  1. THIS more than anything else has me questioning the competence of the front office.
  2. Not as bad as Peterman --- and he was an experienced guy who can absorb snaps
  3. Well you certainly are missing my point. You do not force feed playing time to a young player that by most accounts is not ready yet. Even if he were ready he needs teammates who can block for him and catch for him. The Bills OL and WR corps are a mess now. Spotting Allen a few games here and there and in situations where he might have a chance to succeed might be a good idea for his development. Throwing him to the wolves like this simply we because the FO failed to plan properly and put their eggs in the Peterman basket is a recipe for disaster. Look up the wrecked careers of 2QBs thrown to the wolves in similar circumstance: Couch, Tim ... Cleveland Browns Carr, David ... Houston Texans
  4. I think you are missing the point. McCarron was nothing special, but he was cheap insurance as an absorber of snaps so that we did not have to throw Allen to the wolves before he ... and the talent around him were ready. Instead the FO went on their ""Ïn Peterman we trust"" mindset and it predictably went about as well as last years experiment. Meanwhile we gave away a good candidate to absorb snaps for pennies on the dollar .... one that we had just given 4 million dollars to in guaranteed money to. THAT is incompetent. Even the historically hapless Cleveland Browns have learned that you play a developmental (Hopefuly franchise) QB --- when he is READY to play and has a supporting cast around him that can at least grow with him --- not because of fan pressure or desperation (not having alternatives) You know things are bad when you look incompetent in comparison to the browns. That is just frightening and made all the worse by trading away the only non-rookie alternative to peterman. We all tired of the Rex circus rather quickly, but now we have gone in an extreme opposite direction. It seems their is no transparency in decision making anyplace in the organization. Without any transparency there is no accountability. Mumbled comments about "processes"and "reviewing tape" do little to help matters and come across as arrogant and contemptuous of both fans and media. When your team mails in a stinker like last week, more is needed.
  5. Looks like Allen is starting ... ready or not .... because our management incompetently gave away our only other alternative. Let the official derailing of this kids career begin. No blockers. No Receivers. Few who really give a damn. The good news is that Bosa looks to be out so the over under on how many times Allen gets sacked is down to 5. lol. Yuck. We can only hope and pray for the best --- that is what happens when management fails to create contingency plans.
  6. Agreed. At some point there has to be some accountability for the lack of on field performance by the OL. Not only performance but just simple basic effort. During Q4 of the game there was a hit on Allen and at least 3 or 4 Ravens around Allen Jawing in his ear. Where were his teammates on the line? Picking themselves up or staring forlornly at their shoes. They not only sucked --- they quit. Unacceptable.
  7. uggghhh --- is that cap hit or out of pocket? its a 5th rounder? for some reason I remember a 4th rounder It just gets worse.
  8. Both Richie AND the team lost. Think what you will of Richie's off field persona he was an absolute beast on the field. Richie strikes me as a guy who needs the NFL and football to keep his life and emotions together. The Bills threw silly money at guys like lotulei and Murphy this year, yet low balled Richie when he already had one of the best value contracts in the NFL when you considered his performance over the past few years. Richie, probably understood how much he needs football to keep his life together and accepted originally before understanding how much $$$ was going elsewhere. Understandably pissed he protested and McDermott did his "My Way" thing leaving Richie out of the league and starting a predictable downward spiral. Richie has his issues but the way the Bills handled his contract was classless. Meanwhile we take on and throw away 3.5 million $$$ for two weeks of Corey Coleman. The epitome of Organizational Incompetence.
  9. With our cap situation this year and the unexpected demise of both Wood and Incognito, I expected us to regress this year. We over achieved last year and I can accept a bad year this year. Your point is 100% spot on in that what matters is Josh Allen's health and development. A competent organization would center their offense on the development of Allen this year --- which most likely would mean some bench time and carefully managed relief opportunities and maybe some spot starts late in the year. Instead we have not even finished NFL week 1 yet and are in a position of HAVING to throw Allen to the wolves simply because we have nobody even remotely credible we can start in his place. The same people braying about just throw him into deep water and seeing if he can swim are likely the same people who will be braying post season about what a wasted pick he was because because he got sacked 60 times and only had a 50% completion rate (because he had no time to throw). Even Allen's supporters mostly agreed he was a developmental prospect and not NFL ready. He needs a competent OL and some motivated WRs to develop at all if playing. We needed someone to absorb snaps while he learned. We put all our eggs in the leaking basket of Nate Peterman instead, with no further contingencies.
  10. Nope. I have been more or less supportive of the new regime. Trading away McCarron was pure idiocy and prove they have no clue as to creating a contingency plan so that you can spot start your QB prospect rather than just be forced to throw him to the wolves. Utter incompetence.
  11. Until he gets sacked 7 times a game and becomes yet another gun shy ''one time'' prospect littering the trashbin of QB history because his team is too incompetent to even see the need for a 3rd QB or vet mentor.
  12. Peterman's last game with the bills was 18 hours ago and we lost by 44 points. Looks like a two touchdown improvement to me. ?
