True, and I'd take Milano at his price over Brown at his. Zach is having a darn good year though.
Zach is a really nice fit for what they do in Washington. Not sure he would have been great for McDermott's scheme, and he talks trash about his coaches on twitter, but yes I definitely take Milano. The guy simply makes game changing plays. Some of it is lucky, but a lot it is just being aggressive,

Good thing we didn't sign Zach Brown to some ridiculous contract. We never would have found this guy.

Great name for a QB failure.
Best since The Much Maligned Mark Malone
Maybe Bortles can work on NFL Matchup and explain how to throw interceptions and throw uncatchable ducks to guys 5 yards away.

Did Murphy get hurt last week? Had 38 snaps/54% last week coming off of an injury. I
Oops...I guess not. I did not notice him on the field

Does anyone think Shaq gets suspended or Murphy is going to out all season?
Smith is relatively interesting as a former first round pick, but hasn't quite done anything in the NFL. When he was released Carroll talked about some personal issues the guy was having. I dunno.

I am a Mason Rudolph believer and there is nothing yet to say he won't be a great QB. He is sitting behind Big Ben and whenever he does start, I think he plays lights out. I'm not saying he'll be Mahomes, but I think he will put up good numbers. And again, Rudolph going to a team like the Steelers or even the Pats, will make him even better. He wasn't ready this year and it was something I also advocated for when I would have preferred to stand pat and keep all the Draft picks and select him, which was to learn for at least a year.
That said, I'm not one to boo-hoo over things I can't change. And while I was disappointed in the initial pick of Josh Allen, once he put on that hat and gave his first interview, I was a Josh Allen supporter and certainly see good reasons for optimism for his continued development.
I appreciate your take. I think what drove me bananas during that time is that I felt strongly that Rudolph would go in the third round, and some fans wanted to trade into the top ten for him. I'm not saying he won't make it, but he was, and is a third round prospect who has been inactive all season. But like you said, his full book has yet to be written. .

"I may have been wrong about Jimmy Clausen" - Mel Kiper
"I may have been wrong about Blaine Gabbert." Todd McShay and a whole bunch of coaches
"I may have been wrong about EJ Manuel." - Doug Whaley
"I may have been wrong about Mason Rudolph." - Chris Trapasso
Point being, it happens. And these guys are professionals and get paid a lot of money to be wrong about 50% of the time, so no worries.

Here are some more fun walks down memory lane from another QB thread, now closed, from Summer

If Peterman is terrible, I think Allen will be worse this year

And yeah, Bills fans wanted Allen. That's what most fans do. They pick the heralded new guy and want to see him immediately. They choose the short term over the long term. They take the perspective of a person wanting entertainment rather than the perspective of a guy whose job prospects depend on the long-term success of the team and the QB in particular.
And as for Allen not starting the first game, one word ...
Duh.
(and in responding to someone calling McDermott clueless for starting Peterman)
Thang is we don't know yet whether what is due is blame or credit or whether the fans were right or wrong.
We do know that McD has a ton more info on the situation than we do.
@BullBuchanan said, in reference to why Peterman would win
Forget stats. He's the only QB that doesn't look like a deer in the headlights and can move the chains. The only reason it's taking this long is because McBeane desperately wants to validate selling the farm to draft a raw prospect 7th overall. It's ego and nothing more. It hasn't been a close competition at any point since the draft.
And
Sorry, I can't hear you over his 85% completion percentage throughout the preseason. He went 8/10 113 and a TD. Allen went 9/19 against those "scrubs" last week. so what does that say? He's outperformed Allen in both games against 1rst and 3rd string players. You're starting to look like a fool.
I think some of those takes are fair opinions at the time, wrong but fair. Some fans bought into the "Josh Allen 56% completion" thing and never moved past it. He still has not been super accurate, but I believe he is special. To get a real laugh you have to dig up the "we should trade up for Mason Rudolph" stuff. And the "God I hope New England doesn't trade up in front of us for Mason Rudolph." Good times.

Hey, who says they are done with this ???
I'd say Brandon Beane has found himself a dream job here in Buffalo and won't stop fiddling with the gears until there's
nobody left sitting on the couch, watching TV.
He's dabbling this season like it's a video game, or something...........
It certainly feels that way at times. I'm actually a Bills and Mariners fan. Nothing compares to Jerry Dipoto's 38 trades in three years and trading, then re-acquiring multiple players.

Nah she's just racist. Career is dead, but she's still alive.

Drew Kaser is better than both of these guys. I wonder why he didn't get a look. The job is Bojorquez's anyway I suppose.
-
I think his value to this team goes a bit deeper than the stats. He's been big pumping up Josh Allen, and he has the credibility to do so. I think it has a bit to do with Josh's swagger. I don't want to lose that for a 4th round pick.

Marrone wants to go coach the Jets with MacCagnan his boy. It's the job he wanted a few years ago, but Jets ownership wanted Bowles. I could see Marrone quitting, again, and taking the Jets job.

Bortles is awful. Still can't believe we lost that playoff game to him. I blame Tuhrod and slow as crap Preston.
-
I don't have a problem with hiring him as a QB coach or some sort of offensive assistant. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2003 so some of the concepts would mesh. Brian Daboll was the receivers coach on that Super Bowl winning staff in 2003 so there is a bit of a match there.

Well,
Foster, McKenzie, Zay... cuz i gotta mancrush on zay, like i had on Moulds!
but..
add a baller on top of that...
then,
a real TE threat, to go with Croom (who I really like, but he's a 2 TE)
so really, imo:
one WR, and one TE
OPTIMISTIC:::::::
Chris Conley from KC completes the wide reciever group. Size, speed, and the pedigree. He is ready to step up and be a number 1, but he is still kind of buried in KC. He's a UFA with a relationship with David Culley. To me he is offseason target #1. Conley, Zay, McKenzie, Foster, Thompson if we bring him back...speed to burn. I don't need a #1 did name guy like Funchess. Give me Conley all day.
-
I really think he wants to go coach the Jets and be with his buddy McCagnan. Mayb he wants to be fired. Bortles really sucks.
-
This guy is Ramses Barden. 6-6, 225 and jump balls all day. Go back and watch some Barden highlights from Clay Poly and they are the same player. Film is a bit grainy though. It didn't quite translate to the NFL. Butler is facing better competition, but the bottom line, everything will depend on his 40 time.
-
The next step in this evolution is Chris Conley. This has to happen this offseason. Speed that kills and is 6-2, 215 with a 45 inch vert. He's developed nicely for KC and Andy Reid. Now he has to come here and be the #1 guy.
-
Matt Barkley. Played probably the best game for a Bills quarterback I have seen in years.

It was a really nice story to see and I am glad he is making a difference. All the football highlights they showed were Jets highlights, inguessing becuase there were no Bills ones. He still sucked, but I like him a lot more now.

Go with Zay. With Foster and Deonte Thompson on the outside with all of that speed, I think Zay will excel working the underneath stuff. I predict a huge breakout for Zay over the last few weeks.
Bills tried to sign WR Isaiah McKenzie off Broncos PS; claim on waivers

My favorite part about his Jet sweep touchdown was Zay Jones cutting crap out of Jalen Ramsey. So cool
