  1. The Rosen kool-aid must be laced with something tonight lol And to think I like him as a prospect ..... but some of you guys are acting like is the next Brady or Manning or something.
  2. The point is, I would spend a top 10 pick on him ... but no way would I trade 12,22,2 second rounders and next year's first for a QB with an, average arm, below average athleticism, durability issues, and character concerns (although I do think these are overblown).
  3. He is a good prospect .... footwork, accuracy etc .... I would love to take a flier on him. but you cannot ignore the red flags either ... I am most bothered by his durability concerns, combined with his inability to "escape" in the pocket . Even if you ignore the supposed character issues (which I do think are overblown) , you cannot ignore that he lacks elite arm strength, is a bit frail, and has a history of injuries (including concussions). Still worth a first round pick? Absolutely. Worth two years worth of top picks? No way.
  4. Need to work on OL Austin Corbett an easy choice here at #53. Ragnow 2nd. Can get wr later
  5. I like Rosen well enough. I only worry about his lack of mobility and evasive Ness in the pocket. However you do not trade two drafts away for the next Trent Green: (from NFL. Com) .... Sources Tell Us "He wasn't the guy everyone rallied around in college and you don't have to dig around for too long to find people who said he was hard to coach. He's definitely talented. Nobody questions that. But he's going to have to get grown men to buy into him as their leader. That is not a given." -- NFL Executive NFL Comparison Trent Green Bottom Line Josh Rosen's footwork and mechanics make him as pretty a quarterback as you will find in this year's draft. The biggest concern with Rosen is that his on-field success requires many elements to stay on schedule. He lacks plus arm strength, so identifying coverage (pre- and post-snap) and throwing with anticipation takes on added importance. Rosen has the pocket poise, accuracy and intelligence to become a good NFL starter, but he needs to be willing to take what defenses give him more frequently. Rosen will need to quell concerns surrounding leadership and coachability early on in order to establish a strong first impression and get his career off on the right foot.
  6. Under no circumstances should we be giving up picks in 2019. We are rebuilding this year and could wind up a bottom 10 team ... which would top 10 picks next year. If we can get away with dealing picks only from this year's draft, I am more open to trading up. The only QB worth moving into the top 5 for, MIGHT be Darnold. So many here think only in terms of draft position as if being the #2 pick automatically makes the guy a franchise QB. Is Rosen (or Allen) REALLY worth #12, #22, our 2 second rounders AND next year's #1??? Insanity. It is not like we are trading up for Wentz. It is THE PLAYER that matters, not the draft position.
  7. Yes. Heard the Patriots are going to jump on Hackenberg, so that they can block us. 《Sarc》
  8. Catching balls from Brady as his slot wr is a great way to rescue a declining career.
  9. To me Allen looks like a good "raw material" prospects to that would be a good speculative pick at 1/22, and a bit of a reach at 1/12. I cannot imagine him being a top 3 pick ... at some point you have to consider the numbers and tape, no matter all the narrative around them.
  10. Fair point, but both have deep ball accuracy and touch and could thrive in a vertical type of offense, it is possible to throw a good deep ball and not have the strongest arm in the world.
  11. That's not fair ... Lamar has never been associated with "Purple Drank" as Russell was. Also Russell's playing weight want over 290 lbs (damn munchies) while most people complain Lamar is too thin.
  12. Unfortunately, there is no evidence that the Bills even remotely interested in LJ.. I just hope they do not trade away the farm for a qb that is inferior or even subpar to LJ.
  13. Fair comment. it is a bit hard to match all comparisons perfectly .... there are so many variables. Rosen's good tape reminds me a lot of Phil Rivers on a good day. I guess where I am going with the Pennington comparison is his high accuracy but also lack of mobility and how it lead to injuries derailing his career. He also feuded with the media a lot in NYC ... which if reports about Rosen's outspoken attitude is true, could also be a basis of comparison.
  14. I am admittedly a big fan of LJ .... but you make a valid point with the McNair comparison, I think I will adjust it.
  15. I had the ladies @ 3:2 for Thug Rose but was concerned thar it might swing 2:3 as round 2 was quite close. Was surprised at the 4:1 scores ... but happy as I like rose and dislike jj. I guess it comes down to how much the judges value leg kick (in this case apparently not too much) ... rose had the left hook working all fight. As to MacDucker, he needs to worry about going to jail first ... then we will see if he has the cajones to fight Khabib. most likely he will duck again and seek out a 3rd fight against nate. not the manliest of choices, but a much easier payday and still marketable.
  16. This is a revision of some preliminary thoughts I had on another thread, Tries to put things into context, which is useful when we are talking about mortgaging entire drafts. My rankings: 1) Sam D'Arnold Floor: J Cutler Ceiling: Eli Manning Most likely equivalent: B Bortles (with better intangibles) Comment: Concerns about ball protection but looks like sure fire pro 2) Lamar Jackson Floor: V Young Ceiling: S Young Most likely equivalent: S McNair+ Comments: Highest (likely to reach) upside in draft. Needs to overcome stereotypes and early poor choices in career management. 3)Josh Rosen: Floor: Chad Pennigton Ceiling: Phil Rivers Most likely Equivalent: Sam Bradford Comment: Most sure thing in draft but durability a major concern. 4) Josh Allen Floor: C Hackenburg Ceiling: B Rothlisberger Most Likely Equivalent J Flacco Comment: Riskiest choice in terms of bust potential, but tools to be an NFL star 5) Mason Rudolph Floor: B Weeden Ceiiling: Matt Stafford Most Likely Equivalent: Dak Prescott Comment:: Overlooked prospect. 6) Baker Mayfield Floor: Johnny Manziel Ceiling: D Brees Most Likely Equivalent: Case Keenum Comment: Has upside, but concerns over size and desire for celebrity status overshadow productivity and "swag" 7) K Lauletta Floor: Standard Backup with not enough arm to hold NFL starter job (high quality career back up) Ceiling: M Ryan Most Likely Equivalent: M Schaub+ Comment: Most accurate passer in draft. if only he had enough arm strength.
