  1. Been on vacation to DC to take in all the sites. Had a great time, especially being a student of history. Haven't caught up on all the threads. Sorry if I missed this being posted somewhere.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I totally get your point. We have to wait to see how Beane uses the 2025 pick. Most likely he trades it. On another note. I for one am not a big fan of too many "void year" contracts and too many restructures. All it does is open risk to too much dead money. Beane has pushed it pretty hard hoping for the rings but reality has set in and it's time to regroup. What cracks me up is many fans NOW complaining about too much dead money but are the same people wanting to restructure every player on the team. It's a balancing act that got a little out of hand and now it's time to pay the piper. I got no problem with that. Im still hopeful that the team can compete this year at a high level!
  3. That's the cost IF you want to use it this year. Maybe Beane holds on to it.
  4. I guess some fans see it as a "complete rebuild". It's the natural way of football when older players need to be moved on from IMO. My main point was in regards to Diggs current cost compared to what his future production is perceived to be. We will have to wait for the season to see how it all works out.
  5. Diggs cost a 1st (and change) to acquire. His cost has been $19.5M per year for 4 years AAV. Now Beane gets a 2nd back. Diggs did his job but he is not worth pushing $30M a year for future years. If I look at it that way, it's a wash and time for someone younger to take it farther. Everything has it's time and Beane no doubt thoughts it's now.
  6. To take a lesson from last year. We went into the season without any LBs. How did that work out. Just let things take it's course and see what the roster looks like in August and how they play in September.
  7. Spotrac already has the $31M. Also, 2025 cap (after Beane lets Von go will be about $40M in cap space. This move was smart and it all depends on what kind of WR room Beane gives Allen and how he and Brady can make it work. NO ONE is going to know this till the fall.
  8. I don't. Josh was a young QB who had issues and Diggs helped him gain the NFL confidence he needed. Diggs has done his part. Now it's time for Josh to make good WRs out of average ones.
  9. I see it more as a football business move. Clearing his cap hits going forward as he ages will benefit the team. Beane is now in the position to just dump Von Miller at the start of next year. It's all about what Beane can do with the WR room the next 2 drafts and next years FA. I liked Diggs but even I was starting to not care for the drama he was starting.
  10. I see Dalton and Josh teaming up for years to come. Dalton's 2nd season will be a big one for him. As others have said, Brady will get him more targets (and more primary targets) down the seam. He is a driven player from all reports, so I expect he will be working on a lot of things to improve his overall game. Lots of his drops/incompletions were tough catches and he will adjust to Josh's throwing style more and more. Dalton needs a lot more targets in the red zone IMO. That would bring up his TD totals.
  11. Let's take a look at what potential trade partners that Beane might have in trading back into the 2nd round. First, let's talk about Pick #28 worth 660 points. Trading for a 3rd worth anywhere from 265 (Pick #65) to 3rd round comp Pick #100 (100 points) gives Beane some room but it all depends on how far back in the 2nd he would want to go. 1). I for one, wouldn't want Beane trading back past Pick #41 (Green Bay 490 points). If GB wants to move up into the 1st they got a 3rd rounder at Pick #88 (150 points). Could do a lower round swap to even the worth. 2). Carolina has Pick #33 and #39. They don't have a 1st rounder. Could be a potential trade partner. 3). Washington has Pick #36 and #40. They too could be a trade partner. 4). Arizona already has 2 1st rounders and Pick #35. They probably stand put. 5). Doubt Beane trades with NE at Pick #34. 6). LA Chargers have Pick #37 but their 3rd is too high to trade with the Bills. 7). The last of that early 2nd round teams in the TEN Titans. They are low on pick and don't have a 3rd rounder. The way I see it, Carolina, Washington and Green Bay are pretty good potential trade partners. Of these 3, Washington may well want to get back into the 1st and make a splash Day 1. They seem to have the right picks for the Bills to get either Pick 100 (worth 100 points) or Pick #78 (worth 200 points). Washington does not have a 4th rounder. TRADE: Bills #28 (660 points AND Pick #133 (39.5 points) 699.5 POINTS TOTAL for Washington Pick #40 (500 points) AND Pick #78 (200 points) 700 POINTS TOTAL OR TRADE: Bills #28 (660 points) for Washington Pick #36 (540 points) AND Pick #100 (100 points). I like this trade very much! Depending on Beane's board, it's a possibility.
