I don't think this is egregious at all. I personally would rank Allen higher than that, but saying Darnold and Tua are better than Allen is reasonable IMO.

ESPN Football Power Index 2020 Season Simulation

And maybe the most talented roster in the league. -
The gameplay itself is pretty solid with the right sliders as long as you're not trying to exploit everything. It's pretty difficult to get certain players to play like themselves though (offline) and if you want to take it online you're obviously relying on finding the right community of people to play against. I really enjoyed the online league I used to play in. I wish EA would create a deeper franchise mode to improve the immersion though. They've taken so many features out of the game over the years to make the mode more accessible/simpler for everyone while sacrificing the options and little things that make it a worthwhile experience for me personally. It's frustrating as a consumer to see that EA basically sacrificed the deep franchise mode to create one simpler mode while 2K for example makes theirs accessible/simple but also includes options to give you the deeper experience that people like me are looking for. But having said that, I can recognize that the on-field product has gotten better in particular the last two years for Madden. It's still behind the old 2K football games in a handful of areas, but it at least feels like a significant upgrade over earlier PS4 Madden games now. Yeah, I agree with all that. I am kinda curious what the sales are for a game like Super Mega Baseball for example though. It's been successful enough that they've continued publishing new versions of the game; it makes me wonder if a company like 2K could publish a generic football game with all the customization options you could ever want and sell well enough to be profitable. I know I would personally buy it in a heartbeat. Seems like 2K is most likely headed towards creating an NFL Playgrounds game though which probably won't interest me.

Yeah, I'm 100% sure you can download a roster now like you're mentioning. I hate what EA has done to pretty much all of their games in recent years, but allowing people to upload/download stuff was a huge breakthrough. I haven't messed around with it in Madden nearly as much as I have in NBA 2K, but if the roster/draft class creation in Madden gets to where it is in 2K, it'll be an absolute game-changer. Being able to download a 1990 roster to play a franchise with Kelly, Thurman, etc., downloading a 1991, 92, 93, etc. draft class to basically recreate history...it'll be awesome if it takes off (and it may have already, I don't know) in Madden the way it has in 2K.

They've added the ability to upload and download rosters, draft classes, slider settings, etc. You won't get an official roster from EA for the 2020-21 season in Madden 20, but I guarantee someone will take the ratings in Madden 21 and upload them into a Madden 20 roster for people to download.

Basically, the rankings are the formulaic team ratings. They think New England is slightly better than Buffalo. But factor in the schedules and Buffalo is the slight favorite to win the division despite being a slightly worse team. -

Owners to vote on Extending EA exclusive License
DCOrange replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2K is pretty buggy itself, but they put wayyyy more effort into upgrading the game from year to year than EA does with any of their sports games. 2K is pretty much the only company that pushes the envelop with sports games every year but they push it to the point of breaking unfortunately. Still, NBA 2K remains my most played game every year by far and their football games are still ahead of Madden in many areas. -

Nope, he was literally playing OLinemen at WR as well as TE and had a punter at QB because apparently the punter has a faster handoff animation. -
Which Bills Starter is most likely to regress in 2020?
DCOrange replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was my thought as well. In terms of raw numbers, the obvious choice is John Brown. Coming off a career year and he’s not the #1 option anymore. But in terms of actual play quality, Singletary was ridiculously good on a still small-ish sample size. -
Dallas 175 million 5 year offer to Prescott
DCOrange replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, what exactly is your definition of decent? At absolute worst, he's been a top 15 QB 3 of his 4 years and you could make a good case for him being around a top 5 QB for 2 of those years. -

That's just objectively false. -

This. Cowboys want him to sign a longer deal. Dak says “fine, then you’re gonna have to pay for it because all the QBs will be getting $45 mil by the time that year hits.” Nothing wrong with his negotiations IMO based on the leaks so far. They’re just both hard balling each other. -

Zack Moss runs a 4.52 40 yard dash
DCOrange replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was generally viewed as the 5th or 6th best RB prospect. He still was taken in the same range that most expected but there were definitely RBs taken ahead of him that were not expected to be. But yeah, definitely don’t think he dropped like a rock. It’s more that if you would have said 8 RBs were taken ahead of him, most people would have been a little surprised. It’s also obviously possible that NFL personnel were never as high on him as the media was. -

