  1. If Allen doesn't start after the bye week on Nov 25, which is almost 4 weeks from now, then his injury is worse than their saying. The reason sitting and watching before being a starter is valuable due mostly on getting players to prepare for games. Having Anderson in there now should help in that regard on how to prepare each week. Playing a few weeks and now getting to watch and see how to prepare for specific defenses will be a huge benefit for Allen. Looking at each play and studying why did this play work and why did this play fail? Right now the only thing I'm worried about is the extent of his injury. Hopefully a few more weeks he's 100%.
  2. Counting preseason, the Bills have used 4 quarterbacks now and all of them have struggled. McCarron in preseason did not look good either. Josh Allen shouldn't have been thrust in as the starter in week 2, but easy to see why he was. A couple weeks here watching the game will help him, but Bills offense and lack of playmakers is going to restrict anyones success. Dak Prescott had much better stats his rookie year than his 2nd year. Jared Goff looked like he could barely throw the ball 20 yards his rookie year and he's looking really good now. Anyone who's been watching the NFL for a long time knows that you simply cannot accurately rate a rookie quarterback based on their first year. Tom Brady played in ONE freaking game his whole rookie year, for only a few plays. Obviously no way to know then how he would end up.
  3. Completely irrelevant which rookie QB looks better, especially after just 4-5 games. Some QB's look very good until teams figure out their weaknesses. And as noted about 500 times here, most successful NFL QB's have had very limited or poor rookie years. The other thing to note is I don't think a any Bills receiver could walk on another NFL team and be a starter.
  4. Bills made huge mistake starting the season with 2 completely inexperienced quarterbacks. But also having just barely NFL capable receivers and an average at best Offensive line - I'm not sure what some of you are expecting. I watched the Denver Broncos with an experienced QB and some of the best relievers in the league, get 2 different first down and goals and have to settle for 2 field goals in loss to Rams. You have to be clicking on all cylinders to succeed in the NFL.
  5. I don't think Allen looked good, but I don't think he looked bad either. I know there's a big lack of yards but it seems from watching that most of the plays called seem to be outside 5 yard pass plays. The OC needs to open the playbook up and let Allen throw it downfield more, and let him make mistakes.
  6. Completely useless to judge an NFL QB in his first year. Not many great QB's looked good as rookies. Elway didn't, Farve didn't even play but a few downs his first year. Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, many others had poor rookie years and great careers. Jared Goff looked terrible 2 years ago - "in Week 11 when Goff finally made his first start: very. He was very unready."
  7. I've watched many NFL games where the offense couldn't do anything, and its up to the defense to try and keep them in the game. The Defense would not have kept them in this game regardless but giving up 47 points is the opposite of stepping up.
  8. I'm primarily a Wyoming and Josh Allen fan, and I was happy the Bills took Allen in the first round. I really didn't expect Allen to be a starter for at least half a season. But after seeing the Bills play I think they should have signed a seasoned QB instead and not a 2nd year rookie and a non seasoned backup like they did. Allen is a raw rookie quarterback and he doesn't have a proven qb to learn from. I hope he survives his first year.
  9. Congrats to the Bills! You guys got a great player in Josh Allen. The tough thing now is you won't know just how good he will be for another year or two. But I think its a great situation for the Bills and Josh Allen.
  10. My opinion is any rookie QB should sit at the very least half the first season before starting. Let them learn the offense and watch game films for a couple months.
  11. so for all those who are so enamored with college completion percentage.... 2 guys who had great college completion % are Kellen Moore and Tim Tebow. I think both guys are available! Kellen Moore was phenomenal in college, over 70%. John Elway completion % in college was 58% his Jr year and 64% his Sr year, but his overall NFL completion % was 57% Brett Farve completion % in college was just over 54% his Jr & Sr years, but his overall NFL completion % was 62% Trying to say either Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield's college completion percentage will determine their NFL success, is completely ridiculous.
  12. Wyoming had run the ball successfully the previous 2 years and coach Bohl's philosophy is to run the ball. Even though they weren't successful they still attempted to run the ball. What actually resulted is Allen was often left with a lot of 3rd down and longs. In the NFL, QB's completion percentages for 3rd and long is in the 30's% completion. As we all know its much more difficult to beat a defense on 3rd down and long than almost any other down. The offensive line and receivers Wyoming had this year also limited what plays they could run. Offensively, Allen was the only weapon they had and teams played him accordingly.
