A couple of guys getting paid to write about the draft have had him going in the first.. even seen one who mocked him to the Bills at 28. … Mel Kiper has him as his No 2 safety … He will be lucky to go in the Top 100 now ..so I expect a bit of quiet reevaluation by some of these guys …

Well.. to be fair .. you had him as the first Safety picked in your mock a couple of weeks back … around 40 odd? Got a feeling we won’t see him in your second though unless you are thinking about a third round?

It’s interesting though that Oliver had a great game against Pittsburgh the previous week … playing with “one armed Jones “ and the rest of the DE .. if Joe B is correct , then the gas tank must have hit empty after that game … I am agreeing with you he needs help in 2024 … it’s obvious considering they have 8 DL as free agents .. Depending what happens in FA … they might even have to put a Top 60 pick somewhere there .. A lot of people don’t seem to be up for that though ..

They will actually “save” money under the 2024 cap by paying Tua… His number at the moment under the 5th year option is $23m… they will get this down by signing him to a deal and kicking it down the road …

Let’s check in again on the D Line situation after FA ….its going to have to be better than what it is now… I see some people making excuses for Oliver wearing a cloak of invisibility in the Chiefs game because he had no DE help… so the Bills better have some plan to upgrade the position beyond not cutting Miller, and a third round pick,,,

Are they really in “cap hell” though? Things might be a bit tight this year … and even in 2025 if they have to move on from both Miller and possibly Diggs .. But come 2026 and the Cap north of $300m they should be fine after a couple of years of belt tightening…

I have only noticed “ void years “ on the Bills salary cap the last 3 years or so.. although it may have been used elsewhere in the League before that ..of course the signing bonus being spread out over the term of the contract has always been around … which is a similar way of spreading out money already paid to the player to future years Im sure the players association loves it , as it’s a way to have the teams spend more money on players than the Salary Cap should allow … In these days when the cap is going up 15 percent a year , I expect it to be a tool used more often…

The dead cap money in 2024 for Floyd is money they paid him last year that they pushed out ( included under their salary cap) to this year … i assume you understand that right? If you look at his figure on the cap in 2023 it is only about $2.5m we know his deal was $7m …so the difference got pushed out to this year … it’s not going to mean anything in respect of his new contract moving forward … It’s just another way to push money ( in accountiing terms) down the road …

I think it’s a gamble they can’t rely on …even if he is back and playing Week 1 … it might take him several weeks to get back to top form…

Is Tre even going to be ready to play Week 1?

We have no idea what Shorter brings to the table … can he be an upgrade on Sherfield’s 11 catches ? it’s not outrageous to suggest he can I think between the high draft pick ( Rounds 1-2) and the FA they can improve on Davis and Harty’s production…this would be the hope anyway … I also want Shakir to get more opportunities and I’m sure they are going to play Knox and Kincaid plenty as well … Room for a guy in the 3rd Round guy as well?

I think Diggs is 99 percent here in 2024…not even worth considering otherwise as they are handcuffed to him … I was referring to you wanting two WR in the top 3 picks … seems a bit of a waste with them wanting to play more 12 and with Shakir and I think they get a cheap guy in FA as well… Take another guy Day 3 sure …

You might want that .. but it’s unlikely to happen…( 2 before end of Round 3)

In respect of Morse … I think they would have already cut him by now if they were going to move on from him … so I suspect he will be back … I really don’t understand what their plan was for Bates … they have paid starter money for him… but don’t value him as one … even when up against a 32 yr old guy … they would rather pay the older guy twice as much money to play.. It’s not even worth trading Bates or cutting him as you couldn’t replace him for the money you save … Maybe they will trade him next year ..unless of course they restructure him again this season…

The difference is that Metcalf has already done it in the NFL … he also went about 40-50 spots lower than what BTJ is expected to go…

Some comments on Douglas age… He is only five months older than Tre with a lot less serious injury baggage He doesnt turn 30 until the Eve of the season …so if he has another two years here then we are talking about his age 30 and 31 years …
