  1. I think Moore might be the best wr in the draft. It is a good draft for slot receivers but he is one of the few guys who checks every box AND can go up and get it. I like Charm and Equaninous Brown too ... but they seem more like projects.
  2. The Eagles won the Superbowl including most of the 2nd half of last season, the playoffs, and the Super bowl .... with Nick Foles ... hardly an elite QB. .... and none of Tom Brady, Case Keenum, oe Matt Ryan proved to be equalizers. Teams win championships .... not individual players.
  3. I think OJ needs to be on this list .. and is probably the hands down winner. he divided almost a whole country along race lines.
  4. The difference in this year's draft is that there is no clear cut #1 choice. you can take the top 5 and pull a name of out of a hat and make an argument for why should be #1. You do NOT give the farm away in a trade trade up in this scenario. This is a good QB draft in that it is DEEP ... but it is NOT top heavy. There are 5 QB prospects that might have big futures and two or three others that might have a shot at being decent starters some day. There is nobody to trade up for ... There is no Wentz or Goff in this draft. I think we might need to move into the top 8, but there is no need to overpay for #2. This is fools Gold.
  5. I agree that QBs on this board are being extremely overhyped and I hope we don't get silly like in trading up with Giants. That said, given that we gave up Cody Gn to move up from 12, I don't see us trading back town. either we will draft a QB that we like assuming he falls to us ... or we get BPA.
  6. I just don't see Browns drafting Allen .... they are very much under fire for not getting a top QB in recent years. There is no way they will Gamble with such a risky pick like Allen. This is a smokescreen .... likely being perpetuated by the Giants trying inflate the value of their #2. Browns will play it safe ... rightly or wrongly Darnold seems to be the consensus #1 and Browns cannot afford to play it to clever there.
  7. Lived in Northeast Ohio for a number of years and adopted the Browns as my 2nd team and caught quite a few games live in the Bernie Kosar Era .... was there when Belichick was there and ran Kosar out of town for Vinnie Testaverde .... and Was there for the heartbreak and outrage when a scheming Art Model took the team to Baltimore. Hope Bills fans never have to experience that ... it was awful. Belichick was much hated back then as Modells "yes man" and for running fan favorite Kosar out of town. So my hated of BB predates his success in New England. I can also say he was certainly not looking like a genius with Testaverde as his QB. The two teams, have a similar ethos ... as do the two cities IMHO. We have our superbowl losses and music city miracle .... the Browns have a long history of playoff tragedies ... most notably "the fumble" .... the Browns equivalent of "wide right". I will always root for the Browns as long as it does not conflict with Bills' interests. Bills and Browns Now THAT is football purgatory. Celtics and Mets for other sports.
  8. Obviously it is too early to tell, but I predict we will be some place around 5-11 or 6-10. Nothing against A,J, he will open the passing game bit, but I see him as not being strong armed and could likely be turnover prone. Turnover differential (TD) was our biggest advantage last year, the rest of our statS were rather abysmal. Say what you want about Tyrol but he protected the football. Take (TD) away and we lose a lot more games. Add to that we have holes all over our roster and no depth at our most productive position (RB). I don't mean to sound negative but I think 2018 is a step back year, 2019 we will see better the vision for team, and if all goes well, serious contender by 2020. Thus, this is the perfect time to draft a QB for development .... one with a high ceiling. I prefer Darnold but that is unlikely to happen. so I hope we rake a high ceiling guy like J. Allen or Lamar Jackson ...we do 't need NFL ready ... that is what AJ is for.
  9. Meh, I could, reluctantly give up 4 picks this year, but no way I am sabotaging next year's draft as well. I have a feeling we will take a step back this year before having the roster shaped to take big steps forward. A 6-10 or even 5-11 season is possible ... which means picks being in the top 10 of the round. There are no surefire stars this year and the difference between the 2nd and 5th ranked QBS this year is minimal. Even if we has #2 there is nothing close to a consensus as to who the QB should be. I would vote Rosen but he carries a lot of injury risk. Why overpay for #2 when you can likely get the same quality in picks #4 to #8? Risking one draft on a speculative franchise QB might make some sense .... but no way should we be trashing next year's draft as well. Overpaying for #2 is my sngle biggest fear.
