  1. He understands the game, very smart player, but I agree for different reasons. I'd start McCarron until Allen settles down emotionally. Let the euphoria of being the #7 overall pick settle down a little, let the pressure settle down a bit. I think if you start McCarron there's a good chance we see Allen by week 7, 8 or 9. I'd rather do it that way because if Allen starts week 1 and goes through growing pains, fans are going to start grumbling for McCarron to start and then we have a QB controversy. Start McCarron, let him fall on his face, insert Allen and let him be our savior.
  2. Allen was Wyoming's offense, he carried them on his back. In Buffalo he is going to be asked to do next to nothing. We made the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor throwing for 2,800 yards and 14 TDs, all Allen has to do is throw for 20 TDs and limit turnovers and we should make the playoffs 2 years in a row. We should have a strong defense and Allen has a way better supporting cast than he's ever had in his entire life. He's never had a running back like LeSean McCoy or receivers like Charles Clay and Kelvin Benjamin. Fans say our talent on offense is weak but to Allen this is like waking up on Christmas morning and gifts under his tree, he has never had this much talent to work with at any point in his career from the time he played in peewee through high school and college until now, he is gushing right now.
  3. Fair enough, but my point is McCown finished with a 67% completion percentage and a 18:9 TD/INT ratio in 13 games and was on pace to throw for 3,600 yards. McCown had a really good year and the Jets still finished with 5 wins. Darnold has to do a lot lot more than what Allen will be asked to do. Tyrod threw for 14 TDS in 14 games and passed for 2,800 yards, that is not hard to out do. We made the playoffs despite Tyrod not because of him. QB was a glaring weakness all season long on a 9-7 team, whereas Darnold is going to a 5-11 team where QB was actually a strength.
  4. Well, Allen has way more help than Darnold has. Allen is coming from a school where literally none of his teammates got drafted, now all of a sudden he has Kelvin Benjamin, Charles Clay and Nick O'Leary to throw to with McCoy in the backfield. Who does Darnold have? Seriously. He went from a loaded roster in college to a bare cupboard in the pros. Maybe he can overcome it, maybe he can't. Allen has a lot less adversity to overcome than Darnold, that's a fact. Darnold will be asked to do a lot more and to be frank, I don't think he can do it. Allen is not going to be asked to do a whole lot right away, we can ease him in. Also, the Jets have no picks to build around Darnold with in the future. They traded everything away for Darnold and they are going to be without their 2nd in 2019. Jamaal Adams is a good player don't get me wrong but the Jets draft was down right terrible, like really really bad. They need a lot of help in many areas all over the field, the Bills are a playoff team with an influx of talent, the Jets are bottom feeders that gave up a ton of picks. Bowles is also a dumb coach, I question his ability to groom Darnold. I know Adams was just talking **** probably trying to get a few laughs and have fun but he is going to be disappointed. If Allen can be a better QB than Tyrod Taylor, we're in the playoffs. Sam Darnold will have to be a generational talent to get the Jets to the playoffs.
  5. That's a really solid comparison, count me in for that idea. No longer will Poyer and Hyde get abused, I can promise you that.
  6. It infuriates me. At times I feel like I'm arguing with people that never even watched these guys play. I'm not even talking about actively scouting players but just 15-20 minutes of highlight reels and game tape, I feel like a big chunk of debbie downers haven't even done that.
  7. Wtf does that have to do with anything? Why character assassinate? This is Beane's first draft, how do you know exactly? That's right, you don't. Maybe if you took the 30-45 minutes a day that you spend posting nonsense here and instead watched some tape you'd know that this was a very good haul.
  8. You got to factor in that this is a football forum and football forums don't necessarily attract the smartest people. The fans that bother me the most are the ones with the really strong opinions and you can tell that they never watched the player in question play before. They go off of what analysts and experts say instead of watching guys for an hour on YouTube.
  9. Well, honestly, I sincerely question how much football you've watched. I mean, did you at least watch 25-30 minutes of highlight videos before you judge? You could at least do that. You're not entitled to an opinion until you at least do that. Edmunds is 6'5 250lbs and has drawn comparisons to Brian Urlacher. Edmunds is not only the best LB in the draft, he has the ability to be better than Luke Kuechly.
  10. I think that debate won't be a thing by the end of the year. Tyrod's gone, McCarron is a journeyman, Allen will come in midway through the season, fans will be calling for him.
  11. If he ends up anything remotely like Wentz I am happy.
  12. I like the Cam Newton comparison but the Ben Roethlisberger comparison you are going to hear a lot.
  13. Barring a !@#$ed up career ending injury I just don't see how Allen busts. How are other people not seeing what I'm seeing? The kid is humble and down to earth, high football IQ, crazy athletic ability, biggest arm in a decade, how can he fail? Fans have no idea what they're getting, you are going to be very very pleasantly surprised.
  14. That's fair but I like the fact that we drafted two of the biggest boom or bust prospects in the draft. Allen and Edmunds have a higher ceiling than anyone else at their respective positions. Sure, they could bust but we could also end up with the next Big Ben and Brian Urlacher.
  15. You want a DT over a QB??? Really? We signed Lotulelei and we drafted a steal in Harrison Phillips. What QB could we of had at #96? You would rather take an OT or a WR over a generational talent at LB? What QB will Wynn protect? Who will get Moore the ball?? Edmunds is the best LB in the draft and has the potential to be the best LB in the entire NFL.
  16. I look at the fact that Edmunds is only 20 as a tremendous advantage. Boy, I remember all the testosterone running through my body that age. Lots of more wiggle, less wear and tear on them bones. Edmunds is a generational LB prospect, we are talking about a guy that may be discussed as perhaps a better talent than Luke Kuechly. Milano is a stud, they apparently like Tanner Vallejo but I think the guy we're going to see surprise a lot of people is Siran Neal. Apparently they are going to try him out mainly as safety but don't get it twisted he will be playing LB as well. Lorax is old and slow but can still be effective if used right, I think we're OK.
  17. Ability to extend plays, I think that's a lot of fun to watch, it's what I liked most about Tyrod. Nobody does it better than Big Ben.
  18. He can tackle too. Now we got Tre, Taron, Vontae, Siran, Micah and Jordan roaming around in our secondary and all of them know how to hit, very scary if you're a receiver or a running back.
  19. I hope to God they have Neal gain a few lbs and play LB. Milano, Edmunds and Neal would be ridiculous.
  20. He has All Pro talent though, no other LB available at 22 has anywhere near the ceiling, we didn't really miss out on much. Edmunds was projected at #7 in most mocks I read. #7=1,500 #22 + #65 = 1,045 Matter of fact what we got was a highway robbery.
  21. Edmunds is a Brian Urlacher clone, we're talking about an All-Pro caliber prospect. This guy doesn't just have the potential to be a top 5 MLB in the league, he has the potential to be the very best LB in the league. Screw 65, I'll take the All-Pro.