  12. Everyone has an opinion on this. This is mine. Draft a WR in the 1st round (2nd at the latest). I will be disappointed in Beane if he does not. I prefer to let the draft come to Beane and not waste a 4th to move up 2 spots unless he is pretty darn sure a team like the Chiefs is trading up to take his guy. With the draft full of WRs, Beane should have a lot more than 1 guy he'd be happy with, both in the 1st and 2nd rounds.
  13. You must be giving "jokes" a lot of leeway.
  14. Currently 2025 is -$9.8M and when Von is let go next spring it results in a $8.5M in cap savings. Diggs contract may get traded. The trading team gets him for $19.5M with no guaranteed money (no dead cap). Whether he's cut or traded he saves another $5.1M pre-June and $18.5M post June. I see a post-June cut. Josh will restructure $20M more and take his hit down to $40M. Beane will be in a much better position next spring and going forward.
  15. I see a 2nd or 4th round rookie safety pushing Edwards and Rapp for a starting position. Hamlin having to fight off competition for S#4. Hope Beane double dips with a 5th-6th rounder to compete.
  16. Didn't want to see Safety in the 1st. This makes it better for WR/DL. Can't see a first-round need in the other positions. Second round BPA is good for me for a lot of other positions. I hope it falls that way.
  17. He signed a one-year $3M contract with the Chiefs last year. Seems he started after Bryan Cook got hurt. KC let him walk so I think it's around a $2M+ contract, but hopefully less. He does seem like a ball hawk. Hope McDermott can get him playing well for the D. I think this makes a Safety in Day 1 or 2 less important.
  18. Haack was brought in to get some camp competition. I would like to see someone brought in to compete with Bass. Get both of these kickers' minds' focused. I don't like either of these guys kicking every kick all summer long with not even the hint of competition.
  19. Sorry but you need to put this fantasy to bed. It would START with Bills 1st and 2nd this year PLUS next year's 1st and 2nd. Moving from 28 to 4 is a huge jump. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=buf
  20. A lot of sarcasm for a former 7th rounder who has to battle for a depth spot in camp. I see a vet minimum with maybe a small signing bonus at best.
  21. I'm not saying to move Taron to Safety BUT i would like to see if some packages with 3 LBs and Taron stays on the field.
  22. I see it like this so far. I will say the longer Beane goes without signing more UFAs (especially those around $2M one-year contracts) the more draft picks he might keep. I totally can agree with your points and have supported that in the past. Just see this year as maybe an exception. 1- WR (Assuming Shorter or one of the other PS guys make the team) 1- RB 2- OL (IOL and Swing)- I can't count Tommy Doyle as a lock) 4- DL (I have only 5 locks Beane usually keeps 9-10) 4- DB (I only have 6 locks Beane usually keeps 10) I don't count Hamlin as a lock. 1- P (Martin and Haack could be upgraded and cheaper). So that's 13 slots. I see a WR along with a DL/S with the 1st 2 picks. I do believe Beane is looking to add a vet Safety with the money he has left. That leaves 10 slots. Even if Beane drafted 10 guys and 8 (at best) made the team that still leaves some depth spots needing to be filled. Beane could use the cap from Tre White to fill out the roster with some vets like he did with Floyd last year.
  23. I agree that 10 or 11 rookies have a low probability of ALL making the team. But if you are taking a chance with drafting 7 guys from the 5th - 7th rounds you have to expect some not to make the 53. It's an odds thing. There is a chance on the unlikely situation that ALL the rookies look good of stashing a couple on the PS, especially the 6th and 7th rounders. If they get lucky and hit on 4-5 guys worth keeping my question would be, is it better to do that (this year) than using those picks to move a few spots up knowing that even those guys picked in Day 3 may not pan out too. Beane has never done this before, and I won't be upset if he does bundle picks, but he has not been in this cap crunch as bad as this year and next.
