I really like Keene. I think he'd be a nice add as a guy who could play tight end and fullback. I like him as a Kyle Juszcyck type of player.

Eh, we all know he was overdrafted, but he was terrible and all he did was regress. When coaches doubted him, you would thing he would push harder. A professional athlete without confidence is useless. He also probably should have started to learn to read defenses before half way through his rookie season.

I think Justin Herbert winds up being the best QB in the class, and I know that is not a popular take. But a team needs to let him sit 8 games at least. If he gets thrown into the fire, he won’t make it.

totally! You figure you get the 5th year option and at least 1 franchise tag. So he’s here at least 3 more years. Worst case scenario is that he plays here 8 years and walk as a free agent at like 29. That’s not awful but I think we are better off keeping him here.

It’s just becuase they are a team picking in the back third of the round without a first round pick. It skews everything. If they picked higher in the round, it wouldn’t matter as much and they would have more perceived value.

With the 28th pick of the 2020 NFL draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma Oh man, my Ravens sprint up the virtual podium the select the former Sooner standout. Ever since CJ Mosley left, the Ravens’ defense has been missing something. Murray has all of the leadership and intangibles, he is long, strong, and fast. He is also a great blitzer and is the ideal toy for the Ravens defense. I was trying to trade up into the late teens for Murray, so to have him slide here feels like a steal. After getting run over by the Titans, the Ravens acquired Calais Campbell, Derek Wolfe, and moved Brandon Williams back to the nose. This team has a great secondary, strong edge players and now finds the new heart and soul of their defense in Murray. @Blokestradamus and the Titans are now on the clock. @Virgil

Makes sense. Obviously he loves Diggs, but I think one of the reasons he was so comfortable making that move is that he didn't love what might be available in the 22 range, back third of the first. So why would he turn around and risk a ton of future draft capital to get up into that range again? Doesn’t make sense. I could see a bit of trade up in the second if someone fell out of day 1. But it seems like there is like 12-15 really great prospects and that 16-80 could go anywhere on the board. So we are sitting pretty imo.

Yep in 2018 Johnson was the assistant OL coach under Dave DeGugliemo, who coached the Dolphins OL last season and was let go. Boehm was traded to the Dolphins after running with the third string in Indy after Johnson and DeGugliemo left. So those guys must see something in him that others might be missing. Boehm’s situation is a lot like Mark Glowinski, former 4th rounder who bounced around and then Johnson and DeGugliemo turned into a very good starting guard in the league. But Boehm has some skill, it just hasn’t come together yet. I think Boehm’s best position is center, but he could push the guys at the guard spot as well.

Boehm was a pretty highly touted high school player, started 52 games at Mizzou and hasn’t seemed to find his footing in the league. Bounced around some but looked like he might have found a home in Indy until both O-line coaches left, then he was running with the 3rd string. Its good depth, insurance, and competition and you get a natural center to back up Morse, who he can play guard as well. I like it.

I think this guy is an interesting player, but like others have said, I think being a slash type player can sometimes hurt a guy. He certainty has the size and the speed to be a receiver, so why are they thinking running back when he is so unrefined there? He is one of the more interesting offensive players in the draft. I will say this, to me he looks like a faster version of TJ Yeldon, without the running back experience. To me, this guy is already on our team. I’m not sure that this is the type of guy this regime will target. I think they like guys like Singletary who had to carry the load for his team and have experience carrying the football.

Greenard seems like the most absolute perfect fit for what McDermott has traditionally looked for in edge players. I’m with you. Obviously Gross-Matos as well, but he’s out of reach. Those two guys really stand out to me as his type.

I agree with this and mentioned it somewhere else. He is such a specific scheme fit that I don’t know how he gets that amount. Take into account that the free agent off ball linebacker list next year includes Lavonte David, KJ Wright, Demario Davis, Donta Hightower, Avery Williamson, Denzel Perryman, Zach Cunningham.... I love Milano, but who has the fit, the cap space, and prefers him to those other guys? I don’t see 12 million per.

He’d be better off here than in Carolina. I think it is hard to transition from a player to a coach in the same place. You now become sort of in charge of your peers. Although there are a good number of his former peers here. But because of his intelligence and understanding of the game, it would seem like he’d be the kind of guy that would excel as a future coach. If I were first starting out as a coach and wanted to learn from guys it doesn’t get much better than Sean McDermott, Leslie Frazier, Bob Babich.

I’m guessing on the short list for Bills might be something like: Winfield Kmet Dugger Greenard Hall Simpson

And just to add, teams get stuck with bad kickers when they draft them or pay them. Because they invested a pick or money in them, they feel the need to stick with them, sometimes way too long. Kickers are so volatile, like bullpen arms in baseball, so it just doesn’t make sense to invest too much in one.

For sure. I think the majority of the quarterbacks who are good, special etc. (aside from 199 and a few outliers) are quarterbacks drafted in the first round. That’s the biggest thing, you want to get a quarterback? Odds are you need to find him in the first round. That is not the case with kickers, you can find them anywhere and the majority are UDFAs. You just have to find the right one. So I guess my point is that if you look at the draft as a science, history says draft a quarterback early, do not draft a kicker anywhere.

There is actually a lot of debate out there questioning whether he was worth a first round pick. People for him point out how good he was from long range, and as you said a true weapon. Other people feel that even though he made big kicks and was a weapon, he wasn’t really the best kicker in the league at any point and won’t be in the Hall of Fame. In all honesty he doesn’t even crack the top 10 list of kickers the last 20 years. So was he good? Yes. His leg was a missle and he could do some things nobody else could. But was he really worth a first round pick? I don’t think so. (Especially when you consider who was picked 199 in that particular draft.) But yeah I thinks it’s up for debate. He was good, but wasn’t as good as his peers who are mostly UDFAs and late rounders, so the value just isn’t there.

I really think Tua is going to go to the Chargers for a variety of reasons. Tua is a good fit for Chan Gailey’s offense, but I agree that I’m not sure Miami loves him. Good work @GunnerBill. Have you worked through a second round? And if so what is available when the Bills pick comes up?