If you download the 4.52 video into a video editor and look at the time stamps, he begins the run at 12.13 and finished somewhere between 16.73-16.77. 4.52 seconds into his run, he appears to be around the 37 yard line. If it’s electronically timed the same way it is at the combine, there is still human error involved as a human starts the timer and the electronic part kicks in just for the finish line. At any rate, there is no way you can watch the video with the timeframes that you get in a video editor and conclude that it’s a 4.52. Unless the video they posted is slowed down, the only logical explanation is that the timer didn’t start on time. Edit: the same thing happens with Combine times (and it’s even easier to figure it out with a video editor because it’s ***** at a much better angle. So for example, Jalen Reagor really ran around a 4.40 at the Combine but because his timer started too early, he was only credited with a 4.48 (or 4.47, I can’t remember for sure). -

The Combine technically is electronically timed as well and they still get it wrong too. He starts his run at 12.13 and depending on which frame you think he crosses the line, he finishes at 16.73-16.77. Subtract 12.13 from 16.73-16.77 and you get a 4.60-4.64 range. -

Speed isn’t all that important for a RB, especially one like Moss. Being a 4.6 guy with his skills is plenty. I would bet that the video in the OP is closer to a 4.65 than it is a 4.52. Edit: Yeah, if you download the 4.52 video, depending on which frame you think he crossed the line in, he ran a 4.60-4.64. He is a 4.6 speed guy and that's totally fine. -
If it were the same exact situation, where the vast majority of the league is made up of white players but there's almost no white coaches, then yeah, I don't see why it would be wrong to try to do something about that. It'll never be a thing though. And again, I tend to lean towards this not being the right proposal in this situation, but I think I'm more open to it than most of the posters here.

For anyone legitimately interested in trying to understand the issue, this article does a pretty good job of breaking things down, though there's plenty of issues that can't really be accounted for. https://www.bannersociety.com/2017/8/9/20726457/black-head-coaches Essentially, the most likely pathway to becoming a head coach is: Playing QB/C --> QB/OLine Coach --> Coordinator --> Head Coach. Statistically, most minority QBs are moved to other positions when they move up from HS to college. Most minority offensive linemen are put at OT or OG rather than C. Why those position changes occur are highly highly debatable. There's certainly legitimate reasons to move guys out of those positions. For example, my high school team literally threw the ball less than 5 times a game. Our "QB" won regional player of the year, but he couldn't throw a ball to save his life, so he was recruited as RB/CB instead. This kind of thing could innocently impact minorities more than white QBs; it's a case-by-case thing that can't really be accounted for in those position change statistics. It's somewhat reasonable for centers as well, though I think the argument is probably weaker there and it's still a substantial gap. At the time the article was published, roughly 50% of offensive linemen were minorities, but only 9% of centers were. Because minorities aren't playing QB/C outside of the high school level, they don't get the opportunity to become a QB or OLine coach, which means they don't get the opportunity to become a coordinator, which means they don't get the opportunity to become a head coach. So bringing it back to this proposal, again, I don't think there's any chance it passes and I'm not sure I think it should pass in the first place. The issue begins much earlier than the NFL ranks but its effects certainly show up in the NFL. I wonder if a version of this proposal might make more sense: incentivizing teams to hire minorities as their QB/OLine coach and just leave the rest of it alone. It's not in the headline, but this proposal does incentivize hiring minority QB coaches in addition to the other levels that are getting more publicity.

Now do the demographics of NFL players versus coaches. It is pretty clearly a problem. This proposal might be going too far to address it, but if someone were to argue that going too far is better than maintaining the status quo, I wouldn't necessarily laugh it off. I give it a near 0% chance of passing the vote so this likely won't matter, but it's pretty clearly a significant step up in addressing the issue compared to the Rooney Rule which almost literally does nothing.

I'm curious to see what the "bone" colored jerseys look like on the field, but from my viewpoint, they look like the old smocks my 3rd grade art teacher would make us wear when we painted. Also the patch on that one is just horrific. Why not make the patch the same "bone" color rather than having a random white square on the jersey?
