I think two of the more successful recent project type quarterbacks are Big Ben and Joe Flacco. Both small school guys with big arms who people had a lot of concerns about in terms of how their skills, footwork etc might translate to the NFL. Ben fell a bit in the draft and Flacco was drafted higher than people thought he would be. Cam Newton was mentioned in this thread. Also I know most people dislike Kaepernick, but he was a pistol offense project that took his team to the Super Bowl and probably would have had a better career if he had Allen's level of commitment to the game. Many have failed...the Bollers, Leafs, Lockers, Gabberts, Losmans of the world. But I really do feel like Allen's love of and commitment to the game will more than likely lead to him fixing the issues that are present in his game.

Apparently we worked out Brad Nortman and Drew Kaser...so maybe they are looking to upgrade or light a fire. Or maybe his shoulder is screwed up.

Yes. He was drafted to play in James Bettchers 3-4. Bettcher is now with Giants. They hired Steve Wilks from the Panthers who basically runs similar concepts to McDermotts 4-3. On paper he should be able to play the will in a 4-3, but that doesn't seem to play to his strengths.

He was a 230 lb defensive end in Temple's 4 man front. He has some nice pass rush ability but is undersized as a 3-4 OLB or DE so I think inside in a 3-4 is where his versatility will play. A poor man's Ryan Shazier.

I always thought Reddick was a better fit as a 3-4 inside linebacker. I could see a hybrid type team like the Steelers or Packers get this guy and have him be super productive.

I recall a lot of people hated it, said he was washed up and looked at stats like YPC. They compared him to Mike Tolbert, and it's a ridiculous and short sighted comment. Ivory was a smart signing and has been integral to keeping drives alive. Perfect complement to McCoy.

The one thing about Jones that is interesting to me is that he has been in a quarterback room with Big Ben his entire career. He may be able to help Allen with preparation tips and things of that nature. Allen needs to be able to turn to a guy on the sideline, who isn't a coach, to get his take about what is being seen etc. that's where an experienced backup, even if he isn't great, would be a massive upgrade over a second year Peterman...imo.

I would use Clay to try and grab Forrest Lamp from the Chargers. LA needs to go for it with Rivers getting older. Clay would be the perfect rental and a guy who is already familiar with Anthony Lynn. Lamp continues to be buried on the depth chart and is an asset that would help us short term, but more long term. He's coming off an injury so there is risk, but I think it would be a good risk to take.

I think Redmond was a developmental center, but would be badly exposed if he actually had to play. He should be on a practice squad, but with the lack of center talent around, hes on a roster. I dont think he is better than any of the guys on our roster. He will get cut when Frederick comes back.

He developed in Miami under the Dennis Hickey regime as well. So that's a front office connection. Brian Gaine, who was with us last year, was assistant GM when he was drafted. Nothing earth shattering, but connections. The Robiskie connection is probably the strongest one. I think he would be a good add, but he is not a big deal. Solid contributer.

The only guy I can think of is Jamison Crowder. He's a smaller reciever but very good. He's been buried a bit in Washington and is a pending free agent.

Yes on the third one I believe the problem is that Benjamin and Khari Lee are both on the line on the same side. The receiver can't cover up the tight end. So either Benjamin needed to be off the line, or Lee was lined up on the wrong side.

Bills should be first in line for any OL released. It's your best chance to play at some point.

He played a ton of LG at Iowa and can play LT and RT. He would be a good depth add with the opportunity to displace someone eventually.

Pretty sure he is a guard-tackle only. Not a left tackle either.

Now turn aroudn and give it to Bashaud Breeland.

I don't fully blame him, but in my opinion, the best coaches in this league are the ones who micromanage these things. Hue is kind of at blame if he was never infomred of this. He needs to have some sort of structure in place so this information is shared whether its a daily debrief or memo of some sort. There should be nothing that happens on the player personell side of his team that he does not know about. To me this means he doesn't have the right process in place.

I think the only reasons people were interested in Hue Jackson back in the day were: He was going to keep Jim Schwartz. He was not Rex Ryan.

I am suprised they brought in Michael Bennett, but he can certainly help the pass rush. Paszor is an interesting depth type of player who could probably start at guard right now. Quinton Dial is a massive person who would add depth to the defensive line.

Bosa 100%. Its all about edge pressure. I love Oliver obviously, but Bosa has to be the pick.

I don't know what to believe because his grades on Matt Milano are really good. He looks very good to me, yet McDermott keeps pulling him out for Ramon freaking Humber. So yeah I don't know what to think.

Gentry is a footbll player through and through. Reilly is an athlete who did nearly nothing at Nebraska. I think they are completely differnt entities. Gentry is the guy making all those huge plays with Allen on those highlight films, while Reilly caught something like 67 balls during his entire college career. Gentry caught 72 passes 1,326 yards and 14 TDs his senior year.

He's a 4.46 40 and a 38 inch vert. And he put up 19 reps on the bench so he is a strong guy. I know it is unrealistic, but everyone aside from Breeland would be minimum salary guys.
