Cool article on how we was used in New England in a variety of ways.
I hope we sign him and keep him around next year. He would be nice depth at the linebacker spot we lack right now.

I remember him playing really well against us last year. Being all over the field. Plus he has intimate knowledge of both the Lions and Patriots schemes, and they just happen to be our next two opponents.

Special teams is terrible and McDermott has not made any calls on firing Danny Crossman. Or making room for any changes or adjustments nepotism is a hard pill to swallow for Bills fans.
McDermott isn't going to throw the guy under the bus. He isn't that kind of guy. There is little to be gained by firing him right now. Wait until the offseason and try to get a guy like Dave Toub to jump ship or maybe Joe DeCamillis when the Jaguars staff gets blown up.

A veteran offensive line is the best thing for Josh Allen, and our cap space makes it possible. Draft BPA for value and forget about plugging holes.

I could be totally off the wall, but our OL blocking scheme has relied extensively on cut blocks and timing this year (which they can't execute worth crap, leading to our guys sprawling around on the ground while defenders hurdle them unabated to the ball carrier, but that's another story)
Given that background, I personally think Dawkins was attempting what should have been a timed cut block after Miller moved on, except Miller didn't successfully move on in time, thus what should have been a legal cut became an illegal chop.
I'm 100% with you. I'm a high school o,line coach. I have sat in clinics with pro and colleges coaches and this is exactly the technique that is taught on zone plays. It isn't an illegal play if the guard stops blocking the guy. The guard screwed up there. People who continue to call the Dawkins play dirty need to study up on zone blocking schemes. Like you said, it is all about timing.
Anderson's hit on the kicker is dirty as is guys smashing Josh Allen. If the refs let you get away with it, so be it.

Definitely a scapegoat here, but I'd welcome him on our staff.
The reason I would bring him in is that he took Carson Wentz from a guy with athletic potential, to a guy that was an MVP candidate last year before he got hurt. A hire like that could be huge for Josh Allen.

Did not know that.
He's been very apologetic and took responsibility. I just wonder how much it will be re-hashed over and over.

Sorry I don't know how to do those cool links where the video is embedded or whatever.

I think #6 should be Jeffery Simmons, Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver. We need an elite front 7 guy. Pickup a C and G in FA and we'll be in a good spot to take one of these guys. Kyle could come back in 2019 and rotate behind them. Take like 3 OL RDS 2-5.
I think Simmons will drop simply because there is a video of him punching a woman. It was awhile ago, but it will all be brought to forefront again especially given teh Kareem Hunt stuff.

Shaq Mason signed an extension with NE. I have a major issue reaching for need in the top ten of the draft. Little, Williams, are simply not BPA at that point. You cannot plug holes with top ten picks. You can trade down and draft lineman, but don't draft linemen in the top ten unless they elite left tackles like Joe Thomas. Never draft a guard or right tackle that high unless they are 100% no doubt plug and play all pro like Quentin Nelson. Williams, Little et al are simply not in that category.
Our draft board has to be:
Bosa
The defensive tackles: Oliver, Williams, etc.
Josh Allen OLB
OL and WR will be huge reaches if taken that high.
Fill those in free agency or via trades.

The refs continue to give Josh the Cam Newton treatment, which is complete bullcrap. Because he is big he's supposed to be tough and anyone can rough him whenever. It's been a problem for years for Cam and it will be for Josh as well.

Is the tackle from Alabama a top 10 talent?
I guess it's that point in the NFL season where I need to start bothering paying attention to college.
I don't think that he is. I don't think there is a surefire top ten offensive lineman this year. So I would avoid them...sign young veteran free agents on the line, Morse, Easton, Williams, Glowinski, Cann, Williams etc. all those names we keep talking about. The top players this year are defensive linemen. That's where the impact will be imo.

Shades of EJ Manuel to JJ Watt.