  10. Cannot believe anyone supporting the Bills would want such a deal at that price.
  11. Actually this was a well though out and coherent post. You took a POV and made a solid rational argument with it which might cause people to think about the topic of Black qbs in a different way. I agree with the points you make specifically about the NBA and MLB being much sounder career choices for athletes in terms of probability of success, compensation, health and career longevity. I would add to your argument that for a failed NBA wannabe .... there are numerous other markets in Europe and Asia, where one can go and have a very prosperous career. With failed NFL wannabes ... it is pretty much CFL, coaching or go sell tvs at best buy. For anyone talented to enough to choose between a pro football career or a pro basketball career, basketball is a much sounder choice career wise. Tight end is also a position where whites (marginally) outnumber blacks ... and the size and athletic traits for that position closely resemble those of basketball forwards, so it is an interesting perspective. The issue I have with your post, is that it seems to be trying to answer something without being clear about what actual question is being answered. If it is an attempt to explain why 4/6 NFL players are black but only 1/6 of of starting QBS are black then your thoughts could possibly explain some of that disparity. However, I am not sure anyone believes there is any conspiracy to keep black QBS out of the NFL. As several pointed out on the thread where I mentioned race in the Lamar/Tyrod context, most people will support anyone if he can lead to a super bowl. Usama bin Laden III from Riyadh university could be cheered on if he was super bowl mvp. There are many reasons for blacks being under-represented at QB ... the reasons you allude to, economic reasons (as another poster on this thread mentioned) as well as coaching and development issues. At the HS or college level, If a coach has a player with Peyton Manning passing potential, but can also run a 4.3 40, there is a high likelihood the coach will make the QB a running QB and maybe not spend as much time on development as a passer. This is not "racist" on the part of the coach ... coaches are paid to win, and if option based offenses are seen as the best path to victory at that level (hs or college)that is what they will use even if it hinders the development of the qb overall. Where I do think black qbs are disadvantaged is when it comes to lazy stereotyping ... many people judge all qbs who can run as being similar to each other (the Lamar Jackson is the next rg3 syndrom) but are more willing to get into the nuanced differences when it comes to "pocket passers". I also think some fan bases have less patience with a struggling QB who is from a different race than with one with whom they can more easily identify with. people will support a champion no matter what color he is ... the real test comes with a player who is struggling. I remember the frustration with Fitzpatrick here, but I don't recall anywhere near the vitriol compared to what Tyrod (a superior QB) endured here. Finally it is worth mentioning market forces and so called "desired target audiences". I lived in Cleveland for a while in the early 90s .... Almost all the local endorsement and sponsorship deals went to Mark Price and Craig Ehlo, while guys like Larry Nance, Brad Daugherty, and Hot Rod Williams could get almost nothing. There is nothing particularly racist about Cleveland (a city I find similar to Buffalo)but with many advertisers "white" sells better than "black" outside of the shoe sector. True superstars like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and others) can transcend this barrier, but in some markets mid tier players cannot. It is not race hate, but it is race based. It is not totally uneasonable to believe that a black QB ... playing a positionthat is generally considered as being the face of the franchise ... gets a shorter rope from management and fans alike, unless he is playing at an All Pro level.
  12. Had dinner with Gronk last night. Apparently he and Belichick are both leaving the Pats and joining the WWE ....some sort of stunt where BB plays a Paul Heyman role with Gronk in a Lesnar like role combined with the old hacksaw Jim Duggan role. cena will go heel and it will be revealed he has been an illegal Mexican immigrant his whole career and will become Gronk's main rival. They will be known as Patriot Nation and maybe will brink Jack Swagger back too. In negotiations for a surprise wrestle mania match with BB going up against Ronda Rouse. That one not confirmed yet. I will be sure to let you know when the contract is signed. And in case I really need to say it ..... April Fools
  13. Hmm ... had to Google Clayton Bigsby .... Dave Chapelle put out a lot of stuff that would never fly today. have to admit it made me laugh.
  14. Guilty of being a Newbie here. Hopefully that does not mean Guantanamo is in my future.
  15. You could well be right, but I did not process those comments as incriminating of drug use. They could be dissapointed in any number of things (e.g., a domestic dispute That set him off somehow). Synt weed does sound like the most plausible explanation though.
