  1. OK, let me say from the outset that I did not think Marv was necessarily a good choice to run this team. Sure, the teams he coached (filled with Pro Bowlers and HOF'ers) went to the SB 4 times. But I never knew Marv to have a big role in selecting those players, so I wondered how his coaching career qualified him to be a GM? Around the NFL, coaching is not generally known to be a training ground for GM's (which tells me something). In fact, off the top of my head I can't think of any GM's who were coaches earlier in their careers - can you? Presently, Marv is essentially untouchable in Buffalo, that much is clear. In Buffalo, if you have a bad word for Marv (whether he deserves it or not) you are perceived to be disrespecting the Bills teams of the 90's - kind of like being the NFL's version of a flag burner. Yet as the losses pile up, the blame game will inevitably start and everyone (yes, maybe even Marv someday) will be subject to criticism. I fully expect that Marv will be given a pass this year. Folks will say that he simply inherited Donahoe's team and that all he could do was tinker at the margins. This is despite the fact that he left about $7 million in unspent cap money on the table - not that we have any needs or anything. Not sure why fans who are so desperate for wins routinely ignore this fact....oh wait, yes I do know, it's the premise behind this post. Anyway, on to the main point of discussion - let's say our string of 4-5 win seasons continues for another 5-6 years. At what point (if any) would you hold Marv accountable for the fortunes of this team?
  2. Doesn't the defense have a role in winning ball games?
  3. I agree that JP will be fine. I like him and he is getting better. As for Butler, the guy looks small and is listed at 292. He's probably really 285. Pennington is about 315 and more physically suited to the position in today's game.
  4. Exactly. TD's players are starting to come into their own. But his coaching selections and OL development was his undoing.
  5. How could anyone NOT notice? I think it's the scheme that allows the lighter, faster DL's to excel. Who would've thought? Another TD pick.
  6. Did your computer lock up or something? Where's the rest of the stream of consciousness?
  7. Usually this is NOT good news.
  8. The kid is good, and I knew he would be. I will say it now, and for those who don't like JP (for watever bizarre reasons), too bad: WE HAVE FOUND OUR QUARTERBACK.
  9. I love it - we get this gem from Hillary's spokesperson: Sen. Clinton "has been wanting to go to a Bills game for quite some time," said spokeswoman Jennifer Hanley. How dumb do they really think we are? Is there anybody on the planet that actually believes this? The big question, will she wear red and blue face paint for the photo op?
  10. Agree, except I'm not sure what a "seldom few" are.
  11. Isn't that a given?
  12. The radio and DirecTV feed never used to be so far off as they were last week (several minutes for me). Strange.
  13. Well said. TV is full of character and devoid of any desire. A fine young man, but it's time for him to wear a tie full time.
  14. I don't really care as long as TV stays off the field.
  15. I agree 100%. How does 1 play get you the player of the week?
  16. I know you were being sarcastic, but it bears noting that statistically, JP is doing just fine. In fact, his stats may actually make him look better than he's played. NFL.com has JP's passer rating as 12th overall in the NFL, ahead of Tom Brady.

  18. WORST.........UNIFORMS...............EVER
  19. OK, let me get this straight. When Lindell, Denney, JP, Evans, Kelsay, TKO, Clements, McGee, McGahee and Reed play well, MARV deserves the credit? Nice revisionist history.
  20. It works even better when you let a role player develop.
  21. And who stuck by Lindell when folks wanted to run him out of town?