I think Stanford can play will. Technically, Corey Thompson is the next Will backer up. We likely see a lot more Lorax off the ball and lot of Raphael Bush as well. Richard Jarvis is on our practice squad. The best free agent is probably Marquis Flowers, former Bengal and Patriot. You've former Dolphin and Falcon Jordan Tripp as a FA.
Practice squad wise, there are some interesting guys on other teams-
Xavier Woodson Luster - (knows the system) Browns
Brandon Chubb (Bradley's brother) - Panthers
Josh Woods - Bears
Chris Worley former OSU - Bengals
Brady Sheldon (interesting guy from Ferris State) - Packers
Kyle Wilson - Chargers
James Burgess - Dolphins
Matthew Thomas (FSU)- Steelers
Josh Carraway (TCU) - Redskins
That's all I got.
I know it's bad taste to quote myself, but quick note about my guy Brady Sheldon from Ferris State...ran a 4.47 forty at 6-5, 230 pounds. Can play off the ball and on the line. Could potentially be a Lorax replacement sitting on the Packers practice squad.
I also really liked Carraway and Burgess during draft time. We probably replace from within but there are some good players out there.
Marquis Flowers probably makes the most sense as a bulked up former safety who ran 4.51 and has a good amount of NFL experience.

I think they are trying to do this with Raphael Bush. You could try to sign a guy like Deonte Buccanon, who is a free agent. Another idea, outside the box a bit, sign Landon Collins and move Micah Hyde to corner.

If being a good QB came down to hard work, EJ Manuel, Tyrod Taylor, and Nate Peterman would all be superstars.
None of those guys have the talent that Josh does. Tyrod has some skills, but he's not a quarterback. Allen has got the ability and is going to work hard.

I saw a similar chop block, Bears receiver went low on engaged DL on a split zone play. It was clearly a mistake like Dawkins. Rams guy didn't act like a maniac and call people out saying they are dirty. Jenkins is a biotch.

Hopefully Stanford, but he is listed as the backup MLB. But he looked good and rangy filling-in for Edmunds earlier.

You can't have it both ways at this point in his career. If you want a guy who is going to make a ton of plays and take risks, there will be wow plays and there will be mistakes. But at least we got a guy with some stones as opposed to watching Tyrod and EJ Manuel and Trent Edwards being afraid to pull the trigger.

As an Andy Reid disciple, I don't think his game management skills will get better. Hopefully, we can have a ridiculous offense like theirs, so it doesn't matter.

Good stuff in here. I don't think it was a dirty play.

that block made.. absolutely no sense. Why would a tackle go ahead and do that? Super early in the game. Was baffling.
From my experience, and I might be wrong, that was a botched backside scoop zone block. I teach my linemen to high low like that, but its all about timing. You want to cut the guy on the combo block once the other lineman is disengaged. I don't think it was a dirty play, I actually think it was John Miller's fault for not working to the next man. Him staying on Jenkins left Dawkins out to dry. I think it was more timing than anything.

2004 game v. Steelers. Steelers "backups" (a lot of whom become the core of the Steelers SB win a few years later) beat the Bills in a meaningless win for the Steelers. Was the worst loss, esp. at the time. And esp. since I was watching it with Steeler fans.
Yep its this 100%. Losing to some guy named Brian St. Pierre and a backup running back Willie Parker. Heartbreaker.

That's all you had to type. We having been saying for years that once you get the quarterback straight everything else kind of works it self out. We have our guy. Yes he has some things to work on, but he's going to work his ass off his entire career. He's guy.
We need some o-linemen in free agency, we need a reciever, and a tight end. We need a defensive tackle as well, and perhaps a defensive end. But we have that cornerstone piece...now we can really build a team.

No way a TE should be the Bills' pick in the 1st round with the OL being a much higher priority. A number of other positions are greater needs such as WR, CB, and maybe DL.
Agreed (I think OL is fixed in FA and defense is drafted early). I'm just saying this two Noah Fant threads so far and we are months away from the draft. My fear is that there will be many, many, many more threads advocating picking the dude in the top ten.

I was actually excited when McDermott came in for a play. Why not see what we have? Same with Ike Boettger. Miller and Mills have proven that they are scrubs.
