I'm still waiting for Sean to right the ship. He deserves the opportunity. I'm just wondering if there's an upgrade availble who's offensive minded to continue Josh's development.
-
For sure. I think he holds out for another HC job though. I don't think Sean's going anywhere. But I don't think anything should be off the table to talk about.

The guy that backed up Brett Farve for a decade and beat Brady and Belichick in the Super Bowl with a backup QB.

Week 14 Gameday Bills at Buccaneers Pregame thread

In about 20 mins. I hope he gives McKenzie a chance to redeem himself. -
What if there was a proven super bowl winning coach who is offensive minded and can personally develop Allen to the next level?

Week 14 Gameday Bills at Buccaneers Pregame thread
Motorin' replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have to pass 80/20... It that doesn't mean pass from shotgun 80% of the time. Where did the pre-snap motion go? Where did the play action from under center go? Where did the designed Josh Allen runs that are actually rpo go? We are ham stringing ourselves if we just line up in shot gun and throw 50 times. Make them have to guess what's freaking coming. Run the jet sweep and make them defend the edges. Why so predictable? And for the love of God, change the wr screen audible away from Gold Rip. Every one and their mom's know what that call means. -
It's definitely premature and a complete hot take to call for the end of the McD era. A better thread discussion is: when does it make sense to start talking about a HC change?

Around the NFL - Sunday December 12

Chris Jones, Melvin Engram and Frank Clark are going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams. -
We need to see how this season plays out. I do wonder if Josh needs a new offensive minded HC who has had more success than McD. It worked for John Elway when they fired Dan Reeves. I don't want Josh to have to wait until he's an old man to win a Super Bowl though.

Primary Cause of Bills losing to Patriots/Colts/Titans/Steelers
Motorin' replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's the worst, most empty statement in all of sports. And all it means is that you lost the last game that someone uses it against you. -
Josh needs to be under center much more. The play action pass works a million times better under center than in shotgun. Plus we run the ball better under center when we throw it from under center. Because when we're in shotgun 90% of the time, the D knows it's going to be a run when under center. Whereas when we throw it enough from under center, the run can surprise them.

Here's what I don't get. You know the wind is blowing left to right into your face in the 4th quarter. You throw back should to Diggs on the right sideline that you know is going to take the ball out of bounds instead of throwing into the teeth of the wind on the left side line. He gets wide open, but the ball flies out of bounds. Then you get down to the New England 6 and leave the ball on the right hash for a fg kick. Get the ball to the left hash *****. Two fg's from the left hash in the 4th win the game.

You are wrong about a loss to the Bucs knocking us out of the playoffs. The other AFC playoff teams have to play each other a bajillion times in the next 5 weeks. I'm more concerned about the team's effort this week. I of course want them to win. But effort and intensity across the board is the #1 key to the game from my perspective.
-
That certainly contributed to the L. Sloppy penalties, drops, stupid fumble. But not one mistake or all of them combined lost the game like the McKenzie fumble against the Colts. We had 2 shots in a row to drive for the game winning TD in the 4th. Imo, the most dominant force on the field was NE's red zone defense. They won the game for the Pats in my view.
-
Yeah, there's a difference between quick hitting short passes and taking the check down. Brady isn't the master of the check down, he's the master of seeing exactly what the defense is giving him and taking it immediately. It goes against Josh's gun slinger mentality. But he has to develop that tool as an extension of the run. And I'm not talking about calling Gold Rip when everyone and their mothers know a wr screen is coming.

Is it worth seeing if Antonio Williams should get a shot?

Singletary may have taken some of those Red Zone runs to the house where Moss refused to turn it outside. -
Is it time to be concerned about a lack of 4th Q heroics?
Motorin' replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh has to get better with his decision making. The players protecting Josh need to be upgraded. The play calling and game planning need to be improved. The in game adjustments need to be improved. The running backs need to be upgraded. They need a more physical TE and WR to make sure catches in crunch time. -
OK, armchair analysts: How do we fix this offense?
Motorin' replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall
We ran too much, and ran too many plays out of shotgun. Josh needed to be under center more and use play action & designed roll outs. -
It's not like Sullivan asked a hard hitting question about football. Imagine if Hyde's response was "aren't you embarrassed that you write for the Niagara Gazette?"
-
Poyer and Hyde's response is completely understandable because they work their asses off and believe in themselves and their team. They maintain a winning attitude even in the face of a tough loss. The Sullivan's of the world demand a loser attitude in the face of defeat.
