  1. Honestly if he was not already a Bill this would be like a Mario Addison or Quinten Jefferson type signing. Makes a play here or there but really does not add a ton more than a rookie or guy like Kingsley Jonathon. The Bills just like to stick with the familiar and are willing to pay a premium for it. Not a huge deal at $3M, but again when you shell out 5-10 $3M deal you lose the chance to get a $10M player in exchange for a few of those $3M guys being replaced by min salaries. Their style has proven to be get a lot of mid level talent rather than upper level talent mixed with rookies. It makes sense they can win in the regular season because you get a lot of consistency (plus Josh Allen doesnt hurt) but are lacking in star power come playoff time.
  2. For the people who say he came on strong last year look at the stats. He disappeared most of the 2nd half and playoffs. He was a healthy scratch on two games down the stretch. Had very little impact after week 10.
  3. Don’t think they can do anything again this year. But could be wrong.
  4. That is my thought as well. Energy is down…
  5. Allen will be restructured every year. Don’t get why they didn’t do the max.
  6. Obvious move. Only question is did they limit the amount they converted for some reason? I had seen over $20m as the savings, as high as $24m.
  7. How it works. If he did not resign not many would love him, it would be he was not worth keeping.
  8. These deals kill me. We are so willing to waste a million here and there that could add up to a $10M difference maker. This role that Cam Lewis plays could be a rookie or min level contract. McD is stuck on keeping the familiar with all these guys. No I am expecting a rookie or similar value contract. Let Lewis walk.
  9. I honestly hate these $2M deals that eat up space that could be filled by a rookie or min contract
  10. Without a pass rush we have no chance on d. May as well go all in on o and not waste any money on d.
  11. Hopefully Beane and McD arent betting on Von Miller being the primary contributor in the pass rush. The way he looked you have to have another plan and hope he can at least contribute something not plan on him being the guy.
  12. Bingo. Not just the wasted $ and what player that could help sign but the lost opportunity to develop a younger player. Look at last year, when guys got hurt we were out bring in Dean Marlowe again. How do we not have capable young guys around?
  13. Not awful. But I would have bet my right arm if we let him hit free agency we could have got him for $1.5M or less. He was coming off being a starter last year and the safety market was much lighter and still had no interest. No idea why anyone would think after a year he had less of a role and more options available he would demand more. But hey we only wasted a mil or two. No biggie. Yes but...he got over a mil raise that was unwarranted and in a stacked market. We could have signed a ton of 3rd safeties for half that money. Its not awful but its still a raise and with guaranteed money that was not needed.
  14. My exact thoughts. Our cap situation is much worse this year than last but we double or triple the money to Rapp when he would likely be available during free agency for peanuts. Then we increase our back up QB spend from $1M on Allen to an almost $3M cap hit. These two guys are costing between $6M-$8M when it could have been had for $2-$4M. That $4M could have gone a long way.
  15. I tend to agree. But in a year that we are cap strapped I risk having a lower quality back up QB and use the extra money on starting caliber DL, WR and DB.
  16. Have not seen anything yet. But seems like at least a raise which is odd in this market and coming off a year he was not even a starter vs the year before. No doubt could have got him back for cheap.
  17. My hope is Rapp deal has no guarantees so we locked him up as a back up plan. If they can sign guys off this list then you cut Rapp unless the deal is incentive based meaning if he is not your starter he is only making $1.5-2M.
  18. In that market there is no way that Rapp would be in high demand. He wasnt last year when the market was not even close to this loaded. And I will add he was coming off a better year in which he started 16 games. Yet we are at least doubling his salary it appears? Makes no sense. I would have bet on bringing him back in the open market at essentially the same $1.7M he got this year.
  19. Honestly why waste anything more than $1M on a back up QB? KC paid Gabbert $1M or CIN had Browning at $750K to be a back up which is a much better use of $. If we need Trubisky to play more than a few games the season is in trouble no matter what.
  20. Agreed. I would like to see them wait out on all of those signings. None scream of better get that guy before someone else does. Rapp looks overpay unless the report is greatly exaggerated. No way he should have gotten 3/$15M. Yes - weird use of "great start". Did some obvious things (Harty, Hines, Bates, Douglas, Miller), some tough things (Morse, White, Poyer) and some "what" things (Rapp, Haack, Trubisky).
  21. Still waiting on Rapp details. Hopefully its not actually $4-5M per with the guys available.
  22. Which is double his salary and in a year that the market is flooded. Never mind he was coming off a year that he started when we signed him. I seriously do But he would have been in high demand in the market.
