also milked the Covid rules to keep his guaranteed money on the books longer than it should have been…I can’t comment whether it still impacts the roster … obviously not in dollar terms but what they were prevented doing when they had to pay his dead cap…
  2. I love him too… likely to go in the Top 12 … we will be looking up waving him goodbye ,,, Probably … Beane is already looking at their pick at the end of the third to move up 3 or 4 spots …there will be 3 or 4 WR left but there will be one he loves … If he gets it right then all good… but this is one year they could use that third round pick to find another contributor..
  3. Beane wasn’t here for the Mahomes pick … so can’t blame him for that … You can’t also hit Beane over the head because “ he could have got the Josh Allen pick wrong”… he didn’t … and you are surprised they got something of that magnitude correct ? Well … they did … It’s also not very honest to say he has only been right “one time”… he has drafted some good players ….found a few decent guys in FA.. turned around an average ( at best) team he inherited into a top 6 team these past 4 years … Made some absolutely terrible decisions though … signing Star, trading for Benjamin, letting Teller go… Boogie Basham, Ford and Elam…Took a long time to give Josh a functional O Line …and others .. He has a mountain to climb this offseason … got to replace a lot of guys with minimal cap .. and needs to find 3 good playes ( at leastj) in the draft that impact this team in 2024. … they have some good pieces still..( Not just Josh) … so I will give them a chance if he can make the right calls ….. if he doesn’t then next year might be the last year for him and Sean ..
  4. I can’t argue with a lot of what you said here … but the 2018 draft navigation from Beane from pick 21 to 7 ( giving up Glenn and a couple of seconds) to pick Josh Allen ( wrong Josh) will always be a thing of beauty … This alone will get him into the GM Hall of fame .. and will trump his wasted dollars in that years free agency .. Plus in 2018 … he also managed to trade Tyrod Taylor and a cap hit for Pick 65
  5. I won’t go as far as to say no excuses … Beane was determined to pick a CB in Round 1 in 2022 and we saw how that worked out … But there should be 90 percent chance it’s a WR… if not then they need to go Rounds 2 and 3
  6. Yay …a CB in Round 1…(again) … no DTs left I presume …
  7. Ok…I think if it’s one or the other then I would go Douglas .. That third round pick they gave up is not a frivolous investment at this particular time …and they need a better return then half a season… As mentioned , the $9m savings can become $6m with an extension… normally I’m not excited about extending 30 yr old CBs … but I’ll make an exception given his play he showed here … I think Tre could likely be gone …. I have concerns about how he recovered from his first injury …and how long it will take him to get over this one … Douglas And Benford will be the CB starters next year if Douglas is extended …
  8. I really dont know what more he could have done the second half of the season … I’m actually more concerned that his play he showed here will make him want to test the market and he could force his way out if he has visions of getting $12m a year from someone and doesn’t want to agree an extension …they would have to cut him then most likely … Hopefully given his age he signs a new deal this offseason at say 3 years $24m with an out after year 2 if he falls off a cliff … He is likely the CB1 next year … and with all the other issues with this team … they don’t need another one…
  9. Why do think they move on from Douglas ? They just traded a 3rd for him mid season and he was their best CB after he got here … he was disappointing in the playoff loss but he was playing through injury … Extend him and save $6m on his cap hit …it’s really a no brainer for Beane provided Douglas agrees
  10. His hands and Bass’s boot going to get rehabbed
  11. I don’t disagree … but how many picks we got again? That makes 2 receivers, Safety, Edge, DT and maybe C… hope we can find a few on Day 3 …
  12. Depending on his ambitions … he might want to have the responsibility of calling plays to prove himself and not be the second banana …might not be a reflection on McDermott
  13. So he is winning a SB when over 30? Phew … thought he might not win at all,,,
  14. I’ll be watching … I’m a football fan and there are only three games left
  15. He started rookie Tre ( at CB) so it’s not impossible…will need to be a good candidate in the draft…. Necessity will dictate a couple of tough decisions this offseason ..l
  16. You might like these guys … but I will be gobsmacked if they are paying a safety $10m plus a year this particular offseason…. Probably need to get by for 1 year with a combination of Poyer, Day 2 Draft pick, Rapp similar cheap free agent, Hamlin unless a Day 3 pick beats him out …
  17. Hyde has got a neck issue … maybe just better for him to retire … Bills got to move on at some stage … now is as good a time as any,,, I think Poyer might be back … but it’s debatable if his ability still matches his modest contract …
  18. Restructuring is a way to kick more money down the road whilst the player keeps playing for you…it’s what they have done with Diggs and Miller previously which is making it difficult to move on from them when their form dips .. It cost you more money to move on from them then to have them play for you… but eventually you might have to take your medicine and do it so you can move on ..
  19. Its not that its “impossible “ … but impractical as with the Diggs example above ..given past money already paid to these players which they have not put on the salary cap (kicked down the road) … this triggers when the player is traded … so you end up paying more for the player on the 2024 salary cap not to play for you then if he remained on the team
  20. Yeah … I didn’t want them to do it at first … but looks like they realistically don’t have much of a choice if they want at least some room to manoeuvre on the FA market … similar to what they had last year perhaps
  21. So why won’t they do it? it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to swallow a cap hilt of $31 m on top of the $50m they have now for him to play elsewhere … particularly with other WR issues … I think you cross your fingers and hope he returns to early season form in 2024 It’s money they have already paid him for past play that they have kicked down the road … I’m not sure this can be picked up by another team … but why would they choose to ? His future payments only seem overvalued based on his play the past couple of months
  22. I think the hit is too big to overcome this offseason to trade him … Thompsett is saying that they actually need to restructure him again to save additional money to overcome the $50m hole they are in now … they need to also have some surplus to sign bargain basement players to replace the ones they are cutting/leaving ,,,and pay the rookies
  23. tldr … he is good but not good enough