  13. We need a one year starter to absorb Snaps until we can create a better situation for Allen Next year. A one year starter return would be exactly what Kaep needs to get back in the league and would give the Bills time and flexibility to spot Allen in places he can succeed. I would be all in on Kaep but the F/O wankers would never court such "controversy"as offending some right wingers. We need to get someone though. Preferably someone who can run for their lives
  14. I am more or less sold on Josh Allen. He still has lots of work to do but I have seen enough to have confidence that in the right situation he should be a competent NFL quarterback with at least some chance of being special. Note the emphasis on "right situation". What does this mean? 1) Proper coaching and scheme to get the most out of the QB and develop his confidence. 2) Functionally competent offensive line 3) Receivers who can adapt and make plays for the rookie. I am open to Daboll and willing to defer judgement. He does not have much to work with. The OL and WR stable are total disasters and it is not hyperbole to say that. This is not a "right situation" it is a very wrong situation to throw a rookie potential franchise QB into. Good organizations PLAN for these contingencies. Early on I thought the Bills were showing signs of competent planning by bringing in a low cost short term solution to absorb snaps in AJ McCarron. Don't get me wrong, I am no big fan of AJ who obviously has his limitations, but between he and Peterman we had at least two guys who we thought could absorb enough snaps until the environment around Josh improved. Instead we went el-CHEAPO and dealt AJ's contract away for a mid-round pick (we already have 9 or 10 picks next year). We put our our entire faith and trust in .... drum roll ..... Nate Peterman ... who is like a deer lost in the headlights under pressure. We do not even keep a 3rd QB on the roster. This it utter organizational incompetence. Who is responsible? The Pegulas wanting to move salary? Beane and his fixation on another mid round pick? McDermmot for his Bromance infatuation with Peterman? I don't know. All I know is we cannot keep throwing Peterman out there and are thus left having painted ourselves into a corner of more or less HAVING to start Allen. A 7th overall pick is an investment at QB that requires proper management and early on protection of both his physical well being as well as his confidence and mental development. Instead we will watch him constantly have to run for his life and watching the occasional accurate pass bounce of his WR's beer belly. Welcome to the world of ruined QB prospects ... Tim "Concussion" Couch and David ""Concussion" Carr. It is too bad, I think Josh is a gamer but this league will run you down quickly when the people in charge of your career fail to adequately plan for contingencies. I am sure that extra 4th rounder will make all the difference in the world as we wonder if a banged up and damaged Allen can recover next year after a year of abuse no rookie QB should endure. The OL and WR corp probably are not fixable this year but at the very least --- GO GET A FUNCTIONAL VET QB WHO CAN ABSORB SNAPS THIS YEAR AND REDUCE THE DAMAGE ALLEN HAS TO TAKE!
  15. I think that the Jets are doing great by taking a leadership position on this. hopefully the politicians efforts help the Pegulas open their eyes. America has become far too militarized. A country that forces people to stand during the national anthem is not a free country. Hell, before 911 players were not even on the field during the national anthem ... this only happened when the neoconservatives hijacked 911 for their own nefarious aims. Too many Americans today care too much about the supposed symbols of freedom and not enough about the actual values that help define freedom. Try living overseas in countries where saying the wrong things can get you killed, imprisoned, life ruined through libel lawsuits, or simply deported if you are an immigrant ... and maybe you will better understand the slippery slope of authoritarianism we are already sliding on.
  16. No. My hatred of the Patriots does not affect my feelings about other Boston teams at all. In fact, the only two teams I really care about are my beloved Bills and Celtics. Then again I am originally from upstate New York but not Buffalo so team loyalties were widely split between New York Teams, Boston Teams and even a mix of Pittsburgh and Canadian teams. To be honest I respected the Patriots in the days of Steve Grogan and Russ Francis. I only really started to hate the Patriots when the Bill Belicheat -Shady Brady Era started. Back in the day I hated the Jets more along with my lifetime hatred of the Dallas Cowboys. Go Celtics in game 7.
  17. Any thoughts on Pennington's attempt at quitting. In 20/20 hindsight I thought her corner did her a favor. Her will had been broken but she was not injured ...just looking to get out of a frustrating situation of getting pummeled by a friend. originally though I was surprised that they resisted her attempt. Most times corners should listen to fighters. The fight was awful, as was 99% of the card. congrats to Machias though. gastlenum and Souza looked like a bum fight by midway through the 2nd round. I have wanted to get on to the gastlenum hype train for a while but he keeps showing up overweight or out of shape. neither fighter was in shape to go much more than a round .. just not acceptable by fighters of ufc standards. Felt like a money grab. as did the entire card. Moving on to this week's card, I have a ton of respect for Damien Maia ...one of my all time favorites. But watching himtry tto fight anyone with good takedown defense is just painful to watch. A 40 year old man lunging at air all night. it is probably too late to fix that weakness now, and his striking ... never explosive to begin with ... has deteriorated as well. Barbosa is a true warrior ... cannot recall a fighter his level taking so much damage in back to back fights as he did against Khabibulin, then Lee.
  18. I had Darnold, Jackson, Rosen, Allen, Mayfield, Lauletta, Rudolph in that order. The difference between Allen and Rosen was neglible to me. I think Rosen has been terribly mistreated by the media as the NFL has gone so far right politically. That said, I have a lot of concerns about Rosen's frailty. As to Allen, he is our boy now. Probably has the most he needs to prove, but has off the charts potential. I just hope we take it slow and patient with him before all the naysayers "I told you so" vultures start circling at the first signs of trouble. All young QBS need time to develop.
  19. I think we are in trouble on the OL. That said, there is very little worth drafting on the OL at this point. Kind od disappointed to miss out on Ballage as an rb though. Samuels might be a good pick as a good utility rb/fb/te
  20. Haha bet you were waiting all night to use that one... and if only he could have hit his free throws.
  21. Dumb reply. it should be obvious to anyone except the most imbecilic that I am not claiming any "expert opinion", since I have never seen him play. That said I cannot recall any predraft ranking that was better than the 6th round. I will defer to macbeance. It certainly does not seem you have much to offer on this topic.
  22. Who?! Seriously thought this guy was a 6th or 7th rounder, although I admit not seeing him play. I think McBean know what they want in terms of dB traits, so I guess they get some benefit of the doubt. a bigger name like Shaq griffin would have been more interesting. Surprised to see was still available.
