Yeah I agree with this comment. Rueben was very good for many years, but I think toward the end of his career with the Bills, especially toward the end, his play was inconsistent. There were several years that he was maybe a bit more than average and he still made the Pro Bowl. I remember when Donahoe released him in 2003. Most fans were fine with in because he had a phat contract and wasn’t so good.

Mr. negative strikes again. Hate to tell you this - but there’s an “element of luck” for just about every team that wins the Super Bowl. Bottom line is that the 2017 team did exactly what they need to do to get in. The other 9-7 teams had a great chance to get in and they essentially blew it. 2004: After a hellish start the team took advantage of a soft schedule and went on a crazy run. They just needed to beat Pittsburgh’s 3rd string team and they actually got beat down prettt bad. 2014: After a big win vs. Green Bay, the Bills just needed to beat the 2-12 Raiders and then the NE backups. Of course again Marrone’s crew failed and were ourclassed by a group of bad players. Again the 2017 team needed to win some games down the stretch and they did it. Big pivotal wins against KC and Miami twice. Other Bills team would have faultered. Credit that to McDermott. Stop being Mr. Negative and give Coach McDermott credit. He did more with less.

This was true about 10 years when Ralph Wilson was running the team and there was a threat of relocation. Bottom line, there are 32 HC jobs in the NFL. As long as you can pay...they will come. I disagree with you 100% and will put money down. Listen to the press conferences where McDermott and Beane both stress that the roster “isn’t where they want it yet” and now the team is going to be a work in progress. This is what they’ve said publicly....who know what is said behind closed doors. I feel that McDermott has prepped PSE that this season was going to be bad one, but that it was part of the “process” and that they have a plan. Interesting tidbit from WGR...according to Jerry White there is a prop bet that places Coach McDermott as one of the 5 coaches most likely to get fired. They gave him 1-5 odds of getting fired. I know little about better but I am considering betting my life savings against it. IMO, the Bills can go 0-16 and there’s no way Coach is getting axed. There are a plethora of reasons. The first is practicality. In his first year McDermott led the Bills to the playoffs. Period. That was unthinkable a few years ago, and breaking that streak was huge for both Coach and this franchise. Second are the Pegulas. The love Coach and treat him like family. They gave him a lot of power and authority and he delivered. The third is continuity. The Pegulas are conscious of their reputation of getting rid of coaches. They also know the history of the Bills. Terry is rumored to have consultants to discuss business with and they will preach continuity as well. The last is that McDermott and Beane were probably very clear in the time their “process” would take. I have no doubt that Terry gave Coach his word that he was committed to five years and would give him some time. Either way, I’d put the odds if Coach McDermottt getting fired at 5%. Jerry White said he feels McDermott is one of the safest coaches in the NFL. I would agree. What say you?

In a time when role models in sports are hard to come by and good character is sometimes forgotten, it’s nice to see an athlete like a Nathan Peterman on our football team. He is humble, soft spoken, professional and generally very likeable. He also demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to the Bills. With that being said, I feel very bad about his NFL career. On paper it seemed like a Hollywood script. A 5th round draft pick that is an all-around good guy, gets his shot starting thanks in part to his coach’s unwavering confidence. After a disaterous football debut in San Diego, he uses this bad experience as motivation and tirelessly works hard at improving. His hard work pays off, and he gets a second chance to redeem himself and..... he failed almost as bad!?!?!?!?! This just doesn’t seem right. Call me crazy but this kid deserved better. From what I have read Nate is one of the first players to arrive at OBD sand one of the last to leave practice. I personally witnessed him signing autographs for EVERYONE who approached him at St. John Fisher, while about 90% of the coaches and players were already in the locker room. I think that starting Josh Allen was the right move by Coach McDermott. He had no choice. I only wish that the story was different for Peterman. He seems like a very good guy and hopefully we’ll get that Hollywood ending....just at a later time.

Oh yeah he won’t be getting cut, unless he continuously screws up. I don’t see it happening, but if anyone steps up, I can see him getting bumped down the depth chart

You’re conveniently leaving 1 piece out of thread equation. What helped Goff the most was the guy calling the plays. The Rams most important hire was Sean McVay. Were not going to get a coaching change in Buffalo and probably not even an OC change anything soon.