  17. Khabbi could afford to play a bit against Iaquinta. It seems he wanted to prove he could go 5 rounds and also prove he could hold his own in stand up against a qualified striker. He did both. Against McDucker, Khabib will drag him down and poor old Conor will tap out within a minute. The dude has no heart as shown in the first Diaz fight where he started looking for a way out when Diaz started busting him up in stand up. All in all, it turned out to be a pretty good fight card ... the ladies brought it and some unknown guys like Bochniak put on good shows even in defeat. Respect to IaQuinta for a gutsy showing .... Lauzon needs to hang them up though.
  18. Voted Isaiah Wynnn ... let's rebuild offensive line. Plenty of DTS in draft ... can get in 3rd or 4th
  19. I never even thought he was that great of a fighter. Good Power and timing, but little else. Knocking out Aldo was ver impressive (perhaps lucky punch but still) .... the rest of his fights have been carefully selected ... Denis Siver hyped up as contender, which we was not. An out of shape Mendes on short notice), Nate Diaz sells sue to his personality... but is only average as a UFC fighter. A very overrated Eddie Alvararez .... if he ever got in the ring with Khabib, woodley, even dos anjos he would be exposed very wuickly. Too bad about UFC 223.... Pettis vs Khabib will be a total mismatch. Pettis cannot wrestle at all .... and as soon as he throws one of his kicks at Khabibulin, he is getting taken down. Edit. Apparently changed again to raging AL I a Quinta.
  20. I come from an Irish heritage myself, and I think MacDucker is a total douchebag, as well as highly overrated as a fighter. Certainly not representative of what my grandparents taught me what "being Irish" was about.
  21. Never lived in Buffalo, but grew up in upstate NY and spent my first 25 years there. It will always be a part of me, and I miss the climate, natural beauty, and down to earth culture. That said, even as a brash 25 year old in the 80s, the hand writing was on the wall as to how bleak the future of the entirety of Upstate NY was.economically Given how the demographics of the NYC metro totally dominate the state ... it is almost like upstate NY has no representation, despite the ridiculous taxation. I once owned several nice properties on the Saint Lawrence which i hoped to keep as summer homes..... but had to sell simply due to the ridiculous taxes. Once you move overseas, you get a totally different perspective on how badly Americans get screwed by their politicians and big business. Now, looking back no, but Bills still a part of my roots. Look forward to visiting again soon at least one more summer.
  22. Did what he was supposed to do ... as did the reader who notified him. Not heroic, but a good example of getting involved and possibly stopping something horrible from happening.
  23. Not a first rounder ... but Shaq Griffin .... the lb with a missing hand would be a great pick. Supposedly will go in round 4. immense talent, great story, and fantastic character. Nothing to dislike.
  24. Hmm .... I thought the Bills had such a visionary ... his name was Rex Ryan and it was called Bully Ball.. Just messing with you hehe ....but I did appreciate how Anthony Lynn designed an offence that was productive, with below average talent at QB. There was a fair amount of Genius in his offense, and Shady's performance brought me back to the 90s in a good way ... somewhat reminiscent of Marshall Faulk.. I used to love watching bruisers like Earl Campbell, Christian (The Nigerian Nightmare) Okoye, and Jerome (The Battering Ram) Bettis... where do you see RB Nicknames like that any more? The days when men were men and sheep were nervous ... no sissy wr screens then hehehe Anyway I Agree with your sentiments, I miss the old NFL. Unfortunately the league believes bigger passing plays equates to higher TV ratings, so the game has gone there rule wise. The reality is, with the current rule set, it is inevitable that at some point you will need to play catch up .... and 3 yard and a cloud of dust does not wok then. Except in madden .... where visionary me ... puts in a run heavy offense and old school Tampa 2 defense ... and rocks the madden world.
  25. We definitely need a WR ... perhaps even in 1st 2 rounds. Daboll should have a good read on Ridley, and Chark and DJ Moore would be a good fit. As to midround picks, the name DeSean Hamilton (PSU) has been associated with Bills. Equanamious Brown (ND) is an interesting idea too but his value seems to be all over the place. I don't see the Bills being interested in Callaway at all ...implicated in a rape case, credit card fraud, multiple failed drug tests. He has all the talent in the world but s#@t for brains. Reportedly, despite all these red flags he still showed up at his pro day out of shape.. If the Bills want to replace Tate in the return game, they might get it while adding depth at cb. Mike Hughes (UCF), DJ Reed (KSU), and Darius Phillips (WMU) all excel as returners. Some WR returners that might be avaliable in the 7th or UDFAS are Ray Ray Mcloud (Clemson) and Quadree Henderson (Pittsburgh) who is only 5'8" but a highlight film on returns.
