Lamar wants his contract situation to be settled by week 1
ColoradoBills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a 2-way street there. Josh and his agent could have held things up, but they didn't. In a way it was Josh giving a discount and I'm sure he didn't care about being the highest paid. He wants championships and has more money already than he could ever spend. -
Players that are ST only…how much value do they have?
ColoradoBills replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well said. Matt Smiley had a presser about a week or so ago and I'm not sure if everyone who is interested in STs watched it. He does explain precisely what his role is concerning roster decisions. He "ranks" all the ST guys in value and hands that off to McDermott and Beane. I like what I hear from him and the ST "process" if you will. For anyone interested who didn't catch it. The first 10+ minutes is mainly about Punters/Holding and PR/KR. Starting at 11:00 minutes is pretty interesting. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/matthew-smiley-my-emphasis-is-always-to-push-that-level-of-competition -

This is the site I use. Breaks out penalties all different ways. https://www.nflpenalties.com/team/buffalo-bills?year=2021 -
How many trades does Beane make the next 3 weeks?
ColoradoBills replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane keep his cutdown trade streak going with 1. We'll have to see who. -
Does LB Baylon Spector make the Bills final 53?
ColoradoBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
When Beane signed Marquel Lee again this spring I thought he might be a guy to replace Matakevich as a ST core player for less money. He played a lot of ST for the Raiders in his career and was cut by the Bills last August. I saw him make a play or two on D yesterday but don't know about ST. Maybe a long shot to watch. -
This year’s (2022) draft may turn out to be shockingly good

What about Mary? -
Tim Settle looked pretty darn good

After Tim's play yesterday I feel even more confident that Beane finally has the DL he has been looking for. -
Does LB Baylon Spector make the Bills final 53?
ColoradoBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
They kept 6. Edmunds, Milano, Klien, Matakevich, Smith and Dodson. Giles-Harris was called up for a couple of games. -
So true. Keenum had a very bad half of football. His 9 years shows much more. Barkley was signed after Keenum and even he would think Keenum is primary backup. If true, I'm thinking Barkley has no problem going to PS for a while to start the year. If Barkley wasn't willing to do that then Beane made a mistake signing him versus a developmental guy. I don't think Beane makes those kinds of mistakes.

Does LB Baylon Spector make the Bills final 53?
ColoradoBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
If they kept 6 he makes the team, at least until Smith comes back. If 5 he's PS bound unless something out of the ordinary happens. Your Matakevich point is well taken. He's on his last year of a 3-year and what his future is would be anyone's guess. Heck, no one knows 100% what Edmunds fate will be. It's all fun to consider! -
I'm liking Hodgins too and want to see him play a lot more in the next 2 weeks. It will test his durability (a shoulder and a jammed knee doesn't mean he's injury prone to me) and see if he can continue to perform. We fans have a lot of fun debating who we think should stay and go but I know that even the coaches don't know everything yet. It would be awesome to hear the position coaches and coordinators debate who should stay and who is cut with McDermott and Beane. Those last 5 slots or so have got to be interesting!

Bills Cutdowns (update - down to 80)
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Haack probably is staying for insurance the next week to 2. Araiza could strain a muscle and there still is a pretty tight PR competition going on. -
I guess my post was a bit confusing. I agree that he can get a roster spot and not play STs. In my post I meant they may play him some STs in the next few weeks to see how he performs.

I've heard that too. That's why I posted a link to the most official facts I had. -
Players that are ST only…how much value do they have?
ColoradoBills replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
That can be debated. I got no problem with Jones being a ST only player and that is what he is. In his 4 years in Buffalo, he has 0 rushes for 0 yards and 6 targets for 1 catch 11 yards. He dropped an easy TD. Matekevich has some worth at LB but I don't know if he gets a new contract after this year. Kumerow has only 1 year as a core special teamer and his WR play is not that great. My argument over all these talks about STs is none of us know if any are released what kind of replacement there is. Some fans act that if a Kumerow is released the opposing team is scoring on every punt. I refuse to believe there are no other qualified players on the roster. We just don't know the difference in play. The coaches do, so we have to wait. -
Bills Cutdowns (update - down to 80)
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The NFL changed the 75 cutdown to 80. From what I read having only 75 for the last preseason game forced some teams to play guys they would have rather sat. https://operations.nfl.com/gameday/nfl-schedule/2022-23-important-nfl-dates/ -
I agree. Who can and cannot clear waivers and get to the PS has to be a factor in the final roster spots along with next years depth slots chances. Hodgins: As to Hodgins I would think the coaches (and most of us fans) would agree that he deserves more snaps with the 2s in camp and in the next 2 preseason games. Another thing to watch for is any ST reps he may be taking in camp/games. While ST is important I would also just add that IF 7 WRs are kept at least one probably won't dress. I would have no problem with Hodgins being kept for his pass catching depth skills vs him getting lost to waivers. He needs to stay healthy the rest of the off season! Kumerow: While I wanted to see him succeed at his primary position (WR) I have to say his WR play is not very good. He got his chance last year to prove that and the result was in 116 offensive snaps with 2 catches on 6 targets for 28 yards. His WR play in the remaining games must be taken into consideration as to whether he makes the team. I say all this assuming Jones is a lock. I refuse to believe that one year of good ST play (that is all Kumerow has had) guarantees him a roster spot. If the coaches think as I do, Kumerow has to prove his worth as a WR too. These bubble players know this better than we do so these 2 guys have to know they are probably in a fight for that spot. I'm looking forward to seeing who wins this challenge.

Does LB Baylon Spector make the Bills final 53?
ColoradoBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep. Someone has to take Smith's spot for 6 games. He's probably in the mix. -
I was hoping for Kyle Allen in the offseason.
-
Matt has commented every time I hear him about playing in front of so many fans. He stayed calm and did great his first game. Way to go Matt. You ain't seen nothing yet!
-
With Devin, Moss and Cook ahead of him the hope is he can stick on the PS. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him next week. He has earned more snaps, that's for sure.
-
Keenum needs to pull it together. Not only for his backup QB spot but he wasted a lot of chances for his offensive teammates. He's a vet and needs to play much better against the Broncos next week.
-
He will be tested hard against the Rams BUT at least Hyde and Poyer know how to help out a rookie CB.
-
Sorry I got to do it.