No idea why Coach McDermott gave Peterman that second start

Stories went around the news today about what Zay Jones’ mother had to say about KB. Sal Carpaccio reporter it and said something about Zay’s father fighting with Bills fans in defense of criticism to their son. I check it out and it is legit. All in all, this is an epic Twitter account. For those of you who don’t know, Zay’s dad is Robert Jones #55 who played for the Dallas Cowboy teams that beat the tarp out of the Bills in the Super Bowl. In this tweet below, he goes back and forth Kevin Massare from the Bills Wire for saying that Zay was a bust. This has been happening over the course of three days: Then Robert got on Sully’s case. This was too funny: He also got into an epic threat with John Warrow, who did a very good job of articulating why he was critical of Zay: He’ll also defend his son against random trolls:

Here’s the thing.... Sal Carpaccio spoke about this on his Extra Point Show. He said that the Bills were down 26-0, and it escalated fast. They were down by so many points that they never had a chance to establish their run game. Then with Allen in the game and with it being the 1st game of the season, he didn’t want to put too much on tape.

Wont happen until 2022, at the earliest. For now stand by Coach McDermott and GM Beane

As always, Coach McDermott made the right call. I do however wish that Beane had signed a veteran QB that could have gotten the team through the 5 game stretch of hell. Allen will have to learn on the fly. If he doesn’t have the goods, let’s draft another QB next year

No that’s a reasonable statement to make. My problem is that when we let Hogan and Woods walk a few years back, there wasn’t this kind of outrage. Fans understood why we did it and were largely ok with it at the time. In fact, many supported the move. A few years later, they suddenly are all emotional and now they don’t support it. Take Sammy Watkins. People joked about him being a “decoy” now those same people are pining for him back on our team!?!? It’s pathetic. My point is, you can’t have it both ways. It’s looking back in hindsight, and it’s foolish. People want to use these moves as a strike against Beane, when they themselves probably would have done the same thing. Move the F on

A lot of romanticizing going on here☝️☝️☝️ You are either don’t understand my original point or you are choosing to spin your “facts” to support revisionist history. The whole idea behind this thread was how Bills fans are so dramatic when it comes to former players/coaches, the second they have any success with other teams. In fact the outrage is so great, it almost seems as though some fans here are in tears when they post emotional responses like your above. The problem is, at the time when many of these players left there was no outrages. In most cases, fans were fine with players leaving. They either weren’t good enough with the Bills (Goodwin, Bradham, Brown) or they weren’t worth the bloated contract they would be given on the open market (Gilmore, Sammy, Dareus). I will admit that there was a lot of outrage when Beane came in and got ride of Sammy. Looking back though, it certainly was the right call considering that his production doesn’t warrant the type of deal he received. Though @SoTier seems pretty impressed with 3 catches for 21 yards or 39 receptions in 2017 on one of the most prolific passing offenses in the NFL. My point is....and I’ll put this in bold you can see it clearly. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. You can’t say “don’t let the door hit you on the ass” when the Bills didn’t resign an oft-injured Goodwin or an unspectacular Robert Woods, and then a year later say BEANE NEVER SHOULD HAVE LET THESE GUYS GET AWAY. It’s revisionist history or romanticizing. Pretending that players were better on the team than they were in actuality. The level of intensity of the romanticizing is where I coined the term “Emotional Romanticizing.” It almost seems like an unhealthy obsession for many fans here including @SoTier This emotional romanticizing needs to stop. It must stop. Because it makes our fan base look foolish. Support Coach McDermott. Support GM Beane. And Support QB Peterman or QB Allen. Either way, support the Bills. Enough of this emotional romanticizing.

Thats a fallacy.... you really can’t “wreck” a QB. They either have it or they don’t. Some people get the Bills “wrecked” EJ. I have a feeling he could have sat for 4 years and still have been the same QB he was. Good ones are great from the start

Kirby we both know that the Pegulas love both Beane and McDermott. They are going no where - even it means drafting a QB in 2019. Also outside of Goff and maybe Smith, all of the QB’s on your list showed tremendous flashes their rookie year despite some initial struggles. I’m just saying, if we don’t see these flashes from Allen during the regular season, if the Bills have a very high draft pick, and if a highly-rated, promising QB is in the board then it should be considered.

Here’s the thing with QB’s, the good ones are good right from the start. Happened with Brett Favre, Russell Wilson etc. I think at the end of 15 games you should know what you have. What’s the difference going QB in 2019 vs 2020?
