  1. We won an average of about 7 games a season....never made the playoff though LOL....and so are some of the emotional romanticism here. It's GOLD!
  2. Google the word "emotional" and then "romanticize" then think about all the pining for past Bills talent. A light bulb should go off
  3. The other thing that people seem to be overlooking is the roster/cap situation of the team that Beane inherited. They were very top heavy as Whaley heavily invested a lot of money in starters, and never had to pay a QB a big contract. As a result guys like Marcel Dareus, Cordy Glenn, Jerry Hughes, and Charles Clay all had huge deals. Behind them was very little depth. The "win now" mentality of Whaley would go on to hurt this team. Rather than try to emulate his cap strategy, Beane had different ideas. I give him credit. The Bills needed to fumigate the stink left from Whaley and Buddance Nix
  4. For a dude with a muppet as your avatar you are really making a lot of sense!
  5. LOL Emotional Bills Fan Romanticism Go back and watch the game film...Seantrel was not that good. Keep dreaming though
  6. LOL ok it . But I am going to coin a new term: Emotional Bills Fan Romanticism. It comes from the term romanticize. romanticize: to deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it really is. Emotional Bills Fan Romanticism is what happens here quite a bit. When people will start lamenting about former Bills players or coaches the second things go bad for the team or the second a former player has even the smallest amount of success. It's characterized by an unhealthy obsessing with remembering those former Bills players as much better than they were in actuality. I compared to this - a 50 year old man living in a one bedroom studio apartment in Lackawanna thinking back to his red-headed high school sweetheart name Lucy who he broke up with to play the field (But it's not me). The second things start going back he goes back to this romanticized version of Lucy where things were much better in his imagination than they were in back when the two dates. After yesterday's loss, the Emotional Bills Fans Romanticism reached it's peak. Someone actually lamented getting rid of Seantrel Henderson and Cyrus Koundjio. I am not kidding. You know what's next right "Oh why did we get rid of Adolphus Washington. We never should have let him go." I'm 100% serious you know. Anyway the list of players who Bills fans romanticized here over the past 24 hours includes: - Sammy Watkins - Robert Woods - Ryan Fitzpatrick - Marcel Dareus - Chris Hogan - Marquis Goodwin - Seantrell Henderson (I kid you not) - Cyrus Koundjio (I kid you not) - Preston Brown - Stephon Gilmore - Ron Darby - Nick O'Leary (Not making this one up) - Kaelin Clay And this is just from my memory. Bills fans, leave the (fabricated) memories alone!
  7. No but all of the pining from Bills fans yesterday made me realize just how much emotional romanticism there is from the Bills fan base
  8. I’ve been around for 1 year but it kind of seems a little extreme after Sunday’s loss....this kind of reaction reminds me of the old Bills Bulletin Board. The only difference is the board didn’t crash on game day and the mods here are pretty cool and won’t give you infractions for saying how bad the team sucked!
  9. Since the loss on Sunday, the amount of unintentional comedy in this forum is off the charts. The emotional romanticism is off the chain. There’s a lot of debate and infighting among members. There’s also some really ridiculous comments and takes, which were proposed with 100% sincerity. Four days ago people were comparing Nathan Peterman to Drew Brees, now they want to see him released. This forum is pandemonium.....this forum is fandemonium. This forum is....fantastic. Thanks to all all the member and mods who are making this a fun place to debate, commiserate, and talk Bills football!
  10. On the topic of emotional romantisicm there actually was a “we should have let Seantrell Henderson and Cyrus Koundjiol post here. And the author is defending his take. I told you I wasn’t joking
  11. I disagree. You can say that perhaps they overpaid Star but he definitely filled a need. Adolphus Washington was the starting 1 Technique DT. He sucked. Also if you noticed last season how easily it was go QB’s to step up inside the middle of our D. It’s because the DT’s got no push.
  12. Sir, you are spot on with your assessment. This is one of the best and most sensible posts that I’ve read in a long time. No romantiscm or overreacting. Smart and well-thought our. Kudos. I have to agree with what you said, and as I’ve stated before I think that privately Beane and McDermott were hedging their bets. If you read some of the comments they made publicly, it’s very telling. I remember McDermott saying things at the Senior Bowl like “every year is different” and citing his experience going 6-10 after the Panthers made the Super Bowl. Even in the press conference today he said he was in “year two” and that the roster was not a finished product
  13. If you are talking about the 2018 Bills roster, then yes I do agree that Fitz would be a really good addition as an experienced QB who could be a stopgap for a handful games and then hand it off to Allen. I don’t think it was a mistake to move on from Fitz. We all saw his shortcomings as a starting QB and it drove us crazy. At the time, no one was upset that he was gone. It just proves that this emotional pining has got to stop. It’s silly
  14. Yes I totally agree. But did they really underestimate the OL? Or were there just not many good options out there? People are forgetting that Beane didn’t have the cap flexibility to sign players like Nate Solder or Andrew Norwell to huge deals. I guess you could say that they could have drafted some linemen. But remember the #1 priority in the draft was QB, the second was defense. There were a lot of needs on this and you can’t all address them at once - especially given the cap situation. Whether it was OL, LB, WR or whatever other position it’s impossible to fix everything in a year. This is why I am certain that Beane and McDermott were privately bracing for an off year given the roster they have.
  15. You mentioned an unrelated topic, in an attempt to make me look bad. That’s why I said it was a cheap shot. But keep pretending like it wasn’t. I guess I just expect more from a mod. Silly me Yep exactly Yellow Flag for Romanticizing on Sammy Watkins. They could have picked up the option but just like the Rams, they didn’t think he would be worth the money. Second, if they tag Sammy they are paying him at the top 5 at his position. Look at his stat line today....was he really worth it? you can definitely criticize some decisions, but I think moving on from Sammy was the right decision on hindsight
  16. I don’t agree with you on many things. But this statement is one of them. Truly ridiculous to predict 2019
  17. ...or we could just be moderators that attack members with cheap shots, but you know. Good romanticism right here
  18. Like who Lisa Wilson? The bad takes on current players or coaches? I get that, it’s optimism. Yes they are probably just as ridiculous. But the pining for the past is just plain pathetic. I’m just saying the whole “oooooh why did we move on from Tyrod” is silly. Like I mentioned before it’s the 50 year thinking back to his high-school sweet heart from Lackawanna (not me)
  19. Right....exactly. It’s just as pathetic as the 50 year old from Lackawanna, who is not me FYI