  16. While I appreciate your efforts to bring some nuance and sanity to the race part of this discussion ... I don't think there are that many people trying to shut it down .. just 3 or 4 zealots (including one or two likely sockpuppets) doing whatever they can to kill the thread. I suspect that the majority of people don't want to get involved in such a discussion because any topic that touches on race or politics is just too exhausting. it is sad in some ways, but also fully understandable in today's climate. It is quite toxic environment, regardless of where one stands on political or race issues. As a friend back in the states told me last week .. you just cannot talk to anyone about anything meaningful these days if there is a chance they disagree with you. All in all, trolls aside, there has been some good discussion on this thread and a lot of good posters have posted here. It is interesting in some ways to see the tactics themselves. There is nothing wrong with making an argument that race is zero-factor in NFL and saying "here is why". One can disagree with that argument but at least it is an argument ... hopefully supported by facts and logic. Instead, what we have seen here .... one lies about what his opponent is saying (as a baiting tactic designed to spark a mudslinging contest) and then whines when nobody wants to engage him further, another just says "go away", another is convinced that everyone who disagrees with him is "the same poster", and another comes in and makes explicitly racist comments about blacks ... designed to inflame and get the thread closed. The goal is the same ... make it angry, personal, and inflammatory ... so it gets the thread shut down. It would be comical, if not so sad. Anyway, it is the Internet and trolls are best left unfed and better to focus on the more positive or at least thoughtful posts many have made here. That is a fair point, although I have never seen anything tangible that that would reflect poorly on his work effort. Most of it seems personality related ... fairly or unfairly. Thanks on the heads up on the New Zealand poster ... still probably a 10 tom12 hour flight from here ... but lots of kiwis here.
  17. Yes ... and if you are looking for a franchise QB you have to gamble on upside ... not jus play it safe, Drafting a QB who winds up a top 15 QB is not necessarily a win ... just a marginal improvement over what we had. Ideally you want someone who grows into a top 5 QB. That is why I like Lamar. I like Allen too but he seems to be the most flustered under pressure of any of the top 5. Still love his upside.
  18. I wish him all the best and hope he can restore his career ASAP after getting his personal life together. Still not clear to me if any chemicals were involved, or it was just a case of some family genetics and stress catching up with him. Either way, something like that has to be a wake up call and push him to get whatever help he needs.
  19. I have seen him projected anywhere from 2nd round to 7th round. I IIRC his combine was OK .. can he catch the ball? don't know much about him and have not spent much time researching WRS yet.
  20. As I mentioned to another poster ... other than the Internet in general I rely on NFL game pass international. $200 or so annual subscription gets you all games preseason and post season, draft, combine, NFL Channel etc. Pretty good deal. With a 12 hour time difference I usually watch all the night games over breakfast. As to Bills game, I watch them live when I can hack staying up all night .... or I watch VOD before checking scores when I get up in morning.
  21. As much as I have been on the Lamar Jackson bandwagon, I think Allen is a very solid prospect. I would be happy to get him as long as it does not mean trading up to #2 or something. As others have speculated, I think he goes top 5 anyway. I think realistically we are looking at Mayfield or Lamar. As much as I like Lamar, my gut feel is we will get Mayfield in a trade uo for #4, #5, #7 or #8.
  22. As elsewhere around the world, the locals (other than the wealthy property owners) get very little benefit from Chinese investment. They tend to bring in their own labor for much of the construction so not that many jobs are created and they make little effort to engage with local communities. Access to coastline is privatized meaning many can no longer easily access any beach. Paid for by Chinese, made by Chinese, and made for Chinese as the casinos target Chinese mainlanders who cannot Gamble inside China, and thus take Gambling oriented holidays. A Khmer (indigenous Cambodian) friend of mine mentioned he now could not even find a decent lunch spot on the coast anymore as all the restaurants cater to Chinese only and lack Khmer speaking staff and Khmer food The price of progress I guess. I will hit your new thread if I see it.
  23. I think they will draft another cb in round two or three. It is not a bad draft for CBS.
  24. Consistently trying to put words in people's mouth under the guise of "analysis" is not only an ugly tactic, it suggests you do not really understand what analysis means. I will leave it that that. Not much into forum bickering, which seems to have been your "contribution" to this thread from the start.
  25. Yea, I hate the Cowboys too .... almost as much as the Patriots, and that is hard to do. Dak will be OK, but not elite as everyone his rookie year tried to make him. I would not mind him in Buffalo too. Never been a huge Dez fan though. Immense talent when he feels like it, but that is not often enough. You are right about his limited route tree too.
