  1. Aiyuk is only starting his 1st year of his 4-year contract and the 49ers want out already. Can anyone say red flag? Even with his current contract on the books SF has $40M in cap space and they still want to unload him. Don't do it.
  2. Totally agree. It was being used for that by some team's years ago, but not anymore. IF the tag was used on Cook, then I agree it would mean they are really close on a deal. Beane won't use it if they are way apart. He will let Cook walk. IMO.
  3. Terry pays Damar Hamlin more than what his share is for Goodell.
  4. Beane along with a lot of Bills players' agents understand that stability on a team that the player fits into well is worth more money in the long run than chasing a few extra bucks in free agency. Taron Johnson is on his 3rd contract. Same with Dawkins. Players can chase some extra money but there is no guarantee they fit into a new team's scheme. There is much more risk that a player may not even finish his contract with that team. They get traded or have to take on "prove it" contracts. It's smart to stick with your drafting team especially when you fit in well.
  5. I've said IF Beane wants to go with a big RB contract it won't be more than $12.5M AAV. That puts Cook at 4 on the RB list. 3 is Taylor at $14M and I don't think Beane is going anywhere near that. So, 4 years $50M is tops IMO IF Beane really wants to keep him.
  6. He hasn't. Players hate the tag and Beane knows it. The locker room knows Beane is a straight shooter on contracts. Cook signs for Market value or he moves on next year IMO.
  7. I was just looking at that. Christain is scheduled for $3.3M this year. New contract salary at vet minimum and with signing bonus/workout bonus I'm thinking it will pretty much be a wash.
  8. At $19M even it would be 6.80%.
  9. Congratulations to Christian and Brandon for doing a great deal for both parties. Looks like all the hand wringing about this contract was premature. With all these extensions coming in at or less than most "market values" it does put some pressure on Cook. James and his agent should sign for market and guarantee Cook's financial future and not worry about ego. Does make you wonder about the draft and what Beane will do if Cook doesn't sign before.
  10. I can see that especially since he didn't re-sign this spring. We should keep an eye on camp and preseason as to the centers and how they rank.
  11. Lots of concern about not having a WR1. I for one can live without one but it means that Brady has to keep scheming correctly using what in essence can be 3 number 2s. I have some faith that Brady is still learning and can get more out of the passing game with the WRs, TEs and RBs.
  12. I wonder is their fan message board is screaming to trade him. LOL.
  13. I was replying to Gunner's comment. All I said is the new staff may have overlooked him compared to their top 2 high draft picks WRs. Gunner was commenting on how bad Q. Johnston has been and that it reflected on Palmer. I said they are keeping QJ so what does that say about their evaluations. None of this matters to me until I see how Palmer fits in with Josh this year.
  14. The NFL has programs to help. The NFL offers various programs to help players manage their finances and invest for the future, including a 401(k) Savings Plan, the Player Capital Accumulation Plan (CAP), and a Financial Advisors Registration Program. Here's a breakdown of the key programs: 1. NFL 401(k) Savings Plan: Automatic Enrollment: Players are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Savings Plan, with 10% of their pre-tax salary contributed to their account. Contribution Limits: The current contribution limit in 2024 is $23,000 of "pre-tax" money. Tax Deduction: Contributions are tax-deductible, offering a tax advantage for retirement savings. Distribution: Distributions are available beginning on a player's 45th birthday, but IRS penalties may apply for distributions taken prior to age 59 1/2. 2. NFL Player Capital Accumulation Plan (CAP): Team Contributions: The CAP is a retirement plan where clubs contribute money into players' accounts. Vesting: Players become vested in their CAP account after three credited seasons, or if employed as a player at age 55. Contribution Amounts: The amount of team contributions depends on the number of credited seasons earned. 1 Year = $0 CAP Contribution 2 Years = $2,500 CAP Contributions 3 Years = $2,500 CAP Contributions 4 or More = $40,000 CAP Contributions Withdrawals: Players can choose how and when to take their money out beginning as early as age 40, if at least 5 years have passed since their last credited season. 3. NFL Player Annuity Program: Tax-Qualified and Nonqualified Accounts: The Annuity Program is a hybrid plan with both tax-qualified and non-qualified accounts, each with unique tax advantages and features. Vesting: Players become vested in the Annuity Program after three credited seasons. Access to Funds: Players may be able to access a portion of their account balance as early as five years out of football. 4. NFL Players Association Financial Advisors Registration Program: Qualified Advisors: This program provides players with access to a list of financial advisors deemed qualified by the NFLPA. Protection from Fraud: The program aims to protect athletes from fraud and poor advice. Background Checks: Advisors must apply to the program and undergo a full background check. Partnerships: The NFLPA has partnerships with financial institutions like Goldman Sachs and Bessemer Trust. 5. NFL Financial Education Program: Investment Education Challenge: The NFL offers an Investment Education Challenge to teach players about basic investing principles for long-term financial stability. Credit Management: The NFL Financial Education Program, in partnership with credit bureaus, provides credit education to NFL teams. Financial Literacy: The NFLPA also provides financial literacy resources and tools to help players manage their finances.
  15. I take it you will not be getting season tickets.
  16. I've been saying this for months. Actually, the chances of Beane re-signing both McGovern and Edwards next year are close to zero. Edwards should be considered for a trade for pick or player swap (CB).
  17. I'm talking about Palmer. Why are you bringing this up. If you want to compare Coleman (who was injured) he had more yards than Pearsall and Legette. Maybe McConkey should of went 4th overall instead of MHJ. Members of this board went ballistic about Beane not drafting more WRs after Coleman. Every WR (all 26 of them) had less than 476 yards receiving. Good thing Beane didn't waste picks on them.
  18. Snaps and targets are exactly what I meant.
  19. Really sucks for players with allergies.
  20. Just to give you some peace of mind. 2022 2nd Round drafted players who have played very well, Breece Hall, Ken Walker III, George Pickens and Terry McBride. None of these guys have extensions yet and I am positive none of their agents are advising them to "sit out" games this season. I'm not saying James Cook will not sit out games, I just find it very unlikely.
  21. It is one way to adjust his worth. I'm just not sure they can agree on the new $s. I'd be for it. If it doesn't happen then I think they move on from him next spring. No way they are paying him $12M in new cash with $17M cap hit.
  22. Spotrac now has Bills with $3M in cap space. Looks like the numbers have settled down. They also corrected Josh's cap hit and added back the cap they took away for the LTBE incentives. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/_/year/2025/sort/cap_total_top51/dir/desc
  23. How is this thread still a thing. I do wish you could "ignore" an entire thread. LOL.
