  1. You can assume everyone that played better than expected last year will do the same this year. And everyone that played worse than expected does not matter. We let go of Brown, Murphy, Jefferson - these were three of our highest paid players last year. We shifted that money to Milano, Williams and Feliciano who were three of the guys on three bottom of the pay scale. We also let go of Norman, Kroft, Nsekhe three midlevel pay guys to. I am not saying we are worse losing these guys, but if we cant find adequate replacement for them than we are worse.
  2. People under estimate this. Our DE's were already light last year and now we are down two more. Easy to say, who cares they sucked. But we are now down two guys and both Beane gave significant contracts not that long ago. We drafted a guy in the 2nd that did not get on the field much. This will need to be addressed as there is no way you can enter the season with Hughes, Epenesa, Addison, Johnson, Cox Jr, Love...
  3. Thus far we are last year minus: Offense: Brown, Kroft; and possibly Nsekhe, Winters, Roberts, McK, Yeldon, Barkley Defense: Norman, Jefferson, Murphy, Marlowe Special Teams: Still unknown on Bojo and Roberts Add's: Star While I am happy to bring back Milano, Williams and Feliciano it could turn out not to be the best decision. This is the tough part of being a GM. Could you have more easily replaced some of those guys and then added better pieces at other positions? It is hard to predict this stuff. There does seem to be a number of guys that could have helped the pass rush available. Would losing Feliciano or Williams have been worth affording Dupree or Barrett? Could we have double-down on WR and grabbed a Galloway instead? Let Milano walk and instead bring in another CB like Peterson? So many scenarios and these are all the tough calls. Obviously last years team was a top team in the AFC. But we are still chasing the Chiefs while also trying to hold off teams like BAL, CLE, IND, MIA, TEN. Beane seemed content rolling the dice on the squad we have and hopefully can add a few pieces in free agency and then have a solid draft.
  4. So we still are paying over $15m to Addison and Butler. Don’t like it all. Would rather have $13-15m guy and a couple minimum contact guys. No thinking allowed. Only clapping.
  5. Restrux left - White, Poyer, Dawkins, Diggs?
  6. Yannick, Dupree, Reddick, Barrett (doubt will be available), Hendrickson, Lawson, Judon, Clowney...Any of them would be our best pass rusher.

  8. Most of what I read predicted something like 4 years and 35M. Sportrac had a value of $7.8M per. So looks like the Bills basically paid market. Dont see anything that was predicting $10M+. Haha. She has said the Browns are after basically ever free agent. They wanted Watt and then supposedly didnt that much. Then David, then Milano, and also want Durpee, Hendrickson, Lawson, Reddick, Barrett and anyone else you can think of.
  9. Everything I have read on Williams was that he could get $7-8M per. Milano's value was impacted by David at only $12.5M. I dont see any discount on either guy. Maybe someone would have paid them, but dont see them getting more than what we paid.
  10. We are paying these guys market value or above. Glad to have them back but we are not doing it on the cheap. If these guys signed elsewhere on these contracts I bet most would be saying "Beane would not pay that kind of money". So I have mixed feelings on the signings. Now we need good value at other positions bc our value RT just got paid. Happy they are back but was hoping for upgrades on the edge and at TE.
  11. So how do these deals work? So you can do a 4 year deal worth $50M voidable after 2 years, bonus is $40M, salary is $2.5M per. So your cap hit is only $12.5M per which you take over two years. Then in year 3 deal is voided and you take a $25M hit? Seems like a no brainer. You get your elite QB on the books for half price and then he retires and you have a rookie or other cheap QB in year with the dead cap.
  12. Happy to have him back but not so happy about $11M per. Will have to see how this breaks down in terms of yearly cap numbers. I think a pass rusher and TE are still more important than Milano. You could argue the OL is more important as well.
  13. I thought the equation was based on guys you lost (I get not including someone you released) offset by guys you sign (this should include a guy released by another team)? Regardless, I think the whole comp thing is dumb. I wish they would just get rid of it.
  14. Yes, I could do that if I took the time. My point, this year is a good year as any to find a cheaper replacement than a guy getting paid $7M that is a non-factor.
  15. How is Cam Newton not a factor in the comp picks?
  16. Well there are about 50 now and sure to be more on the markjet shortly. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/ufa/defensive-tackle/available/
  17. I hope this is a major paycut. No way we should be paying even $3M. Cutting him would have saved $6.8M...you cant convince me that we could not find a better player in this market.
  18. Can we do this on every deal. Seems illegal. Lets give Allen a 5 year $250M deal with 10 voidable years so it is a $10M cap hit...
  19. There are plenty of examples of guys coming back to play more for the money than really wanting to play. I dont know if that is the case here, but just because he is a Long does not make him not want money. We do know: He had a ton of injuries which was the reason he retired. He started playing golf. He worked in the broadcast booth. He has said he will never play again. He said retiring was one of the easiest decisions he ever made. He has a ton of other interests. Maybe: He is bored. Needs money. Misses the game and wants to play. Wants to prove people wrong.
  20. Hasnt played 16 games since 2015. My bet is he needs the money and will be shocked if he stays healthy enough to play in 4 games.
  21. Look at the TE's in the last few super bowls - Kelce, Gronk, Kitttle, Ertz, Hooper. The majority of super bowl teams have a TE that is huge part of the offense. In todays NFL you need a TE.
  22. Dont see why. Happy to admit I was wrong when he becomes a stud.
  23. I don’t mind locking him up another year. But would rather have moved the money around to save some off the cap this year. Instead they made it easier to cut bait next year. I get it needing to look past this year but I feel this year is a buyers market do the more $ the better.
  24. Tommy Tremble in the 6-7th maybe. Dont get these 3rd round projections.
